My mind can remember very little of the first few years I lived in this life. A brief glimpse to when grandpa stuck my hands in the birthday cake. Or that same year, the blurry images of an alien emergency room, masked doctors overhead with a bright white light slowly fading until the medicine knocked me out. A tumor on my left retinal nerve is why I will never know what it is like to see with two eyes.
Childhood: experiencing everything for the first time, and ironically losing that magic every time after that. With curiosity we learn the hows and whys, leaving no room for wonder. I guess that’s what they mean by “sorrow comes with knowledge”. We’re so ready to grow up, oblivious it won’t be how we imagined. I moved so fast through these years, between school, little league and travel soccer. At least I can say - because I lived in the present - I wouldn’t change a second of it.
I’m an angst-ridden teenager. The result of being pressured and forced into the future, while looking back in nostalgia to try and find where it all went wrong; when all innocence of youth was stolen. It was probably once my eye had an amorous veil pulled over it. That lost me a good friend, making me realize my dad was right all the times he told me “you just like to do things the hard way”, because it takes me falling on my face and picking myself back up to learn anything. And it’s not fun.
But maybe that’s what makes me… me. Maybe I do it my way because I don’t want to be like him or my mother, instead forging my own path. To do that you have to make mistakes. Such as a bad six month relationship where I got cheated on in the end. I doubt there’s a moment she is contrite, and I can’t wrap my mind around how that is possible. That’s what makes me better though. From guilt and humility can come growth if you learn from your mistakes (as I’d like to believe I have), whereas you can fall into a cycle otherwise. At the end of it all, I would still thank her for my first kiss if given the chance.
You’ve got to be appreciative and just take what you get sometimes, right?
Nostalgia is the bittersweet emotion that will tease you but can never take you back and fulfill its promise. We can’t be our old selves forever anyway, and you wouldn’t want to be if you could. Be the new you. Hone it. Own it. Everything up to this point has made me who I am and made you who you are. For me it’s only been close to seventeen years. Most would consider me “new” because of age, but in reality I’m also a new me. No longer the same person I was when I used to be a liar, or a jerk. That’s all behind me. I can finally forgive myself and move on
Now I follow my passions and dreams, hoping to become a soccer player, or a successful and published writer. Even all of those. I’m the kid who parties with my friends until the sun comes up, sleeps in ‘til it goes down, only to do it all again. Girls I like still put me in a shy captivation, but the drinks and smoke evaporate and dissipate my anxieties. Finally I can be who I really am.
This is what becoming anew is all about, and sure enough, in the not so distant future I’ll already find myself looking back on today and find myself saying the same thing.

This is one of the songs that makes me feel so fucking nostalgic. I remember sitting there playing PC late at night. Now I don't even play anymore I'm so focused on my real life now... but in some moments, like when listening to this song, I wish I were a teenager again, existing in this safe space of high school, friends and family. It wasn't even that great back then but in my memory it is :D

Oh that's easy, gravity. A more serious answer, they climbed on the tree to the top of the branch then slide down the rope and hop on the swing. To get off, they jump in the river you can see in the picture. Those children have some balls and physical skills in my opinion.

Somebody please explain to me how the two children in the image got onto the swing, exactly. I'd really like to know, because from the looks of it there doesn't appear to be a way onto the swings - in fact it appears downright dangerous. Basically, what I'm saying is, I think the image is some kind of Fantasy.
