Never liked any kind of soap, but my word, Wendi Peters *really* played "evil Cilla" to a tea! The only ever times when I could get into TV soaps was when an actor/actress really burst out by giving much deserved, despite pantomimic, sheer evil performance (e.g. Richard Hillman).
I can sympathise with Rita. I was in a similar situation where another party made up lies about a situation in which I defended myself to try and screw undeserved compensation out of me. The police were certain that I was guilty and conveniently did not look into mitigating circumstances or the fact that I had bruises from where I was attacked. Luckily the courts did not award them any compo and saw through the lies. Its a hard pill to swallow having to say you were guilty and unprovoked because the authorities believe or partly believe a fluff story from someone they consider to be more credible than you.
Tell me about it. When i was 18. I struck a 15 year old bully. He and his group of friends had been abusing me for years. One day i snapped and punched one of them in the face soo hard! He ended up with a black eye for 2 weeks. They said they were reporting me to the gardai (irish police) that was in 2007. Its 2021 now. Im still waiting!
Oh dear, I’m so sorry you experience that. Luckily, as you say, in your case the court saw throught the people trying to ruin your reputation. Storylines like this are important as they educate us about what sort of nasty people are out there.
@@lauraltlifetaylor5611 Yes, I love Barbara’s acting. Rita can make you laugh and cry. She might not feature as prominently now she’s getting on a bit, but Barbara has given Corrie some of its best stories over the years, most notably the Alan Bradley saga. The show’s biggest asset in my opinion.
Bodged up by people who scrabbled through a dustbin if they thought they could make a bob or two out of it such a classic line by Rita and good on her for giving that judge and bench a good rollicking
Why did Rita have to keep talking?! Cilla was asking for £3000 out of court and Rita had to pay £500! Unfair, maybe, but better than paying £3000! I'd pay that just to get them to shut up and leave me alone. I'd call that a win! 🤷🏻♂️
I do wonder how Barbara Knox's real life court case went compared to this? Only saying this because I have *no* interest in soaps but my paternal grandmother has been an Corrie addict since it's started.
no it’s not overacting. she was convicted for a crime she never did, was fined and left with a criminal record. while having the worry that no one believes her and her life ruined over a lie. Addition having to do a night in the cells. So explain to me word for word how telling someone they got it wrong is over reacting?
5:39 Looking back Rita *may* have gotten out better from this if Norris didn't keep coming along and ruin everything! 🙄 *Complete div he was!* Still would not have mattered because Fiz will save her backside later on. PS: The late, great Peter Sallis must have watched this with *great detail* to keep on doing Wallace's voice well into his grand old age whilst he was still alive. Whoever now voices Wallace must also watch *any* Corrie clip featuring Norris with great detail also.
SPOILER ALERT: Can’t remember exactly what happened - but I think events caused Cilla to refund Rita her outlay - not sure of the circumstances that precipitated her decision!
Corrie at its finest. Love this clip, very funny. Thanks for uploading

Compo culture at it's best! Look at here in ireland
I got hit from behind in a staged crash by someone who had a track record of it, i had lie after lie told about me and everyone believed it

all she had to do was apologize to the magistrate...
Even Les looked like he felt ashamed for doing this.
Who’s Les ? Is he the one at 1:09 ?
Yeah I think even at the start of this he told cilla chesney was cault stealing
I strongly suspect he was.
Poor Rita, but fantastic Barbara Knox.

@@zanducktv2398 totally agree, she always delivers! Rita and Barbara are the best
How did she deliver when she appeared in her own real-life court case compared to this?
@@lauraltlifetaylor5611 yes but but Rita did touch him and push him so it's her own fault
#love this clip
Rita is not a child beater because she got a shop to run and she is really good person looking after comsters
Bodged up by people who scrabbled through a dustbin if they thought they could make a bob or two out of it such a classic line by Rita and good on her for giving that judge and bench a good rollicking
poor rita ilike her she is a good fan
Poor Rita
Gosh that main male judge is so patronising and rude I think.
11:54 Rita you dirty mare she probably thought she’d get off doing that 😮
The magistrate wasn't gonna let Rita get away with it.
That court security guard, how hot is he! 😍

She should have locked Chesney in her tuck shop, and then demanded to turn out his stolen sweets before sorting the next course of action.
Aww I hate it when Rita cries😢
Hi
Part 4
Custody in the Uk is Much beater Then Australia and Much Much Much beater then Usa County Jail
And plus, Cilla is an awful mother.
Norris is annoying his voice goes right through me
That stupid stuttering... Aahh aaa aaa aaaa aaa aaa.. String a sentence together properly
He *does* sound like Wallace's long lost twin-brother. Make the actor say "more cheeze, Gromit?"
Wasn't worth the effort for £500
Cheta no you no you with that jailtrim and jailcut you can alone choose Ethiopia tell you what you want to
Despicable, disgusting behaviour.
Rita stands her ground
She cannot do that when she's standing in the Magistrates Court or any other court.

That’s why cilla stayed there for the money
Rita stop shouting and telling him to back off you know the law and you know it's wrong to hit a child or GBH. So stop shouting.

Did Len and Ted really die without foul play? Rita inherited money and property from those dudes. 🤔
