As a teenager I new Brett Saunders well. I was fascinated by his knowledge of the woods and waters of Central NL. I went in the woods with him several times on day trips.
This video brings back so many fond memories of a wonderful man. I wish I could go visit him now, or go on another trip with him.
This is a age old tale. It's a great essay on how modern civilization often disrupts the old way of living off the land. My generation has inherited a very different world. All the rivers have been dammed, and more and more people have moved around the rivers edge.
Though I had seen every Land & Sea show. And i Grew up in Gander Bay. Love this video. Keep posting CBC

The copper colored outboard is a mid fifties Johnson. They had three variations of the copper color for three different years. About 1954 to 1956 if I remember correctly.
A Thai longtail would easily make it up those rapids.
The ambient guitar music sounds like Bruce Cockburn -- name that tune, anyone?
