Hey bro..you motivated me to start investing but i still have a lot to learn... I've set up my account on my luse app and I'm ready to start.. I'm new to all this so bare with me...my question is what happens when the dividends have been paid? Do you have to buy more shares? Do the shares become invalid upon payment of dividends ? How long can you own a stock in a company?
Okay I’ll answer you both 👌 and don’t worry we’re on this journey together . When you get paid the dividend you get paid via a chèque that you can cash in with your bank , afterwards it’s up to you if you wish to reinvest it or not . Alternatively your stockbrokers will contact you when the dividend is ready and ask you what it is you want to do with your profits : reinvest or use it It’s totally up to you . But I’d personally encourage you to reinvest it 😇
Hi Lubuto, have you heard of the Dividend Capture Strategy? Would love to hear your thoughts on it especially with a seemingly stable company like Shoprite that's paying out a dividend this April.
There’s no restriction - it would be wise to put your eggs in different baskets . How profitable it would be just depends on the companies you select to be part of your portfolio .
Hi thanks for the info, am having problems with registration on the app......I can't get the OTP code via email..... what could be the problem Another quick, what is the first step to begin with when you want to invest with LuSE is it registration on the LuSE or opening the brokerage account which of the two comes first am kinda of behind. And where do I open a brokerage account
Try to check in your spam or updates as well… it should have been sent if your email is active . If you have a chance to visit the LUSE offices , you can pass by and open the brokerage acc if not , you can set up your online acc and do the brokerage when you can
Am little bit late here I wanted to ask hope I get a reply 😃 If I were to invest k1000 now in Shoprite with all the calculation indicated how much will I be getting and indicate if it's per month or year both actually if u don't mind... Please need to know....🙏
Good question Asaph, your brokers contact you on how you’ll receive your payment Whether you have the app or not : you should still open a brokerage account with stockbrokers zambia for easier communication
The airtel annual report was released in February 2021 : I suspect that’s when the payment must have been made, kindly contact your broker for confirmation.
@@lubutosiame3103 I m afraid that information is not correct, Airtel didn't pay dividend for the year ending 2020. Please counter check that info. Last dividend Airtel paid was in October 2018, which was K1.20 per share as interim dividend for the year ending 2018.
Bro Thanks for the info, kindly help me do the Math, roughly if I was to Invest with K1000 in any Company how many shares can I hold and how do I arrive at a profit? Note; you can assume your own share price and give an example in Calculation for better understanding 🙏 Thanks in advance
If you invested k1000 in Cec you’d spend k17,5 as the charge on the transaction and 982,5 on the actual shares. Since the shares cost about k3 : you’d have over 325 shares .
@@eliasmtonga6181 what's the profit from the companies..? You multiply the number of shares by the dividend per share. If you have 100 shares, and the dividend pay k1. Then you'll have a profit of k100. How often do shareholders get paid..? Depends on the company, most on Myluse is annually, other a are semi-annual
when you multiple 15 × 3.53 you get 52.92 . we will round off and say 53 ,this means it will take you almost 19 years to get back your initial investment. it may be less may be by 4 or 3 years depending on how the company performs. I am asking you to help me see the benefit coz you can make more money with the 1000 in the very year as to waiting for 19
The benefit may not lie in investing in an expensive and seemingly unchanging company but if you invested 1000 in Zambia Sugar while it was only k1 in January 2021 by January 2022 you would have made k14500 by selling your shares. Sometimes it comes through holding many stocks and receives dividends other times it’s through selling .
Better if companies were giving dividends monthly than waiting for a year to get profit on the investment. Clarify maybe I didn't get your explanation well.
You got it right : companies in Zambia only afford to pay once while a few pay twice . Bigger stock markets such as the New York Stock Exchange pay you 4x , I’m not sure I’ve come across one that pays you monthly .
Lusaka Stock Exchange is just the market where you buy the shares . For example Manda Hill is the mall where you can buy things but you can’t necessarily buy Manda Hill itself.
So far I just know : Lafarge & AECI Mining pay you twice ; I’m not sure if there’s a company that pays 3x. Maybe someone in the comment section can help us .
Three times a year??? Even bonds are twice a year. Thrice sounds counter intuitive, considering timelines when companies declare and/or calculate profits.

No I’m not sure I know what Dividend Capture Strategy is ; enlighten me
Would love to schedule a chat. How can we set that up?
Is there a restriction as to how many companies one can invest in at the same time? If no then how profitable would that move be?
There’s no restriction - it would be wise to put your eggs in different baskets .

Hello,
Thanks for freely sharing this information. It's been a great assist. Looking forward to more.
You’re welcome William , thanks for the feedback.
Interesting for how long have you been investing.
Thankyou Lubuto.
Awesome video fam
Thank you
So after you buy, you just wait for the dividend to be paid? And what minimum amount of shares i can buy?
Minimum investment is k500
You buy and hold as your shares gain in value and also benefit from dividends when they are paid out
How do I change my bank account number I registered with on my LuSE? I have a new one.
So the income dividend is it an annual dividend or quarterly dividend or semi
Depends on the company and how their business has been in the respective financial yr but most companies payout once
wow very helpful video 😊
Thank you 😊
How do I buy shares on NYSE and South Africa and UK
You need to have a KYC approved by those countries , it’s easier if you’re currently living there.
So that k300 as your dividend i have to multiply with that amount that i invested please help.
No, the amount /share that you get is K3 so if you have 100 shares you end up with K3*100=K300.
Thanks brother
How can you find the perfomance of different companies online
Check the stockbrokers Zambia website

The dividend are giving yearly???
So you only get dividents at the end of the year?
Most companies only per once a year- but the payout periods are not necessarily at the end of the year
Zambeef is very interested stock :) what do you think of Astral Food and Tiger Brands ?
