  • Battling 20 mph winds. Was planning on making a trip around Piney Point but the head wind was just too strong I could only manage about 9 mph in that direction so there will be another video on a better day and it will also include my freshly installed polarized lens. But enjoy this one for now.

I went kayaking there today and the landscape is very different from before I had no idea.

Where those winds 20mph ground level or up high? Were you in P/F mode or A? Thanks!

+Chad H The forecast was for 20 mph, I'm assuming at ground level since at altitude I was only getting 8 mph of speed at times. And was in P/F mode, the phantom can really take care of itself. I used to be skittish about flying in high wind but have grown very confident with the phantom now. It's a beast, not much can bring it down.

+Aaron Fronek Thanks! It's always hard to know what mode people are in as P/F or A make a BIG difference with performance. I was trying to figure out the limitations of the craft (and me) without having to do too much of this myself! I feel flying in 10mph winds with gusts of 15mph should be ok then. I haven't ventured much above 5-6mph but think I should be doing that as there are not many days at that AND it looks like the P3 can handle it just fine. Your thoughts?

Like I said I have gained a lot of confidence with the p3. DJI says safe to fly up to 22 mph winds. But I believe it can stay in the air well above that. However since top speed for the p3 is 35 mph even though it will hold it's altitude and stay upright in very high winds it will probably have trouble holding its gps position in over 22 mph winds.
