I just wanted to say thank you! I really appreciate you posting new electro swing tutorials. Because of you I was/am able to come has far as I have with electro swing. Plus you are almost like the only person with over 10 tutorials on electro swing. So thank you! I can't wait for more tutorials! You have inspired me since your first tutorial... lol
Thank you so much for the kind words. It's amazing to hear how much these tutorials have helped you and that they could inspire you the same way how I was inspired when I first started this style. :)
I am happy that at least your tutorials were a consistent part of 2020, when the rest of the year was very much inconsistent... Thank you for another great tutorial! I'm adding it to my back log of stuff I'll be doing "one of these says!" XD take care of yourself!
Thanks very much! Ideally I would've preferred for them to be more consistent, but real life can be well busy at times. So I am glad there have been at least enough of them to keep people occupied. Thanks for the kind wishes. Same to you too. Let's hope 2021 will be calmer and less crazy.
This is amazing! Thank you for the tutorial!! I've wanted to learn how to do this for a while and having the top down view REALLY helps. Keep up the great work!!!
@@MatthewAshworth yeah! I mean how to change from walking man to spongebob to charleston and so on How shuld I move my feet in order to change smoothly, is there a proper way to end and begin stances? Or do you usually stop between first and the next one?
@@giovannipignato4245 Good question. I had a few people ask me this, so I've added it to the list of the tutorials I'll do. I think the best way is to see which stances you need to be in at the start and end of each move and see how you can combine the moves so that it flows well. Some moves follow on really well from others, while other combinations can be a bit hard to chain together. For example Charleston shuffle and T-step can be chained nicely together (as you might've seen in one of my tutorials). You can also easily flip between Charleston shuffle and Running Man. One of the things that I find works for me if I want to change a stance is to kind of jump and change my feet in the air to a new stance.
Happy new year~ Really appreciate of your these electro swing tutorial videos !!! I learnt running man, Charleston shuffle ,T-step from your channel and gonna learn the other in the future . And now I am stuck at the reverse spongebob move, damn that is so hard tho 😂
Happy New Year to you too! Wow, awesome. I am glad you learned so many moves from my tutorials. I am sure you'll get a hang of reverse spongebob too. It just needs some time and practice as with most moves. Best of luck with it!
hey man I just wanted to say thanks a lot for the tutorial videos! I just started getting into it 2 weeks during spring break boredom and I've already gone through all of your videos, a few of the moves I don't have down from muscle memory though so I'm still practicing. Keep on doing what you're doing man you're awesome. Also, just wondering if your friend Darren makes any more music and if you might have a link to a youtube channel or something cause the song used in your videos is really catchy.
Thanks very much. It's really nice to hear when my tutorial videos can inspire others to learn this dance style too. I am sure it must be fun for you to learn it and to see yourself improve with each day. Yes, Darren does indeed make a tonne of different music. Most of it is cinematic and royalty free. But he does experiment with new genres often and he did make a couple or so other swing tracks in the past. I'll link here the tutorial theme and his channel. The tutorial theme was custom-made for my tutorials, but you can download it here: drive.google.com/file/d/1Lko19WJUy28FnTgivZ_dg5V3PIxSJx47/view?usp=sharing And his channel is here: ua-cam.com/channels/E3yg1sjKJvHLz3GlSrPiOw.html
@@MatthewAshworth for sure man it's a lot of fun, and now that I've gone through your tutorials I'm going to start learning stuff from the JSM and Smilin tutorials, also been watching Vico Neo and want to learn some of the moves he does. Ngl tho when I was learning the Charleston you were spot on with it being a bit of an exercise as I became so sore I could barely walk or stand up for 2 days 😅. And thanks for the link too!
@@averagejoessb3110 Yeah, I know that feeling of sore feet and calves when doing Charleston shuffle for the first few times. Your feet and legs do get used to it eventually though. Yes, those guys have a lot of nice tutorials and general dancing videos for inspiration. You probably already have seen videos by Neiland and TakeSomeCrime too. They do some stunning moves as well. :)
@@MatthewAshworth I think I saw a neiland video, might have seen one from JustSomeCrime too just don't remember but the name does ring a bell. I think Vico Neo is probably my favorite dancer (no offense!), his footwork is insane.
@@averagejoessb3110 Yes, Vico is very good, and he always puts a tonne of work into his videos to make them fun to watch. :) TakeSomeCrime is one of the earliest electro swing dancers here on UA-cam. Good tutorial. It almost looks like the polly pocket move used in shuffling the difference being that the foot in front doesn't cross over you body if that makes sense.
Yes indeed. You're right. I figured I'd call it with something different in the title to make it easier for people to recognize as I think most people are unaware of the term 'phase shifting'. Is that an official name for it then? JSM is the only one whose videos I saw mentioning it.
@@MatthewAshworth It is and I hope I can learn it! It seems most popular electro swing dancers have just stopped recently for some reason, TSC has stopped posting, Vico Neo has been gone for 6 months, JSM tends to upload once a year anyway, and SMILIN has gone too. What happened to these people?
@@theblockybanana5537 Probably just life commitments and things like that. And perhaps not enough time to make a proper dance video. (It certainly has been the case for me)
Hiya. Apologies about that. This past month has been super busy with work, and with needing to change the computer too and install programs on there and move files, it caused extra stuff to do in free time. I'm hoping to resume the tutorials soon. :)
Hi, sorry for late reply. Honestly, can't remember now. We have a handful of them at home (one of which is white). Some shops sell them. I am sure Amazon also does.
Yeah, I think martial arts can help out a fair bit with dancing, and vice versa. The agility, flexibility, and awareness of each body part at all times are certainly required in both. :)
I've been trying for some time to find someone to explain this. Excellent job Thank You!
Thanks! Much appreciated.
This is one way to begin the year. I appreciate it !
Yes, definitely. Kicking it off on a positive note!
Yep, this was one of the moves I was trying to figure out...good explanation...thanks for posting!
You're welcome! Glad it helps. :)

Nice job on your new video, it influenced me to go look at this video to see how parts were done, before you smoothed it out. Cool !
Thanks loads. :)
dude, ur tutorials are the best
Thanks!
Must go on, you are very good teacher!
Thanks! Teaching is my line of work (albeit not in dancing). :)

You give great tutorials! Thank you so much!

could you please do more tutorials on transitions between moves? that is what I struggle with the most
Hello. Yes, certainly. Seems a few people are asking about this. :)
@@MatthewAshworth that is beautiful information! I am already happy and will share my emotions with others
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I've seen this move on other youtube videos and have been trying to figure it out for months.
Any time. It's a tricky move to nail down and can require a fair bit of practice. So I am glad the tutorial is helpful. :)
