Such a cool human moment to see him debating going back, knowing the pain that he would have to endure. Nice to see him going through the same internal struggle the rest of us do.
Congrats to Jim Walmsley for a fantastic Grand Canyon R2R2R Run! Jamil, this is probably the best short Grand Canyon running video I have seen so far. I'm so impressed you were able to hold the camera up steady while chasing Jim down the uneven stairsteps coming down from North Rim to the Redwall Bridge. So glad you were there to capture the moment!
Having done N Kaibab several times, watching his pace coming up that trail RUNNING is utterly astounding. Kudos to Jim for being the first human on the planet to go under 6 at R2R2R.
I keep coming back to this video and every time I'm awed as if watching for the first time. It's perfect, the music, camera work, Jim, trail, sick FKT. Love it!! 535 Likes and NO dis-likes.
What an insane accomplishment! Walmsley is a friggin beast and I can't wait for him to hit WS100 in 2017, it's going to be sick! But this, this is incredible, congrats to Walmsley for an amazing run!Jamil thank you for the incredible film, you never stop getting the best stuff!!!!!
Awesome capture! Walmsley is definitely putting his stamp on Ultra Running - Thanks for filming such an awesome achievement. I am really enjoying your content on UA-cam.
Imagine that.. Being able to see the other side of the canyon, whilst consciously aware that it's actually further away than it seems... 20 miles away!
I would have to agree - dope gimbal work and on keeping up while filming. U filmed a historic trail event which is rare. I've been wondering why this stuff isn't televised on a regular! Thanks for giving it to the masses for free :-)
It’s amazing effort what Jim can do rim to rim x2 and less time than it took me to get down the south Kaibab to Phantom Ranch Granted I did have 40 pound pack and in the middle of the summer but nonetheless that’s pure craziness much less the cameraman it wasn’t for him this video would be possible so a little props to him Just can’t help but wonder what people are thinking when they see this dude running back down that just ran past them just a few minutes ago
Where can I find this song, it's not on youtube or Spotify? I love it too much! D: Also, freaking awesome FKT. Really hard to taper properly after watching this, just wanna blast some trails!
Good stuff. Does Jim still hold the record? Ultra running is kind of a small sport, so I wonder if some of the top marathon runners would be able to easily beat his record. Any thoughts on that?
He still has it. I’m sure there is someone who could, but your average top marathoner would need to work on their technical climbing and descending to tackle the canyon that fast.
Can someone explain how he does this with almost no water or food? I'm somewhat in shape, and when I ran R to R to R (granted, it was hotter, in late spring) I needed liters and liters of water and sandwiches, bars, gels, salt tabs, etc. etc. What is happening inside his body that lets him run with no fuel?
How did you keep the shot so steady running 6 min miles? I am a runner and camera guy too. Great video, super impressed with your work. What was your camera setup?
So, I've watched this twice now. I've finally figured out why I think Walmsley will win in Europe. Anyone care to guess why? At least what trate of his makes him competitive in their game.
That's like saying dunking is impossible because you can't do it. You're watching the best .0001% in action. Walmsley, Jornet and the like have abilities that transcend normal human capacity.
Dude can run from rim to rim faster than the shuttle bus takes to drive there. By an hour.
@Henrik Jamison where's that other fake comment saying something like "yeah I'm using it right know, works good dude, thanks"?
I keep coming back to this absolute masterpiece
You stole that line from a Weird Al Yankovic fan.
What take most people 60lbs of gear and a long weekend he just did with two water bottles, a pair of hokas and a long morning. awesomeness!
Pretty incredible.
I read "awsoreness", and thought it was quite accurate
Love just watching this.
Such a cool human moment to see him debating going back, knowing the pain that he would have to endure. Nice to see him going through the same internal struggle the rest of us do.
Unreal! Such an incredible achievement and beautifully captured thanks Jamil! So exciting to have such great Trail/Ultra content growing on UA-cam.
Thanks for the support Harry! Means a lot!
Let me know and get in touch if you ever fancy hitting the trails in North Thailand!
Awesome thanks!
Congrats to Jim Walmsley for a fantastic Grand Canyon R2R2R Run!

So glad you were there to capture the moment!
Thanks Benedict!
I've watched this and the long version dozens of times.....coming back to see it after Jim's WIN at UTMB!!!
The awareness and focus is unreal. He knew at the turn around how bad it would hurt and just plunged right back in.
I wasn't sure what he was gonna do when he was saying all that at the rim, glad to see he stuck it out.
It just clicked that he was done with this before lunch! Great video as always.
Having done N Kaibab several times, watching his pace coming up that trail RUNNING is utterly astounding. Kudos to Jim for being the first human on the planet to go under 6 at R2R2R.
Albert Shank that's not an easy climb
No, it is not an easy climb! It's a brutal climb! And Jim was running it!
JamIl with the impeccable camera work while flying down one of the natural wonders of the world chasing the fastest Ulta runner in the world💪📹🏃♂️
Pure awesomeness to capture this on film! :) You're truly dedicated and we love you for it.
Thank you!
"Just going to roll down" *proceeds to fly down the canyon. haha Great footage.
I keep coming back to this video and every time I'm awed as if watching for the first time. It's perfect, the music, camera work, Jim, trail, sick FKT. Love it!! 535 Likes and NO dis-likes.
This SO rocks! Thanks Jamil for filming, and Jim for doing a little running! Just wow!
You are very welcome, thanks for watching.
Best canyon video I have ever seen! Amazing accomplishment!
Thank you!

Chris Butcher m
super smooth videography!!!! felt like a drone was following him. great capture. and congrats to Jim
Thanks so much!
It was a drone, just not air-born. DJI Osmo
Awesome! What a beautiful video of an amazing feat. Thanks!
Insanely good camera work. Stay safe dude
+Blake Thanks man!
Agree. Good job, man! ;)
Indeed. Insanely safe.
What was the camera?
Awesomely awesome. This is inspiring.
Remarkable. Where just one misstep can ruin your day or worse. And you guys are flying downhill like that. You brought the canyon to its knees.
Headed there in April for my first attempt. Thanks for sharing this as it fuels the stoke!
WOW!! that is the definition of moving fast and light - incredible!
Walmsley is a BEAST!! Great video Jamil!!
Another awesome video Jamil! So cool that you were able to capture this unique moment! Gotta get an Osmo...cheers!
Thanks so much! Overall the Osmo is an incredible camera, still a few drawbacks, but I've yet to find anything to match it.
Awesome capture! Walmsley is definitely putting his stamp on Ultra Running - Thanks for filming such an awesome achievement. I am really enjoying your content on UA-cam.
Thanks for putting some great footage to this record! Really well done.
I love watching him run. It makes it seem too easy.
Amazing video, but it's about 5 hours and 49 minutes too short. I would love to see the whole thing. Mesmerizing!!
+Jeff Dinkin I'm uploading a 26 minute "unedited" raw version of my entire run with Jim as we speak!!
That is one high quality video. I was at the canyon once and it scared the crap out of me. And I wasn’t even close to the edge.
Great video! Walmsley is the best!
Well done Jim, what an amazing run and what an amazing trail. nothing like that in the UK that's for sure.
Wow, good job. Love it. Totally beautiful run, your quads must be toast for days after that run.
Must have been a good training run for the camera man!
Late to the party but wow. Siiiiiiick vid. J-dub is an animal. Literally.
"I dunno....could be a hard bonk" wld be a great intro to vids 🔥
Imagine that.. Being able to see the other side of the canyon, whilst consciously aware that it's actually further away than it seems... 20 miles away!
Amazing and beautiful! Love this!
sure nuff makes me wanna go.. thanks for such a great video.
Awesome video !!! Greetings from Costa Rica
Amazing vid. Thanks so much. Now I need to go for a run :)
I would have to agree - dope gimbal work and on keeping up while filming. U filmed a historic trail event which is rare. I've been wondering why this stuff isn't televised on a regular! Thanks for giving it to the masses for free :-)
+Nick Yeates Thanks so much for watching. So fun to be able to share a special moment for the sport.
Wow! Wonderful video! :) Thanks!!
Awesome camera work!
Thank you so much!

Unfathomable! That was so beast!
Jamil!! U are a legend
Thank you for sharing!!!!!
LOVE your content! Thanks for sharing! :)
Coming back to this after Jim's UTMB WIN!!!
🔥
Fantastic!
Just Incredible! WOW!
wow, just wow!
Where can I find this song, it's not on youtube or Spotify? I love it too much! D: Also, freaking awesome FKT. Really hard to taper properly after watching this, just wanna blast some trails!
+jakeydudey101 Epidemic Sound
Thankyou! Love the channel btw
Stunning effort. I'm curious if the time was paused during the refuel on the N. Rim.
+Brian Harder Time was not paused.
this is so sick.
Definitely a young person's work. Couldn't take the impact anymore! Enjoy!
Outstanding.
Sweet, sweet video
dude ! great video.
Thanks!
Grat music, surreal running :))
Wow. Well documented!
Makes me want to go run after work
Top G game by W man......crazy.......
How can anybody not like this record?
I so wish Hoka would have let the crop top continue!
AGREED
He debated wearing the crop top on this run but once he got to the trailhead it was below freezing so he opted for a warmer t shirt.
Is it banned or something?
INCREDIBLE!
Great video!
Good stuff.
Does Jim still hold the record?

Great Job!!!!
Great video mate! Just wondering how you and what you used to film this so well?
Eine großartige Leistung Gruß aus Deutschland
So when is the crew from Mountain Outpost going to break this Walmsley Strava FKT?
Not sure that's in the cards, but it sure would be fun to try!
WOW! He's flying!!!!
Anyone know what watch that is he's using? I believe I've seen Eric Senseman with the same or similar ones
Amazing
Nice video.
Awesome work - love what you're doing here. Is that the Osmo at work again? Smooth!
+FloNo Trail Yes, Osmo!
the regular Osmo, or the x5? Great footage!
x3

He did have fuel with him and had a crew meet at the North Rim. It’s a sub 6 hour effort in October when it was cool out and so he didn’t need a lot.
What hand bottles did he use?
Great job on the video. Inspirational!
I think they are Nathan Hydration bottles
How did you keep the shot so steady running 6 min miles? I am a runner and camera guy too. Great video, super impressed with your work. What was your camera setup?
I'm going to make a video soon about the setup I use, but basically DJI Osmo, DJI extension rod & Rode VideoMicro.
Sweet! Thanks and I look forward to finding you out there. I'm actually doing R2R tomorrow.
love jim. the music sux.
Incredible footage. How did you capture this? Were you running? So many questions... Thanks, i'm going to watch it again.
+Michael Cooney I ran behind him with a camera!
Run Steep Get High You are going to make me run an ultra if I keep watching your videos😀👍
Just do it already!
After my first marathon in November, I'm going to head to the trails
Never seen carrying water like that.
Camera man set a record #2 time after fallow him for the entire thing.
So, I've watched this twice now. I've finally figured out why I think Walmsley will win in Europe. Anyone care to guess why? At least what trate of his makes him competitive in their game.
Why?
What an animal \m/
What shoes is he wearing?
HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR 2
gear report: www.irunfar.com/2016/11/jim-walmsleys-grand-canyon-r2r2r-and-r2r-fkt-report.html
What's the mileage / elevation gain for this run?
A distance of 41.8 miles with 21,420 feet of vertical change (both up and down). He averaged 8:30 per mile. Insane.
...Break it down...
I certainly hope we got some product placement rev from the Coca Cola Company
who is filming him???
Jam Jam
The downhill music is questionable.
Over-rated. It was downhill all the way.
(Okay, maybe just the bit that the camera man did was downhill.)
Great run, just terrible music
crap music ruins it.
I am calling BS on this! I just did the R2R2R on Friday, there is no humanly way possible to do this run in 5:55:20! Not on that terrain.
Brett Johnson have you ever seen Jim before? He's the definition of doing the impossible
That's like saying dunking is impossible because you can't do it. You're watching the best .0001% in action. Walmsley, Jornet and the like have abilities that transcend normal human capacity.
