Thank you Reed because THE HOUSE IS BEING MOVED! The town JUST granted permission and it’s slowly being pulled back thanks to people like you for featuring and calling attention to the town denying emergency requests.
I saw this house on the news before the storm hit when it was partially hanging off and thought there was NO WAY that it would survive the storm. I can't believe its still standing.
Dang! The house looks like it is on little sticks and the one ready to snap. Too bad they can't get a crane to help skid it off and move it somewhere. Beautiful footage Reed.
Reed, I lived in Pacific City at one time. Storms would cover the Ocean side of a 2 story house with sand. We would get the permits to remove the sand. I shoved the sand off decks, walkways, windows etc.. So big excavator could haul sand back to Ocean.
With the weather being as crazy as it has been for over a year now seems to be getting worse all these freak storms earthquakes volcanoes who would want to live near the ocean it's just going to keep getting worse and there is no way I'd live in a house built on stilts that's just crazy💯‼️ Ty Reed awesome picture 💯
Nobody lived in this house. It was a summer rental. The owner moved the house back as far as possible a few years ago. Everyone who is familiar with this beach knew that it was only a matter of time...
Literally you can see this on google maps though not sure how old the footages are, perhaps at least a year old. You can see others built their house 20metres ( 50 feet) away from the cliffs, while this owner didnt even care... what even is distance? Doomed to fall since the start. How was he even given a permission to build that cottage?
A Lemony Snicket house. Aunt Josephine's rickety stilt house above the lake. Only difference is this house is built on sand while Aunt Jo's was built on rock. Still didn't save her house when Hurricane Herman blew in.
Same in Michigan, all along the coast of Lake Michigan, water levels have hovered around record highs for several years due to years of unusually heavy rain and snow in the great lakes basin. This has caused quite a lot of coastal erosion and loss of hundreds of coastal properties. Some were originally built as much as a quarter mile inland...but nature, and the lakes, are relentless.
Incredible! Can't believe people would build on sand. Oh well, insurance will cover it. Then the cost goes up an up. For all of us. Stupid is as stupid does. Just gotta have that view. :-)

Poor people? They are likely millionaires who will get their house built back by the insurance company. Nothing "poor" about them. I'm not trying to put you down personally. It's just that I'm tired of all of these McMansions either falling in the ocean or being burned up in wild fires and everyone pours out the sympathy for them. They're building in places that should not be built on, and they have plenty of money to live on while their house gets rebuilt by the insurance companies. I'm no staunch environmentalist, I'm just a staunch supporter of common sense and find it hard to feel bad for or defend these people that have more than enough money to fend for themselves.
I get it’s the best view of the ocean, But come on who really wants a home that sits atop some stilts over hanging a cliff. 🤦🏻
6 months ago there were no stilts visable

Building a home this close to the ocean, you’re asking for something like this to happen.
Well, when this was built in the 1800s they may not have understood that.
@@rebeccamcfalls681 Okay, when you buy a home this close to the ocean, you’re asking for something like this to happen.

Absolutely beautiful imagines of the house.,and how the landscape was changed after the storm. Thank you Reed.
This is a great view of how mother nature is always shaping the earth ❤

Nature taking back what's hers. I mean I get it, it's people's houses and lives but eventually wtf did they expect.

Built back in the wagon days. It has stood the test of time. And seen many storms. Great drone footage.
Wow that's crazy. Definitely gives new meaning to ocean front property..

Bible clearly says do not build your house on the sand.
View must be great from that glass house of yours
They just had to be the furthest one out? It makes me think "pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall."
Why? That’s ridiculous. The house falls…they make insurance claim…and everyone else’s insurance goes up.
The house was built in 1899, the waterline used to be hundreds of feet away and no pilings were visible.
Great Footage Reed! You spoil us...😀

I would like to know when(year) they build and far was from land to ocean before it start to have coastal erosion Under it ?
1899
I wish you could've talked to the owners. I would love to hear the progression of this house and when they left. Wild.

Now this reminds me of a movie called Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
That air conditioning heat exchanger unit on lower left corner ... has very good ventilation.

Because it was built in the 1800s.
Thank goodness for the Federally subsided insurance for those houses
The place is all boarded up. I wonder how long it has been vacant.

sad that they had the opportunity to save it at one time a long time ago .... and the town did not allow the modification
Beautiful view!!

Great drone footage
Amazing footage
Castles made of sand, fall in the sea, eventually.
Many homes lost in this manner in CA

Looks like the other house is next inline … bummer
It looks like the house in series of unfortunate events.
Imagine what the insurance is on this ridiculous build . I love an ocean view too but dammmmmmn , water rises , storms come ……
that was one hell of a storm!
Thank you Gentlemen 😳👍
It looks to me as a case of..."A series of unfortunate events. "
Wow a bit excessive you really need a house on stilts.
Hopefully they clean it up before it pollutes the ocean...
VALUABLE LESSON LEARNED NEVER BUILD YOUR HOME CLOSE TO THE OCEAN BUT HUMAN BEINGS NEVER LISTEN ANYWAY
The ocean used to be further away than it is now
Crazy footage
Who had the bright idea to build there
Stupid place to put a house. 🤔
Apt name
It seems to me that they could save those three houses . . . GREAT drone footage!
Nope you are not gonna catch me living in Aunt Josephine's house.
Wow!!
WOW 😎👍 That's Remarkable ❕

That was due to the latest storm, not built like that.
And the one a few months ago with 120 mph winds
No-no.thats finished...
That is crazy
Don't build your house on the sand!
thats the same house from Lemminy sknickett or whatever that thing was.
According to global warming. Florida houses may look like this in 50 years due to ocean levels rising.

That's what they get... The sad part is, insurance will cover it and they'll rebuild in the same spot...
