Making a Murphy table out of a handmade chessboard

The treehouse is a little cramped. My wife had the idea to install a Murphy table (or folding table), and my daughter had the idea to make it out of a chessboard we had built years earlier. Checkmate! Now we have a highly functional space for writing, drawing, intimate meals, and, well, playing chess.
