I remember hearing this on Radio One In Concert when it was broadcast in 1981. After what was recorded here, the rest of the hour was taken up with Dexys Midnight Runners live. Dexy's didn't make an album between their first and third lineups, but a lot of their live recordings have been released on a CD called The Projected Passion Review. Including the two songs here, and the rest of the hour. Plus quite a bit more. Because it was a number of live takes, some of the songs are repeated. Great to hear this comedy interlude again after all this time! An early outing for Planer's character Neil, later of The Young Ones, before he became famous.
I wish there were more Outer Limits recordings available, the little of them I've seen and heard is excellent, much better than most of their (future Comic Strip) contemporaries at the time and far cleverer than the "shouting rude words" stuff that was popular back then.
People did pay to see this, didn't they? Considering the band is well honed, I'm surprised they didn't make it farther. I said it was a record, my excellent friend and confidante says it was live.
