- In this video, I will show how to create a fully dynamic Navigation Menu Component. We will go through a step-by-step walkthrough of building dynamic PowerApps Navigation Menu Component that can be used as Left Navigation, Top Navigation, and footer navigation.
You can use this approach to build navigation in the canvas app without components.
Recommendations to use components. Because with a component, you can build reusable controls that app users can reuse as per their app and business need.

Thanks for the video. May I know where have you defined the varcurrentmenu and varshowsm?
Many thanks Deepak. I'm able to manipulate my project based on your tutorial. Great job!!!
You are most welcome
Can you please tell me how to navigate into screen through sub menu items. For example by clicking on SM1 i want to navigate to next screen.
Hi Deepak, This is really a great piece of work. This tutorial answered many of my questions relevant to Menu and Sub Menu Navigation. Thanks for making this video!
Thank You!
Great video. Thank you for these explanations and this video which is really helpfull.
I have a question. How can I click on the Submenu level to open another screen?
Example : Screentogoto : 'HomeScreen'. Thank you for your answer.
Thanks for Watching. Add the "NavLink" in submenu table (similar to Menu) and Use Navigate function to go to another screen on click of menu/submenu
@@DeepakShrivastava : navigate function is not supported
Kudos to you, your contents very informative and easy to replicate..Thank you so much
You are very welcome, Thanks for watching.
Nice video, Deepak Sir. Was looking for this subject, and there you are with a wonderful explanation. May you have a wonderful year ahead. Keep educating...........
Thanks a lot …keep watching 👍🏻
Hi Deepak, Thank you for this wonderful Video, it's helpful to understand how to make navigation menu! But I followed every steps and somehow the bottom navigation menu isn't functioning as the same as you're showing on the video, can you help please! Highly appreciate!
Very interesting. I believe i will adapt this for my needs.
Great work! It works really well. Thanks for providing the link to the component as well.
You're welcome! Thank You.
Great Video, worked for myself aswell. Only one thing thats kinda annoying: Swapping between ppl doesnt really work smoothly. The Power App takes plenty of time loading in between different current users.. Any idea how i can reduce the loading time span?
One of the best tutorial and useful video that I have ever seen. Excellent Sir.
Can I use different component for different screen, where Screen1 will contain left navigation,Screen2 contain Top navigation like this? Please guide me Sir.
Thanks for watching. Yes you can use different component for different screens.
Not able to download from your link. Can you suggest please how to do it? Actually getting error msg while creating varcurrentsm and varshowmn. Where to initialise Sir during component creating time?
Very nice work
Thank You 🙏🏻
Only one question how to import this in our canvas app
whenever i try to import directly into my app component it shows this , "To import from the component libraries, save your library files to cloud and select get more components from the insert pane". what to do now sir
I have the same problem :( And also there's an issue with the Microsoft Transalator
How could you change your menu items based on a user. For example having an admin button that would be only accessable to managers
Thank you for your great work Deepak. I'm very excited to try it out but when I try to import it to my component library, it errors with the message 'to import from component libraries save your library files to the cloud and select 'get more components' from the insert panel. Import it as an app and it errors with the message 'something went wrong. Please try again later'. Any chance you can export it to Github again?
Yes it will try and reuplaod.
Thanks Deepak for sharing
My pleasure
Hi Deepak, thanks for sharing. Just have a question. when i use Top or Bottom Navigation, and click on menus(Calendar, Settings,Help) which don't have submenus the screen will turn blank, not sure if you are having the issue there.
HI Deepak, I have added in navigation to go to different screens through Menu, Submenus - However, when I return to a screen, the submenu is still showing. Is there a way to reset or hide submenu once an option has been clicked or screen changes? Thanks
Your kit is sweet!
Thanks!
Where we need to declare varcurrentmenu variable?
Where is the link for the SVG? I went to your github, but couldn't view the file in VSC or as a text file. Thanks.
Hi Deepak
There is an error in variables varcurrentmenu and varshowsm
Can u elaborate on the video where u initialized them ?
You should initialize it on App on start or screen OnVisible.
@@DeepakShrivastava how?
Hello Deepak, can you provide me the SVG code for the 7 minutes 10 seconds in the video? Or where to get it? Thank you.
I have added a link to component in video description , it include SVG as well.
Awsomework,
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much but if I want to navigate to next screen through submenu for example SM1 .How it possible..
Follow the same logic that you did for main menu. add navigate option in table data for sub meu and use navigate function on click of sub menu
Ok thank you
Hey Deepak, Where is the SVG Icon code ?
Hello Akbar, I have not used SVG , instead I used power apps Icons.
I'm getting error of TemplateWidth in Gallery_Menu at X Position so let me know that how to solve it?
Hi Manoj , You can download the component and compare. you can find the link in video description.
@@DeepakShrivastava Thank you for your kind message and I checked that where I made mistake. Also, thank you for sharing component in video description.
Use legacy ribbon to load this component
Nice video, but I couldn't get the code.
You lost me at the variables, when did we define variables?
Let me know what variable are you referring to ?
Sorry, towards the end when you mention switch logic for submenu. I was creating the component inside teams so the pressing Alt and click was not triggering the submenu selection. When I realized, added the component to a regular screen then the selection interaction started working
