The Howrah Rajdhani Express today. The first Rajdhani Express of India began from Howrah to New Delhi on March 3, 1969.
The train covers a distance of 1,445 km in 17 hours 20 mins. The country’s fastest train at the time with a speed of 120km/hr, was flagged off from New Delhi to reach Howrah.
It is called 'Rajdhani' because it connects the capital of the country - New Delhi to other cities.
In 1969 Rajdhani Express service was started from Howrah. Marking the 50 years of Rajdhani Express on Sunday Eastern Railway welcomed the passengers by giving rose and greeting cards.
Special stamp marking 50th year of Rajdhani was unveiled and a cake was also cut at Howrah station by the General Manager Eastern Railway.
Indian Railways carried 8.26 billion passengers and transported 1.16 billion tons of freight in the year ending March 2018.

I was travelling in rajdhani for the first time in ..2008 so when I reached Patna just to show off I came out of my coach and buyed water bottle as usual as I buy in other train ..soon when I get back to rajdhani I realised shit it is free in this train ...really humorous

I had travelled as a kid with my family in mid 70's n good part of the 80"s from Kolkata to Delhi in Rajdhani Express and I am reminiscing all those memories with your this video..When they started they only used to have chair cars but the thought of travelling in AC with food bring served and the high speed of the train made us look forward for those trips. I used to look forward for the breakfast for their omelets and cutlets to die for..
I am big foodie and till now I remember the taste of those awesome cutlets..I was never satisfied with the two on my tray would always make my father get more from the pantry car.....memories precious memories just close your eyes and you are there...I hardly get to travel by train these days due to time crunch but would look forward to one..this is Rajdhani but I also remember the joy of getting something to eat from the platforms when travelling other times with train and enjoyed the different snacks my father would get down to get during the halts on the way....simple Joy's of life...

I was travelling from bangalore to new delhi on Rajdhani. On nagpur jn we went out of the train to buy bananas. Without any signal train started moving many passenger were out of the train. All were in a hurry to board the train. Many people were scared that they will miss the train. Someone from inside pulled the chain and many people were angry. It was one heck of an experience for me..

I remember my train journeys by Howrah Rajdhani express.. during my childhood and youth days.. Earlier, Chair Car coaches were there. We used to get tea in flask and marie biscuits. When I was very small and travelling with my mother from Delhi to Kolkata, I vividly recall those journeys...feeling very nostalgic.....
