I'd love to hear how this has evolved over the last 3 years. I know your hats have changed and you've put together your 1 bag video. Please update us with a new vid!
To me, less stuff is less that I have to manage or inventory. Having quality pieces that last & I love has made all the difference. It’s almost like I have a uniform of a variety of pieces that work well & eliminate the decision making you mentioned. Great video!
I recently downsized my wardrobe by quite a bit and it’s had a really nice effect on daily living. I’m still working towards downsizing even more but I like wearing everything I have and deciding what to wear requires far less brain power every day. Having a uniform for work is a bonus too.
So interesting! Because of the joy that I get in dressing and styling, I don't feel particularly called to minimize the decision-making around clothing. The expense doesn't really bother me either since I manage my finances well enough to not overspend on my hobbies. But, I do feel called to address the ethics of my over-consumption. Your approach is a really refreshing take on wardrobe minimalism. I especially like the "time in clothes" percentage split. I'm going thru my wardrobe app right now and seeing if my percentage of home/work/special items matches up to my actual time spent in those categories.
I have a big wardrobe, but everything is very similar, and I tend to wear the same items a lot. Basically Kuhl pants and Patagonia Puckerware shirts. End result, my friends think I’m a dirty person who seldom changes clothes.
Hey @Megamon1996 ... it's the 3 litre one in the "Ash" colour. I was debating whether or not I wanted to get the 6L size at the time just to be able to fit an iPad, but then I realized that I pretty much never walk with my iPad out, and the 3L is more than big enough for my EDC :)
Thanks for watching Darlene! 🙏 With all the freed-up space, I've now turned one of my closets into a "stock room". I list a few things at a time on Facebook Marketplace, and give them a week to sell. If, after a week, there are no takers, I put the items into a large plastic bag (also in that closet), and when it fills up, will take it to the donation depot. Are you currently minimizing your own closet?
@@MauriceMoves Oh interesting - I haven't tried FB marketplace. Yes I am trying to minimize in a BIG way! I own very little when it comes to large objects (furniture, equipment, etc.) but I own A LOT of clothing and kitchen equipment. I have tons of dresses from my mom that have sentimental value, but I never wear. I used to love shopping, and bought so many sale items that never quite fit me well or were uncomfortable (and although they were sale items, some of them were a considerable investment). I also used to host clothing swaps with friends, and acquired a lot of nice stuff that, again, didn't fit me well. I've posted many items to Poshmark (I have over 300 I'd like to sell), but only 6 or 7 have actually sold. Any advice on moving clothing items on online market places? Thanks for posting your videos - I love the format and the clean editing!
I know that being a Leafs fan often means tears and heartache, but I can’t imagine living in the hockey capital of the world and choosing instead to follow {shudder} basketball. Anyway, thanks for the vid -wearing great suits and ties is what I miss the most these days. (Do forgive the rant - hockey fans in North Carolina are a rare and prickly bunch.)
I flabbergasted that you don’t have a pair of blundstones or a pair of sandals/flip flops. I’m a woman but if I had to narrow down my shoe wardrobe to 5 pairs, I’d definitely keep my black tevas and a pair of blundstones. When I travel, even internationally, those are the two pair I take. Of course, we all have different lifestyles and different needs. I’m from Texas but I thought every person in Toronto owned blundstones.

Love your philosophy. Been doing the same in my effort to make my life simpler and less stressful. Appreciate you and what you do.
Love your video, I am still in the downsizing and simplifying process, maybe I also should count my Items
Whatever your style is I really believe the first thing to do it this split rule according to your personal life style (your “60/30/10”). 👏
I would love a link to the overnighter bag!!

Yay, Astro Boy!
What did you do with the 200 items that you didn’t want to keep?????
What size is that peak design bag @8:43? And is it solid for carrying Everyday carry items or do you use for something else like a camera?

Never go to the pool or the beach?
Never been to Toronto?
Do you think that minimalism is with or against taoist principles?
