❤❤saw them live up in Chicago in 1980. they blew everybody's minds. jon king was like from another planet. he came out onto the stage about 15 minutes after the concert started. I'll never forget it, one of the best shows I've ever seen. 😂
My absolute favorite band for the last 40 years. They were mostly well-liked, but never seemed to enjoy the popularity of certain others FAR below their caliber. Oh well; they're still going strong, outlasting so many others.
I would normally agree with you, but... They just pulled a stunner by regaining two original members (Jon & Hugo), and regained Sara, plus welcomed aboard Dave Pajo of Slint / Tortoise fame.
It will be interesting to see how the reunion will be. I think the rhythm section with Hugo og Sara will be stellar. I hope the new guitar player will be on level with Gill's playing style. Not sure about King's vocals though, I mean some of the songs is really straining on the voice and he is in his mid sixties now. Hope he can handle it!
Remember Doctor Feelgood after they booted Wilko? The current lineup is a travesty, simply out to make a buck once Andy was out of the way. Everyone in the current lineup bailed years ago; only Andy Gill persevered in following his vision. 'Now all the vultures, they're coming down from the trees... '
That's a bit brutal? I think even now there's some great band's, Suuns, Wytches, Arrows of Love and between then and now we've had Bjork, PJ Harvey, Nirvana, Prodigy I could go on.... Rock 'n' Roll has definitely become more underground

Watching this just reminds me what the loss of Andy Gill means to anyone who ever cared about this band or its vision.
I was at Gateshead for this gig- weird line up including Lords of the New Church U2 and The Police

I was at this. Gang of Four and The Beat opening for The Police.
me too. wasn't there some irish band on before the police? I often wonder what became of them..... 😂
Lords of the New Church?
😂 no, not them. I recall the singer being a gobby type, & he climbed up the PA a lot.
Police should've been opening for those other bands. 😂
RIP Andy Gill, I don't see how they can possibly continue without him. 🥺
he was the last remaining original member, wasn't he? don't think it's likely, in any case. R.I.P.

@@ibelieveicansoar Show w/Pajo was phenomenal- blew expectations away
Pajo can recreate Andy’s sound and even looks the part. Hugo and Sarah are back with Jon. Pretty damn close.
I wonder what happened to Dave?
Really nice sound
Greatest political commentary pit to music since Dylan.

Who is the girl on the drum? I can’t info on her.
It's Eddi Reader.
@@uncontrollableurgh Wow didn't know that , fairground attraction
The girls, they love to see you shoot!
I love a woman in a uniform who can play drums.
Yes, Eddie Reader no less!
It's sobering to think that music hasn't really improved since 1982/83/84.

I don´t think that´s fair. Neutral Milk Hotel, Eels, Built to Spill, Wilco, Pixies, The Microphones, Pavement are great bands indeed.
😂Pixies for sure!😅
😮Sorry, Nirvana were a Big Snore!😂

The concept of this song still carries today. If you're not anti-fascist, you are a fascist.
