I found the Worst apartment in NYC

- Would you rent the worst apartment in New York? Bad New York Apartments come in all shapes and sizes, and price ranges! NYC Apartments can be expensive, but even at the low prices we are seeing today, SOME apartments aren’t worth even $1,000 which is why they are still vacant. In this video we tour 6 apartments in Manhattan’s Upper West Side and even though I thought 1 or 2 of these NYC apartments were nice, several sucked and aren’t worth even $1000 to be honest. Would you live in any of them? I really liked 2 of them, but thats it! Check out this cheap apartment tour and let me know what you think!

Great news! If you make a purchase on amazon after clicking a link above, the price wont change and my channel earns a small affiliate commission from amazon. Doesn’t even have to be the item you clicked on either 👍
My favorite was the $1,900 one bedroom. No need for roommates. Great finishes. Laundry in the unit. Small, but workable. I'd use the pocket-door room as my bedroom and the tiny room at the end as an office. Maybe have a tiny leaf table for dining between the living room and kitchen.
I'd actually use the little room as my bedroom and use the pocket door room as the living room. Leave the pocket doors open all the time and have a nice sunny living/dining/kitchen area.
agreeed
My thoughts exactly!
Great location too
You can rent a whole house where I live for $1900 a month.
Cash's holy trinity of city living = wine fridge, sprayer, medicine cabinet!!
6:45 2 medicine cabinets
Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks Coffee: blasphemy
Why do they all have a wine fridge?
@@onimcm For wine, I don't drink, so I just use it for soda/water
I would value a dishwasher more than a wine frig.
looks like the NYC landlords are forced into putting some money back into their apartments looks like the days of take it or leave it in garbage condition are over lol
You get more from a tenant if you treat them nice. Maybe they will stay around for a while.
nah. a lot of these renovations look nice on the outside but are actually cheaply done
For the moment.
NOne of these constitute “worse”
My fav was 1, least fav was actually 2
@@CashJordan I'm with you, Cash. I thought the first suite viewed was the best of the bunch.
I have lived in much much worse! Rats, roaches, mold, broken widows etc. In the east village alphabet area there used to be many tenements with toilets in the public hallway and small bathtubs in the kitchen.
@@hewitc Yikes!!
Yeah, none of these are even close to the worst apartment shown on this channel.
Aw, I wanted to see a shitty place! All of these places were basically fine in their own way!
You and I have a different definition of "worst" apartments.
Same. It's Not the worst.
But the price is allways to much.
The titles are click bait. After watching about ten videos you realize all the apartments look alike and get bored. He has to keep you engaged somehow in order to keep making UA-cam money.
@@Atlantya
I think he's VERY entertaining & interesting
Lol ! This was a pretty nice apartment. Cash is hilarious I’m constantly laughing .. the snow sled into the street comment almost caused me to choke on my cup of water so funny !!!!
My defination is "A park bench with dog pee and Human poop"
🤣🤣
I would love a full apartment tour of each of these apartments. My head is still spinning after viewing so many apartments in only 8 minutes! Love you Cash!
Lol sorry
I loved it! It was a whirlwind tour. 💜
This was lile the cliff notes version of your usual videos. That last unit for an extra 100 a month was the best of all of them. In unit laundry AND a sink sprayer? GOLD!
You forgot to mention Cash's favorite... MEDICINE CABINET 👌
Yes! I would take that one in a heartbeat if I lived in NYC 😊
I can see why these poor New Yorkers are flocking to Florida in hoards. None of these apartments are worth the price in an area with massive taxes, crowds and cold weather, not to me anyways.
New Yorker here, who is in Orlando, FL, I have a brand new 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house for $1,700 a month. I moved cause of my job. You are absolutely right about the price vs space. Love my house but will always love my New York still.
It’s about the surrounding city, there’s so much to do and see in NY, yeah there are high prices and all that but it’s worth it imo
New Yorkers risk moving to Americas vestigial tail as a tax haven or a place to die . Florida is truly beautiful 5 months out of the year ,however it isn’t a place to live if you are looking for job security or a social safety net. I say this fully knowing that my wife wants to move to Orlando .
No one is moving to Florida....no one wants to get the virus
@@TimNewmanGaming Nice! Same, 4/3 but after home insurance and taxes mine is $2300 a month.
new toilet seat $25.00 Monthly Rental: $2,000 How generous of them
Think he means it’s a sign of thoughtfulness and attention
It's illegal to LEAVE an old toilet seat....Every NEW tenant HAS to have a NEW seat !! It's the LAW.....( probably... especially now ...with the virus...)
I really thought they would be worse
I live in Manhattan...I don't get it either.
That second one has such a random staircase to a random floor to a random roofdeck with another roofdeck
Yeah totally
@@CashJordan what device are you using to get measurements of the rooms and apartments in all your videos? Can you share please thanks
@@SSKingofNY Cash posted it in the description...there's a link...
@@CashJordan the link for the item that takes digital square footage estimates of the apartments you tour is not in the description can you please share what the item is called or where to purchase it?
Thanks
@@SSKingofNY the link works fine for me. Google》 Bosch Laser Distance Measure
The two near Central Park (and so close to the subway) appear to be good values for the price. The very small 1-bedroom would actually be space enough for me, well-equipped and no stairs to climb. The upstairs apartment had more space (almost shareable) and laundry, and my one hesitation would be the number of flights to climb to get to it. If you're young and don't seek lots of night life, the upstairs one is a great deal!
All of these were great! None a "worst" in the bunch.
Yes, full tours on all, please. They are all really, really nice. For anything on the first floor rats may be a concern, but having a backyard is awesome. The one by Central Park was a real steal. Love them all!
Thanks glad you liked them
OMG! Rats 🤢! I think about them too. Gotta stay away from the ground floor and apartments over restaurants and grocery stores. Antique furniture shops sound good to me 😂! I'd rather fight termites than rats any day.
I was glad to hear someone else mention the rat reality.....roaches can be a huge issue in NYC 😭
Yeah, I'd never count one of these as the worst one you've seen. Remember that basement "apartment"? That'd be it for me. I still wanna see more crazy ones we've heard about (tiny closets, bathtubs in kitchens, etc.). Or were those all myths?
Lightening round!
Loving the one with spiral staircase down to glass bricked-off half bath & garden space 💕
The last one, the $1,900 is great! Completely worth the $100 plus from the downstairs one. I'd make the smaller room a home office and squeeze in living and dining next to the kitchen. That would leave the room in the front of the apartment to be the bedroom. If I had to choose one for a full tour it would be this one. Cheers
I would put a king size bed in the living room, and figure everything else out!🤣
I've always heard that apartments in NYC are ridiculously overpriced, but with 1 bedrooms going for 1900 in Atlanta GA these days, they are looking more and more affordable.
I'd never live in New York State because of the gun laws, but if I didn't care about that, these NYC prices are no longer outrageous.
Definitely the one for 1900. It has LAUNDRY and a beautiful kitchen. Love the natural lite. Thanks Cash.
which of these is supposed to be the worst apartment in nyc
Depends on who you ask - Some of the commenters hated all 6 lol. I liked apt 1 the best
@@CashJordan i would live in any one of those so maybe i dont know jack about nyc apartments
I feel like I got trolled. Deceptive title. You must be a Slytherin.
Just clickbait
It's a clickbait title. I hate that. 😒
Where was the bad one? like id actually be interested to see some grind apts lol
Same! They might be a good option for someone starting out in the city if the prices are lower.
One of these I want a fan of. My fav was 1
@@CashJordan Curious though which one in the video was the one you weren't a fan of?
Of course I happened to click on the one New York apartment video that shows off my ex boyfriend's former apartment
Wow
LOL
The apartments here looked phenomenal! Cash, is the title and description meant for a different video?
I would like a full tour of the last 2 bed with the two outdoor spaces. But the first thing I would say to the landlord is fix the door to the deck. That had a gaping hole where you could see light which means roaches rats etc and your heating bill would be outrageous
I love the full tours and watch daily!
ditto but not for the apartments :0)
Awesome
I love your tours Cash!! They are fabulous! The first apartment that you viewed is the best of the bunch, for what I'd consider. I really liked the living room and the size of the bedroom. That the owner put a new toilet seat on impressed me. It speaks to thinking about the person renting.
first floor apartments always scares me like anyone on the street can watch u or break into ur apartments it’s paranoia for me.
I lived in a ground floor apartment in the city in the 1970s. My windowsills were at grade level. I had to make a fake stained-glass window panel out of acrylic to keep people from being able to see into my bedroom. And it was noisy - people would hang out on the street corner outside my window and play their boom boxes loud.
I have lived in a ground floor apartment. My strategy was to put heavy stuff infront of them. One had a curio cabinet, another had a shelf, etc. I still had light, but IF someone tried to get in, they'd be causing a LOT of noise and that was if they could even squeeze through.
Some of those are really pretty but there is no way in hell I'd ever live in new york. Those prices are stupid expensive for nothing! I think I'll just stay in georgia where my place is 3 times the size for a third of the price.
I was thinking the same thing i have a house for 485 a month. 800 sqft
Yeah but you’re bored out of your mind
NEW YORK HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXPENSIVE
EVERY STATE IS GONNA BE DIFFERENT PRICES
you know what? You go ahead and stay in Georgia with your uppity attitude. Different things are important to different people and for some people, the culture NYC provides and the entertainment are far more important than a big place in boring Georgia. Maybe try to understand that not everyone cherishes living in a big house as a status symbol. Plenty of people look down on you and laugh like you are NYC residents. Hashtag said from a girl in small town Illinois.
@@TraderTravels the girl just mad she can't afford to move out of Georgia 😅
Just recently started watching this and from day one the dimensions
Shocked me. I have had walk in closets larger. Had no idea.
Yep they small
Most out of towners dont realize these apartments are small. But if you are from NY and i show these to any of my family or friends, they will disowned me for paying so much money for a closet space. 🤣
I'm not moving to New York don't plan on it ever but there are some reason I'm fascinated with watching your tours of apartments 2 thumbs up for you!
The joy that medicine cabinets bring you! 😂😂😂 I love it!
2 and 4 are AMAZING!!! The price seems really low for all that. And 6 is also awesome for that kitchen, 3rd room, and location. Great finds! If it weren’t for your mayor and gov, I’d leave Wisconsin. Lol
I would like a full tour of the last two apartments
okay that last apartment? if i lived in NY right now, i'd take it immediately
I'd go for the last one! Two bedrooms though it is advertised as one and laundry and near Central Park? Yes!
Cash, coffee and Reeses Cups perfect way to start the day. Interesting apartments today. Missed Cash going down the stairs. I like apartment 1 the best.
Yep #1 was my fav
Title : the worst apartments
Me : I love all of them
I love the 1br by the park on the 1st flr. Great deal for a single person.
No first floor for me!
Honestly I’m not paying $3000 a month to wake up every morning and feel like I’m in prison, those bars gotta go!!
I never understood those bars. I mean yeah they're supposed to be for safety but they're ugly as hell. They do that a lot in France, they ruin the look of houses, no one wants to live in a prison (voluntarily). I've never seen that in Switzerland (where I live)
@@marianna3253
I would love to visit Switzerland it’s beautiful there, Lucky you!!
Wow these are pretty big actually , especially the first two . I’m surprised 🙌🏽. Rent prices weren’t bad in the first two either
The apartment was so fast I got dizzy. My favorite was the duplex with the 2 level outside space.
No neighborhood tour. No food critic. Where has my Cash gone?
Don’t worry tomorrow I’m back
Where’s the Dunkin?🍩☕️
I absolutely love your videos! You have such great character that shines bright 🌞✨💛.
So glad I found your UA-cam. I've been addicted even though I'd never move to New York or any city ever again after I grew up here in Tampa, Florida. I really enjoy my country living
These are insane. I've been here the entire 2000s except for 3 years abroad and I'm used to anything like these costing $3000+
My bf and I became homeowners last summer when we bought our own apartment in Battery Park. Although we aren't looking to rent anymore, we're both such fans of your videos that we watch them ALL THE TIME!! It's like our thing. He's a Construction Manager and works renovating and building apartments for a Building Owner company across the city so he enjoys this stuff. I enjoy looking at the many places there are across the city. Your videos make our day 😄
Thank you!
New Title 'Worst Decent Apartment"
I was pleasant surprised too, a good clickbate
I really liked that last apartment, all your videos are great!
I just love how happy you are when you see a medicine cabinet.
And sprayer...
Love watching your videos every day, be safe.♥️
am i watching this instead of paying attention to physics? of course who wouldn’t lol
This is more valuable right now than physics lol
The physics of renting an apartment in NYC.
No way, I’m doing the exact same thing rn. Circular motion can wait haha
You might regret doing that, Get back to work!
@@1reaper2 unless she dreams of being in real estate
Always wanted to live near Central Park
But not on the first floor!!
So much for rent now, guess it’s best to go as fast as possible to give us a flavor of all the choices!! Even a fireplace, always a dream but be careful, ha!
Thanks Cash❣️
That tile you see in the bathroom must be a bargain because you see it in almost every NY apartment. Lol
Cash Jordan , love the way you edit your videos and your sense of humor.
Actually when you do rent or buy an apartment, a new toilet seat is mandatory
Hey Cash I have a challenge for you
Find a new york apartment under 400 usd
It doesn't matter if it's a studio apartment or a 1+ bed 🛏 and it doesn't matter where it is as long as it within the city
If that is what you call "worst" in nyc....I am glad for you, for you have been spared the real "worst" ones....
I love the way you always excited about medicine cabinet even tho you found them almost in every apartment
103 between Central Park and Manhattan Ave, ah memories. I used to live in the NYCHA houses West of that block and I would not walk down that block from the A line back in the day at night unless I was armed. Probably not as bad now, but that block was sketchy.....
Definitely not bad anymore. Now there’s a Whole Foods and all these boutiques up and down Columbus.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the full detailed one property tour videos - but these multiple apartment comparison videos hit differently! Love from London Cash
Thanks I wanted to try this and see how it went
@@CashJordan when there’s half a dozen apartments in the same area, think it works perfectly. Can’t wait for me!
Well I split for coastal Florida, third of an acre and a pool, 3,550 square feet (master suite is 995 Sq Ft) and my principal, interest, tax, and insurance is $1,151. All new quartz counters through the house, new toilets, new heating and AC, new pool resurfacing, new pool pump, new water heater, new taps and sinks, fresh paint inside and out, fireplace works well on rare cool nights, 17 foot ceilings, huge garage and lanai, with screen enclosed for lanai and pool, no bugs. New stainless steel appliances, quiet safe secure community, Gulf of Mexico 3 miles, but at 100 feet elevation so no flood insurance to pay. I have lived and worked in New York and I am sorry, but all the hyper expensive facilities and entertainments you may have do not make up for the city being a total toilet. Here I and only I determine how much interaction I have with other people, there are not thousands of them living literally on top of me. I may never see snow again, and Tampa/Orlando have plenty of entertainments of their own, not to mention I can take a 90 drive over to the Atlantic and watch spacecraft being launched. Yeah there are dickheads here, but please, like there are no dickheads in NYC? Oh by the way, no income tax.
To each their own, right? I personally feel like you do, but everyone has different wants and needs, not to mention social circles and jobs.
If that works for you, awesome. Not everyone wants to live in Florida, though. I'd take NYC, or a cabin in the Blue Ridge.
That character-building was great. I'm a sucker for architecture like that. I loved the rooftop deck on the second building.
Cash is grinding more than 90% of UA-cam
the $1900 1-Bed in-unit washer and dryer seems really attractive.
Hi Jordan anyway you can cover billionaires raw on 57th street? I know many of those places are for sale as condos but with the NY real estate tanking down so fast i was wondering if there are any good rentals available on 57th street otherwise knows as billionaires row?...... but in 2021 it might be getting a new name 'millionaires row' because all the Billionaires are already in Florida
I’d love to
mr @@CashJordan yeah lets invite them
gather in central park to have a coconut party
into doing coordination
out doing public relations
the management did it with two different people
but you can do it alone [haha]
Antique shops are very exciting to me 😊
6:45 MC extravaganza!
And yes, do a full tour for those last 2!
Every time I see a wine fridge, it makes me want to drink--and not in a good way.
basement is always scary to me....can't imagine having toilet and room at the basement with no window...
Soooo which one was ‘the worst apartment in NYC’??!?
None of them, we all just got clickbaited 🙄
#2 is amazing. Love the half bath in the basement and the laundry room shortcut
4:47 "If those people have a party, maybe they'll invite you"
Very optimistic, Cash. I like it 😆
I love number 2! I like that you always open the random doors too lol
I live in California and I’m like these places are just as expensive or slightly more lol
These are some of the best I've seen on this channel! Dang YT says this vid is 1yo watching it in 1/23, but it says for anything over 1yr and under two (or whatever years)...I bet this was from like 2/21. Too bad that pandemic pricing couldn't stay.
Or, I could just stay where I am and throw my extra cash out the window...hmmm
I like this format. A variety of apts in one video.
I’m a nurse and with my two kids I could never afford a place big enough in NY for us to all live comfortably. So I’ll stick to just visiting.
I move to NYC im using this guys links. There is so many apt choices thanks to this guy for the tours
which one was the worst?
I didn’t love 2
Great job again Cash. It's unlikely I'll move back to the City. It was a financially challenging place for me to live. But I can dream, can't I? 😊
Man I always laugh when you refer to a hallway as a living space.
Love your videos my man! Keep up the good work 👍
U know hoboken is basically brooklyn but for cheap
Yeah but it's in New Jersey which shouldn't even be classified as a state, maybe a prison would be better.
It's not cheap. Brooklyn has cheaper neighborhoods.
Cash, you make New York seem so cool. I didn't see any apartment that I would consider being the worst but my favorite was the second apartment I believe that had the little outdoor patio space
The last one with laundry was nice . Good price/finishes ratio.
the last one was the best , laundry in unit , small but modern and new lookin bathroom with an actual shower plus window
I would love to see you do more bad apartment nyc tours. I find them entertaining & amusing to see. Think it would be fun yes!
Ok!!
I liked the arched window. If the fireplace is a no go I suppose you could mount the tv above it, or maybe even if it is?
And for $2000 a month I'm living on 5 acres totally wooded and private with a 4 bedroom 3 bath house, with a huge shed with an apartment and full bathroom and sauna. Yes, it rains a lot here but the summers are amazing, oh and did I mention the pond?. I love this place in northern Washington. How blessed I am. New York is an amazing place with everything you could want right outside your door, and I love your videos!.
Hi Jordan It's Howard from St Louis, I like all of the apartments, particularly the one with the glass blocks, which adds an interesting touch, and of course any space that has the exposed brick is an added bonus, very nice, nice, nice!!!
Awesome
I’m so amused by your love of the kitchen sink sprayer ! Kills me !
I actually loved the last one and would love to see more!
I like the 3rd one with the upstairs you can stand up and walk out to your.....double rooftop decks. Super nice! And I like the last one, it's a great deal , little narrow but you don't have to haul furniture up stairs or elevators. So yeah 3 and 5?
alllllllllll of the places I've seen on your channel are GORGEOUS. (I have realized my living standards are quite low, actually)
The last two to me are the best. I’d definitely like tours of those. The one with the upstairs and roof was nice but such a small kitchen.
That was a blitz! I wish that I could see that many flats in real life. 2 is the most i could hope to see and that is if both are in thesame area. It also doesn't help that I have a very poor sense of direction LOL.
That toilet seat comment had me dying cuz.... NYC LOL.
Lol
I enjoy your content; sometimes I dream of moving to NYC!
These were all surprisingly very updated and clean! But too small and claustrophobic for me! I'm glad where I live you can get a full house(2-4 bed) with those prices!
I like the first apartment with the space near the kitchen, you can use the opening as a "home office' albeit small.
