Vertigo F5J V-Tail Design Part 3 (Maiden Flight)

We finish up the test fitting and prototype phase and get into actual production and test flights!

What a cool bird. I have low-tail, T-Tail and a V-tail and i love them all. My biggest is a Epsilon XL3 4 meter glider. And then there is my Staufenbiel Mantis 2,9 meter - the V-tail glider. And the smallest is my Robbe Mistral 2 meter wingspan.

T-tails are awesome, they used to be common in 3m and larger contest sailplanes. Hope some designers bring them back for F5J.

Very interesting video. I’m new to F5J, at present I don’t own one but I’m really getting into the videos you have put up and really enjoying them. I have sourced an RES V tail glider as a first step into thermal gliding. So first question and sorry for the newby ask but less down throw than up, is there an approximation on the offset for a V tail to give a starting point to have good turning of the glider.
