Yup we were confused for the first 50 pages and then we get crazy news that sends books flying and people screaming. Sounds like a normal experience when reading a Rick Riordan book.

I've always loved how right after that scene where Annabeth calls him a coward, the very next sentence is "I'd like to say my day got better from there. Of course, it didn't." I very much enjoy the Heroes of Olympus series, but the third-person narration means there's a very unfortunate lack of first-person Percy Jackson snark and wit.
The complexity of their relationship in the last two books in this series is just chefs frickin kiss

Hey Ashlee! I just wanted to say that you have been really helpful to me in reading (and writing) class because of the way you analyze the texts, especially delving into Annabeth's character. We are currently reading 'When They Call You A Terrorist' (such a deep and good book) and looking deep into the text and underlying things that cause the views in the books. I found that I really pulled from the way you analyze Annabeth's character and I wanted to thank you for putting out this content, not only fun but useful to see how things are buried from the eye but still show up in text! Not only this but it helps me see how to carry over things in writing class, and keep things relevant. So thank you for the great content!!!

I recently finished this book on my third time re reading uncle rick and, girl, I loved this… I have no friends that have read this series and as well as you said, the series are my home. They have been ever since I discovered the universe back in 2013. Thank you so much for this, it’s 3am and all I wanted was to cry with somebody that truly gets it. 🥺❤️

Random annoying thing:
Why did honoring all the gods suddenly become Jason's thing?!? I mean Percy literally started it and never really stopped!! Then after Kym Jason suddenly takes over... Wth? Not only at CJ but also CHB!! Like what happens to Percy?!? Jason literally got the idea from Percy during that undersea event!! WHYYYYYY IS PERCY LIKE ERASED FROM THIS!!! He literally made this his mission after the Last Olympian!! Nothing against Jason for honoring gods, and if he was helping or something I'd be cool, but there was literally no transition or anything, just: oh look Jason promised this to Kym, let's erase Percy from this entire thing and make Jason the one who always was doing this! Like this was basically Percy's entire point. This is what it came down to, the lesson he wanted to be learned from the Titan war, but whatever let's just forget that and have Jason in charge and Percy doesn't even exist in this! Ahdhdhdjska

Shouldn't the gorgon's blood have technically cured Percy's ADHD & dyslexia too?? but maybe that would have affected reading greek and battle reflexes? Did Rick pass over or maybe not mention it because it is part of the core of the books? IDK, just a thought.
I feel like Percy and Piper would have such a good sibling relationship, not sure why... Did we ever really get Percy and Piper interactions?

I hope you’re feel better also I think Percy didn’t confess to Annabeth cause he never had love before he only had sally he never felt that feeling before cause Gabe crushed it so Percy being clueless makes sense
i’ve always personally interpreted it as percy understanding and being aware of how everyone annabeth loved left her, and as we see at multiple points he does believe he’s going to die in the prophecy, so he doesn’t want to tell her when he has to leave her too. and paul and sally are married, so percy is beginning to have a healthy relationship in his life to look to as well!! even at the beginning of the battle of manhattan, we can see that percy finally has realised and stopped denying the fact he likes annabeth, yet he never actually makes a move until he’s safe and alive and the prophecy is over and he knows he can build something permanent with her. but it’s definitely something that’s up to interpretation, like most things in rick’s books which i love.
I also think there's also a possibility that Percy actually feels super out of his depths and he's legit uncomfortable expressing romantic feelings.
imo some of the the self depreciating humor and the ultra-loyalty to people he loves could be emblematic of a self-esteem issue.
Idk. At least that's what I related with lol.

ok, so i just thought of this. is silena kind of like a snape character? obviously not the bullying and the emotional trauma he inflicted on everyone around him, but her motives. if voldy hadn't killed lily, he wouldn't have turned against the dark side. in that same vein, if charlie hadn't died, silena wouldn't have saved camp in the end. idk, i've always loved silena and always thought of her as a hero, so your views are just a tad bit different from mine, but still interesting.

Never really thought about why Silena went into battle being about Charlie, it's a good point. Idrk why but I've always just kinda liked her character 🤷🏾♀️ maybe the fact that in prev books she was sweet and had some fire in her (lol not sure if that fire part makes sense)

This book also got me through so much stuff during the high school years, I was literally reading it on the night before my final exams!
And yeah fuck LUKE CASTELLAN, I never once liked that little shit. The fighting with gods I get, but the way he keeps manipulating Annabeth and other demigods (for his army) is unforgivable.

I hate the scene with Nico being tricked to hand over Percy, not from a writing stand point. It is just that Hades takes advantage of a 12 year old's unstable emotional state, as the only family he has, and lies to him about giving information about what may have been the only person that truly never willingly left Nico and a stable parental figure, someone he had forgotten, to get him to deliver someone he loves to him. Then he goes back on his word and lock Percy in a dungeon,making Percy hate and distrust Nico. After all that he then belittles Nico and says his sister should of lived instead. I love Percy and all but he was really being horrible to Nico, I get that he may not be able to save the people he cares about but at some point in the middle of strangling a twelve year old you have to realise what your doing wrong. What I'm saying is that he could of at least said sorry but all characters must have flaws. I just keep thinking about the fact that Nico loved Percy at this point Percy strangling him and mistrusting him would of probably hurt like hell and knowing Nico he probably would of blamed himself for all of this. Still after that Nico then had to return to his father because Percy said so not taking into account how Nico would feel. In short I want to protect Nico from the world ( yes he's my favourite character why'd you ask?) and this scene doesn't get enough recognition.

Have you ever read the fanfiction "The Last Olympian -- Through Annabeth's Eyes" or the audiobook version on UA-cam? Highly recommended. Fair warning: it's not complete. The author just abandoned it. But it's good. It's basically everything you love. About Annabeth and her talking about her Percy.
Percy leading the war in NY is so powerful, and then there is the battle in Blood of Olympus where he's like "Greeks... fight stuff" 😂

Quick question I know from read these books Percy seems like a great guy but just think. How many demigods do you think Percy has killed. Like in the battle of Olympus is says that there are a ton of demigods that joined the monsters. And in the war Percy just goes on a killing spree with the monsters but what about the others from the army. What if Percy actually kill like a bunch a people but in the war with the monsters he just never sees just who he goes against because he never really has the time to process what he is actually killing. What if in later he learns that many of the “monsters” he faced in the war where demigods that turned to ash because celestial bronze and the curse of riptide causes all demigods killed with it to ash. The sword does have a long and tragic back story?

If you are interested, I found an amazing fan-fiction called 'Eyes of Silver'. I am just suggesting based on my opinion, it's not finished yet but so far is awesome, and you don't have to like it. I feel like the story with Luke's mom really gives him a _true_ reason for joining Kronos. All demigods have trouble with their parents. And as understandable as that would be with Luke it just didn't feel like enough. The fact that he's scared with his mom getting oracle visions and stuff and his dad never being there with him _really_ adds that extra meaning for him turning, makes it different from other demigods I feel. But he still suks
