Hmm, I was curious about trying muscle wire or Flexinol in a small robotics project, but that demo was less spectacular than I thought it would be. For the amount of current needed and the time it takes for a full cycle, I'll shelve that idea for now.
@@PvtHaggard just adjust the convection coefficient to dissipate heat at the desired rate using some membrane, it's just a matter of having the right coefficients

they use it bad, with a longer cable the arm will move much more with a lot of power.
Can you use flexinol to open small valves under water?
No.. It needs heat..
The wire would not heat up quick enough for the leidenfrost effect to come in to play..
