I love this idea. I stamp my butterflies but never emboss. Last week I got a mini pancake cooker and have been using it to emboss die-cut words, I think it would work great for the butterflies. The cooker will go up to 4". Marion Emberson did it on one of her videos. I was tired of burning my fingers on fiddly bits or having to fix the embossing after using tweezers. I love your videos Ceri.
Cool…Christine Stokes shared to do this on magazine pages,,,I have been doing that with gold powder,…but I really like the black on the pages. Thanks..good teaching by the way
lovely, I have a number of VI stamps- great co. just need to spend a few days just making them and then they are at hand when needed. tfs love from usa
I never dreamt of using black embossing powder, but now I want to try that black sparkle. And since you don’t like the sparrow, you might as well send him to me! He’s my favorite. I’ll give him a loving home. 🕊️
Love your butterflies and great tip to coat book page first with gesso and to make the shiny embossing more dull to apply some matte medium. Thanks for sharing!
Antlers! 😂 That's what I'm going to call them from now on! I love these butterflies, absolutely beautiful! What a great video, thank you for another inspired idea 😊
Absolutely gorgeous! Love the large butterflies with the brown distress ink added to the edges. I think you are right about using black embossing powder. It does create a glam factor. TFS. 🙏🥰
Great techniques-especially toning down embossing powders’ shine with matte medium. Plus, I’m embarrassed to say, after decades of art stamping (now segued to not-very-“junk” journals), I have always applied gesso with a brush! The credit card application is so much better.
I would have never thought to either Lorraine, it is a brilliant idea Ceri...I will be working on that next...thank you for sharing your ideas with us...❤
I had exactly the same experience with the un-silicone mat. I bought the right one, decided I needed another and thought I bought the right one, but nope.
Loved watching your process. Liked how you used old book pages. Just started doing 3 D butterflies. I have a 3 step stamp butterfly I'm using now. I get color with stamp,so i don't have to color in.I double stamp the same one on 2 pieces of cardstock. I fussy cut one, cutting off antennas too. I color edges after I cut it. I glue it on top of other at just the body and shape wings to come up. I add embellishments after. Etc. Glossy accents to dark parts on body. Going to try some with embossing. Love embossing, have bunch but don't get to use them as much as I'd like. Thank you for Sharing this and your hints. Have to check what I have in a book I can use. THANKS again and have a great and safe day.. .
Gonna' make a "pile of butterflies" now that you have shown me how ... stash of stamps coming up. Let's go! Thanks for your time and effort in this tutorial. 😉
Those are so pretty! I love your videos where you show how to make your own ephemera. I use a lot of things that are from me - and these videos give me great ideas. Thank you!
Thank you ever so much for sharing. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I cannot wait to follow your instructions and make some butterflies of my own. ☺️
Great video Ceri! While I’m not a “mass make” fan, I could totally see making up a bunch of these as a play session! Thank you for sharing your method. ❤
I appreciate how you encourage all of us to use what we have and not buy every product out there. ❤

Very fun
Beautiful butterflies - I'll have to find alternative as I'm useless at fussy cutting
Some stamps come with dies, a little more expensive but you’ve got a die cutting machine it’s an option.
Awesome tutorial, great inspiration !!!❤😊
😍😍😍wonderful butterflies!!❤❤❤
Wonderful technique, the black on butterflies really stands out, all your butterflies are just devine. Thankyou for sharing this great idea.
There is also a clear gesso available although, I understand, it doesn't cover up the texture of the base.
I love these butterflies, and admire your fussy cutting, which I'm terrible at. 🦋👐🏻
