Outstanding! Old home in Chehalis where I grew up across the street from the tracks. Counted many a consist as a boy and old enough to remember the troop trains of WW2. Many, many thanks.
@mbmars01 A new Sound Transit cab car! Its numbers near the windshield wipers are the same as the Metrolinx painted GO transit cabcars. Good catch! Also, nice find of Amtrak Cascades Siemens locomotives too! However, there will also be Amtrak SC-44 Chargers on the Pacific Surfliner (Amtrak California) as well.
Wow you're the first one to show me the Simmons locomotives in action. Those are the brand new locomotives aren't they? You know they're built here in California? Thanks for showing me these awesome locomotives and great video bro!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👍👍👍
Thanks I enjoyed your video. Something you do not see very often a B unit. It must be nice for you getting out of the Georgia heat. I watched your video on my iPhone while listening to my scanner at the local airport. Take care. Your fan Joe
Thanks, but you should watch in 4k on a big TV ;) The cabless unit was very unexpected. As you said, one rarely sees something like this outside yards.
Nice! One reason I made this trip was to get some inspiration for modeling mountain sections on my HO layout. I went east through the Cascades from Monroe, following the Scenic Sub (will all be in the next video).
mbmars01 Sweet looking forward to that video. If you like you can check out my channel. I’m new to creating content but I made this channel for when our club does shows I’m making videos for when I’m operating on our module layout. Our club theme is PNW, it could give you some ideas also. I’m hoping to get better at producing some good videos.
Nice! That's a region I plan to explore some day. Was a real surprise seeing the ex CNW unit still in green and yellow. Would have thought it had been sent to Arkansas for repainting by now.
@mbmars01 First time seeing Amtrak Cascades! I usually think that the rear unit pushing them are F59PHI's, but instead they have been deleted, so all Amtrak Cascades trains have to use SC-44 Charger engines, built by Siemens and had to be running permanently. Deal?
Awesome to see some one hit my neck of the woods. I do want to offer you a possible coreecrion. The tank trains you have seen may be oil trains heading for the Oil Refinery's at Anacortes, WA and Cherry Point, WA. I see them roll through all the time in my town. In any case that is an awesome vid. You have my sub.
I know that you prefer not to show the entire train's length, but I am wondering, the UP train at 6:43 that was a combination of manifest/intermodal, was it long?
Now you got a taste of the Northwest , which is where I am. Do you want to head back? I go home every year to visit family and kick with a few days of railfanning.
Yeah! I didn't spent that much time in the PNW actually, but rather traveled the entire NW - five states. Time was extremely scarce and my schedule tight - I saw the Pacific only from the plane :/
mbmars01 that happens...next time you head over you should visit UP's Brooklyn sub (through the valley), Portland sub (through the gorge), PNWR's OE district and Westside line (From Eugene-Portland, bypassing UP traffic...Amtrak doesn't run, but they get log trains (Harbor Turn, OE Express), local "switchers" (Hillsboro, Tigard switchers), and mixed merchandise trains (663/664). You should also check out "Horn Alley" in Southeast Portland on UP's Brooklyn sub (it meets the Graham line, so trains come off both lines) There's 11 crossings in a quarter mile stretch, there's overpasses, and it goes between buildings. Lots of horn in it. It sees a range of slow days and traffic-filled ones. UP, Amtrak, and PNWR all run through. I have some horn alley videos on my channel, not trying to advertise. There are plenty more good spots. Don't forget to check out CORP in southern Oregon, and BNSF in central Oregon... Sorry for the essay...
Thanks for all this valuable information; there's nothing to apologize for! I admittedly didn't pay enough respect to Oregon on this trip, although I did return to Portland through the Gorge (and railfanned the Portland Sub when I stayed overnight in The Dalles). I hope I can return one day and take more time to explore this beautiful area and see other parts of Oregon.
mbmars01 you're welcome!! There's lots of cool places to railfan...just make sure you have a scanner...I don't, and there have been 6-7 hour days with just one train...at times...
No, it wasn't this one. It was unfortunate that this guy parked under the bridge while I was filming. I actually liked the shot into the curve under that bridge.
Great catches! Is that your first time to Portland and Seattle? Those cities is where they used to film Grimm the Tv show that used to be on NBC on Friday nights at 9pm.
Bruce Wiliams It stands for b Burlington Northern Santa Fe. An old friend of mine who passed away a few years ago jokingly called the line "Big Nothing Super Frisco" as he was a big FRISCO. (SLSF) Trainnut1958 🇺🇸🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇸
Thanks. Long time ago, I was somewhat interested in Formula One, but then my interest in car races faded. They should do locomotive races like in the early days. That would be something lol
Outstanding! Old home in Chehalis where I grew up across the street from the tracks. Counted many a consist as a boy and old enough to remember the troop trains of WW2. Many, many thanks.
That is too cool that you lived in this area! I'm glad my video brought memories back and you enjoyed it :)
Thanks again for stepping up and IDing all the locos in your vids-I'm getting pretty good at recognizing them myself!
That's awesome. Well, this video had some goodies that rarely appear in my videos.
@mbmars01 It was pretty awesome to see the Seahawks NPCU in this video! Excellent work!
Thanks!
Sweet. An old CNW engine on that Up manifest train. Great Video.
Thanks 😊

Nice, waiting on the Scenic\Columbia Subs (one of my favorite locations) videos.
It’s a pretty impressive area. I was particularly interested in how BNSF operates on these lines as the Cascade tunnel is an obvious bottleneck.
Thanks MB for taking us with you. Nice work as usual!!
I’m happy to share my adventures 😊 Thanks!
Great video, awesome catch the GP60B and the ex-CNW Dash9.
Thanks. These units were among the highlights of the day, for sure.
Great catches, love those trains ! Thanks for sharing your wonderful video and your hard work :-))
You're very welcome. I'm sure you'll like the next video also :)
Great video, cool seeing BNSF and UP! Enjoyed seeing the ex CNW unit!
I simply had to see BNSF and UP in their own territory again. Yep, this was cool.
Another great video.👍👍👍
Thank you :)
Well, glad you like the footage of them. Unfortunately, I didn't see one leading. Thanks!
Cool video. Great locations.
Thanks! This line is worth a trip in its own right, but I had only less than a day. But I'm happy with what I got to see.
Thanks I enjoyed your video. Something you do not see very often a B unit. It must be nice for you getting out of the Georgia heat. I watched your video on my iPhone while listening to my scanner at the local airport.

Thanks, but you should watch in 4k on a big TV ;) The cabless unit was very unexpected. As you said, one rarely sees something like this outside yards.
Puyallup is my neck of the woods. Love going out to rail fan this area. Nice shots, good to see you making some good videos up here in the PNW.
Very cool. I wish I had more time to explore some other nice spots in your area, but I had to hurry to get past Seattle to Monroe that same day.
You can get some good rail fan shots up in Monroe also. Our club does a show up there every year in Feb.
Nice! One reason I made this trip was to get some inspiration for modeling mountain sections on my HO layout. I went east through the Cascades from Monroe, following the Scenic Sub (will all be in the next video).

Very cool. Thanks for pointing me to it. I'm always amazed how people manage to model complex scenery in N scale ;)
Really great videos and I really appreciate the information you give.
Cool, thanks!
awesome catch of the GP60B Cabless Loco. awesome power and lashup's. awesome catches.
I know! This was really unexpected, although I know that BNSF's locals are particularly interesting power-wise.
@mbmars01 A Chicago & Northwestern C44-9W made an appearance trailing @ 6:50. Nice! Is it sandwiched in between two SD70M's as well?
mbmars01. Great video. Great scenery.
Many thanks! Scenery is getting even more impressive in the upcoming episodes 😊
4:40 according to placards on tank cars (1267) it seems to be crude oil, not ethanol
The crossing closest to you has the same bells as one that I like to catch trains at.
Awesome video! I was in Troutdale, OR on that day.
Thanks! Lol
Nice! That's a region I plan to explore some day. Was a real surprise seeing the ex CNW unit still in green and yellow. Would have thought it had been sent to Arkansas for repainting by now.
Regarding the CNW, that was my thought too. Probably one of the last catches in this paint...
Excellent video! The Seattle Sub is my home!
Many thanks! Lucky you :) I wish I could have stayed longer (I skipped Tacoma and Seattle), but I already had to be in the Cascades the next day...
i went out there last year, and man i want to go back!
... which I easily understand ;)
This just popped up on my feed, I was the engineer on the BNSF 1664 at the @3:00 mark
Very cool!
I’m glad you got to see the new Siemens SC-44s.
Yes, this was a nice, extra treat to see them.
Loved it. Excellent video.
Awesome, many thanks.
@mbmars01 First time seeing Amtrak Cascades! I usually think that the rear unit pushing them are F59PHI's, but instead they have been deleted, so all Amtrak Cascades trains have to use SC-44 Charger engines, built by Siemens and had to be running permanently. Deal?
a GP60B I love trying to get photos of cabless locomotives
I think it was the first I caught. In my home area (CSX, NS), they aren't used (anymore).
Looking forward to your next shoot that you have lined up. 😎😎😎
Yea, I should be working at it. We'll cross the Cascades... :)
@mbmars01 The MP40PH-3C from Sound Transit and GO Transit (Ontario, Canada) is built by Motive Power Incorporated (MPI) in Boise, Idaho USA.
Nice catch with the 71 on SEDU!
I was happy with most of the catches - a lot of stuff we rarely or never get to see in the southeast.
You did a great job on making this video
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great work 👍
Thanks!
Man you go all over the place lol, Great Vid!
Lol, they don't come to me, so I have to go there :) Thank you!
I love ur VIDS MBmars01 they are so awesome
I'm happy you like watching them!
Awesome to see some one hit my neck of the woods. I do want to offer you a possible coreecrion. Very cool, I’m glad you like it. Thanks for the additional information!
@@mbmars01 No probs man.
This is amazing bro ❤️👍 👍
Good you enjoyed it :)
The second Amtrak train, often you get singlw or dual engines with one running dead. Amtrak use Cab cars, with the prime mover pushing the train
For me, it was the first such "cabbage" unit I've ever seen.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Love your videos keep up the good work! And if you get the chance you should come to Pensacola and railfan down here
Thank you! I have been to Pensacola and in the Panhandle recently, but not for railfanning.
Great video like always
Great you like it.
Great video
Thank you!
my favorite was the cascades with the Seahawks unit at 2:06
Yea, this was a lucky catch.
I know that you prefer not to show the entire train's length, but I am wondering, the UP train at 6:43 that was a combination of manifest/intermodal, was it long?
I didn't cut out much. Both sections weren't really long. I didn't count, but he probably had less than 100 cars/platforms altogether.
Those Siemens Chargers aren't particularly good looking, but they don't sound too bad. Very nice horn at 2:55.
Well, I actually like the Chargers; I find the FPs much uglier.
2:08 2nd and goal at the one, just in case you forgot.
Now you got a taste of the Northwest , which is where I am. Do you want to head back? I go home every year to visit family and kick with a few days of railfanning.
Ah, okay. I didn't know you were from there. I loved it, but the weather... Well, it could at least have been somewhat more cooperative.
Come here in July or August and you won't have to worry about the rain; you'll only worry about catching the trains! ;)
great video
Thanks!
great video mbmars01 :)
Awesome, thanks!
Awesome!! In my neck of the woods I see??? The PNW anyway, I'm in Oregon...
Yeah! I didn't spent that much time in the PNW actually, but rather traveled the entire NW - five states. Time was extremely scarce and my schedule tight - I saw the Pacific only from the plane :/

I also noticed that the work windows are very long in summer.
super video
Thanks!
Is that your rental car at 15:43
No, it wasn't this one. It was unfortunate that this guy parked under the bridge while I was filming. I actually liked the shot into the curve under that bridge.
LOVE the engine at 2:00
Funnily it doesn't even have an engine. It's only a control unit.
Oh ok now I know why it looked a little strange. Im a seahawks fan too ;)
Great catches! Is that your first time to Portland and Seattle? Those cities is where they used to film Grimm the Tv show that used to be on NBC on Friday nights at 9pm.
Thanks! I actually didn't spend time in both cities to avoid losing time due to the typical traffic congestion of big cities.
Fresh newly awesome video :)
Yep! Thanks!
No problem
1664 Horn sounded like a electric guitar.
Haha, not the worst sound.
Great video!
Thank you!
Did you go to Helana,MT?
Nice video!
Thank you.

Do you understand why they put intermodle containers with a manifest?🤔
Saves on power when there's just some of each. UP likely split the train up in Portland.
On vacation or is this a permanent move? Great video, thanks.
No, it was just an excursion.
great video i should go out there
Thanks!
Seattle would be next place in my railfanning adventures
Cities = lots of car traffic. I really try to avoid going into the cities for railfanning. Too much waste of time in traffic jams or congested areas.
Have you seen a DC To AC 4002 NS
Yes, I did, but this was some time ago here in Georgia.
keep up the good work.
I will :)
wow a cnw unit in its original paint scheme but its patched
Yea! This came as a total surprise - even more so as this was the only UP train I saw on that day.
awesome boi. i like trains and nascar owwh wait you know dat. Hope Logano can win daytona :)
Thanks. Long time ago, I was somewhat interested in Formula One, but then my interest in car races faded. They should do locomotive races like in the early days. That would be something lol
Please railfan KC!!
Definitely on my shortlist, but there are so many interesting places to go railfanning on this continent...
Very fine. As usual BNSF has boring power.
I like them 😊
