I love the subtle detail of the cash showing the nature of each character.
Slavi undervalues it by calling it 9k
McCall calls it exactly by saying its 9800
And Alina overvalues it in the end by saying its almost 10k
Just a small detail most miss
In the original tv series, Robert McCall ran his work through a newspaper ad. Love this series of movies.
At 6:35 "(the book I am reading now) is about a guy who is a knight in shining armor, except he lives in a world where knights don't exist anymore." Robert McCall is reading is *DON QUIXOTE* written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1605. It is often labelled as the first modern novel and one of the greatest works ever written.
Im gonna be honest i thought that was it since he's reading more classic books, i read don quiote in high school and watched a movie afterwards about it
23:30 "He didn't come for help; he came for permission" is one of the most bad ass lines in American cinematic history.
I grew up watching the original Equaliser TV series. Watched every episode and was sad the day the series finished. Was very skeptical when the idea of this film started on the rumour mill, but I have to admit, I have enjoyed watching this iteration and interpretation from Anthony Fuqua and Denzel Washington. Rest in Peace the great Edward Woodward, the original actor. 🙏♥️
Why did Edward Woodward have 4 Ds in his name..?
Same
Russian mobsters earn tattoos so the fact his whole upper body is covered in them signals that he is no normal criminal.
Eastern Promises has a micro-dive into Russian crime tattoos. Very chilling movie from David Cronenberg.
Denzel Washington studied people with OCD and their mannerisms for this roll to incorporate it into the character. It's why he's so exacting in everything and obsessed with time.
he was trained by a navy seal as well so he could do all his own stunts.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Based on the 1985-1989 TV series of the same name.
Denzel Washington plays a former CIA operative turned vigilante to help those in need of his assistance.
Be sure to watch EQUALIZER 2 AND 3.
"Are they gonna calculate angles to shoot people at?"
No, but for that, I direct you towards Equilibrium, with Christian Bale.
Underrated comment!
Best line.............He did come for help. He came for permission.
There is already a second and third part of The Equalizer.😊😊
You guy's are so awesome.... you didn't talk over the acting or the action... you let things play out... and then you reacted to it ... and I love your dry wit.... thank you for being..... you ❤
Speaking of teachers, my high school French teacher called the pen he used to grade our papers and exams "The Equalizer"
I'm a big fan of Denzel Washinton, but IMHO, this character that he plays (Robert McCall) is my favorite by far. I used to watch the original 80s TV series that this character is based on, and I can honestly say that Denzel's portrayal is the BEST! I hope you'll react to the next film in the trilogy. You won't be disappointed. Great reaction!
You haven't seen a Denzel Washington movie before? I recommend "Glory" "Remember the Titans" "Training Day."
Denzel will be in the upcoming Gladiator sequel.
Fyi, I love your channel and reactions. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Amused by the math intro. He does time everything so there's that. Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the Equalizer movies.
Recommending John Q and Man on Fire for your Denzel list.
For a dive into Denzel's best, I would point you toward his work with 3 directors. Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Magnificent 7 remake & all 3 Equalizers), Spike Lee (Inside Man, Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing), and the late Tony Scott (Crimson Tide, Deja Vu, Man on Fire remake, Taking of Pelham 123 remake, Unstoppable).
Don't forget "Glory"
@@RLKmedic0315 True. Everyone's great in Glory but DW is outstanding.
Denzel wasn't in Do The Right Thing, but Samuel Jackson was. Denzel was also in Mo' Better Blues, Devil in a Blue Dress and The Inside Man. All Spike Lee movies.
@@bigb2494 He is but it's a tiny part. I think I was thinking of Mo' Better Blues 👍 Devil in a Blue Dress is solid Denzel too.
Not to mention John Q , Crimson Tide great movies
"Did he get the raise?" LMAO. 🤣 Equalizer 2 Next!
Thank you guys for reacting The Equalizer starring by Denzel Washington. Next time The Equalizer 2 and 3
You guys should check out John Q. It's a good movie and it's one of Denzel Washington's best performances.
Denzel rivals Schwarzeneggar if you want to binge a catalog of action movies, plus his award winning dramatic roles
36:35 Who begged for his help is a beautiful cliffhanger that is revealed at the start of The Equalizer 2.
In the original series the Equalizer put an add in the paper: Gotta problem? The odds against you? Ill even them.
Equalizer. The early, old west was a dark and dangerous place. The strongest ruled until Colt developed a large caliber handgun. It was nick-named the Equalizer because at that point even the little guy was just as dangerous as the criminals and bullies. Denzel's character serves the same purpose for the weaker people he befriends.
I'm so impressed, you're the first reaction channel I've seen watch this movie, saw Robert sleeping after the first fight sequence in his effort to help Alina, and understood why that was important, and also tied it to him finding his purpose in life now. Bravo. Great reaction, new sub.
Those of us who watched The Equalizer TV series back in the 90's knew the character's background. Edward Woodward starred as a former MI-6 Agent who had a Licence to Kill. Robert in the movies is most likely a CIA or NSA Agent who specialized in Wet Work (Assasination).
Spot on. The Equalizer is about a guy obsessed with resolving PI down to 300 decimal places, and no one's going to stop him trying - not even Russian gangsters. 😮
I would highly recommend Flight, with a different kind of role for Denzel (and another Oscar nom for him as best actor).
Just watch the equalizer franchise, third came in September and it's awesome.
36:24 For that you need the sequels...
The book he was reading at the end was not THE Invisible Man, but rather Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. Be sure you've read the latter.
Describing the math of angles to not get shot, reminds me of Equilibrium. Excellent movie.
This is the third time I’ve seen this movie on a reactors’ channel, but it’s still a great movie every time 😊😎
Book of Eli is worth a look for more Denzel badassery.
He's the man with two character, one with very simple man working in the mall, hanging around with neighbors and friends, while the other one was cold blooded killing machine.
Hello, you two beautiful humans. Probably don't remember me. I was around for rdr2 and the beginning of movie reactions. Life's been weird. regardless, just wanted to say hello and I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction. Hope both of you are doing fantastic and your day is magically delicious. 🤗
Training Day and
Man on Fire are fantastic Denzel films. But he's incredible in everything.
@30:30 -- "mustache" dude has the distinct honor of getting unalived with extreme prejudice by 3 one-man armies: in the equalizer & john wick (both 2014) and in the accountant (2016).
McCall and Susan were DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) not CIA. McCall was a former assassin/spy and Susan worked intel. He's killed A LOT of people in the service of the country, but he's haunted by it. Helping people helps him deal with the guilt or trauma from the lives he's taken. He even says he's done things he's not proud of, but his sense of justice make him a very cool and interesting character. Great reaction.
extraction is a must watch
the whole point of bringing a tea bag is so you don't have to over pay for something that supposed to be cheap. HOT WATER IS FREE MOST EVERYWHERE.
Don't know if you recognized the actor portraying Teddy, Pushkin's "cleaner." He also played Celeborn in "The Fellowship of the Ring." Marton Csokas is the actor playing Celeborn and Teddy; he also was an asset in one of the Bourne series of movies.
Sorry, couldn't find a copyable image of Csokas tho there are many online.
"I thought it was about Math" - Well then you should definitely check out Ben Affleck in The Accountant (2016). Definitely lots of math going on in that movie.
31:45 - The hot door knob isn't to heal. He's cauterizing the bullet wound to stop the bleeding and to keep himself combat effective.
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” - Mark Twain.
People who don't understand Twain's sense of humor think "...the day you find out why." means the day you found your purpose. The why you were born is your parents copulated.
The next best day is when you realize that while, yes, it's a good movie. But I've read that opening quote was anonymous. These guys have it to Twain.
Two Denzel movies you need to watch are “Training Day”and “Glory”. Two great movies.
Robert went Micheal Meyers on the baddies at the end. LOL Not once does he use a firearm, he uses creative ways to take care of the enemies. He gave everyone a chance to do the right thing, so its not like he's some cold blooded killer. Robert is very OCD, it was something that Denzel wanted to add to the character. There are two other movies for you to see. Another good Denzel movie that doesn't get the credit it deserves is The Book of Eli, which takes place in the post apocalypse.
Someone who has never seen a Denzel Washington movie? Sometimes I think nothing can surprise me anymore then I hear that.
the equalizer 2 and 3 is on 🔥
You guys, I have been with you ever since you did Read Dead Redemption 2.
Your reactions seem genuine, not cringe fake vibey either, where UA-camrs just watch stuff with no conviction and just watch stuff they don’t care about.
You guys are S TEIR UA-camrs in my book.
You guys, you are real sweet and I only watch your reaction type videos and no one else’s.
I wish you the best.
I remember watching the 1980's TV show staring Edward Woodward that this movie is based on.I have to say I prefer the 1980's show, as this version of Robert Mccall is to much of a super solder for my tastes.
Just realised, the beginning is kind of like the end of Taxi Driver, but without the lonliness and depression.
I don't think Denzel is going to get a raise at the Home Mart. He blew up the lunch room and flooded the entire store. Pretty sure he's no longer an employee, LOL.
I think, when he turned and looked at neighborhood, he was silently saying goodbye.
You guys should be aware of the original TV show from the 1980s "The Equalizer" that starred a British actor (Edward Woodward) who did the same thing via classifieds ads in the paper. He was far less lethal in his solutions (although not always) and it was really campy but he drove a cool Jaguar and I was totally into it as a young teenager. The intro is here: ua-cam.com/video/g87nDBIyqeU/v-deo.html It was entertaining...
Much respect for the Cobra poster in the background.
"you think you can come into my business and buy whatever you want..." That is the general template for a business, yes. Do you think Slaavy learned that getting his MBA?
Hey guys! Fun reaction as usual. 😊 I think the movie wouldn't be as popular if it was about math, but that's just my take. 😉
Technically it still is about math, especially the way Denzel’s character always counts the seconds on his stopwatch before he annihilates all the baddies 😂😜
@@neptunusrex5195 True... He was CALCULATING his moves. 😁
I always thought that it meant equalizing the power… if a person was powerless and being victimized by someone in power… the Equalizer would fix the dynamics… equalizing the power … kinda math lol
Wait till you experience Eq 2.!! O,M.G. That old saying, You ain't seen nothing yet.!!
Great reaction guys. They are soooo much fun to watch.
Y'all be safe.
If you are exploring Denzel, see him in a different kind of role in SAFE HOUSE with Ryan Reynolds.
Loved your E1 reaction, looking forward to E2 & now E3 reactions. Also have you done John Wick yet ????
eqalizer was my fav tv series as a kid,
Fences, Fallen, Malcolm X, De Ja Vu are worth seeing.
I gave an early like because you both are intelligent enough to figure out the subtle clues about his past early on, instead of just watching and saying, “What is going on?”😂
Yes, definitely about math.
His skills are integral to the story, ensuring nothing his opponents tried made any differential.
Great job on the clip choices.
Great reaction guys!
You definitely need to see Training Day. Totally different type of character for Denzel but I think it's probably his best performance. It even won him an Oscar.
Flight, Gone Girl (non Denzel movie) and Quick Change with Bill Murray are movie i can swear you would enjoy
i still prefer the original series set in new york with an old english man as McCall and sometimes mickey Crossmire helping out and the music was fantastic
I highly highly recommend Man on Fire before watching E3, will greatly improve the viewing experience.
Really enjoyed this with you all/ more accurately from you all
the executions were not just stylish.. they were purposeful and effective..
ps: you'll see this pattern in the next films too..
equalizer as a math movie lmao you guys🤣
Okay, you talked me into it. I've subscribed based upon your reactions to True Detective and to this film. You are a cute couple and I enjoy your reactions.
The RAID 2 is very exciting and suspense come on watch and react
The three letter agencies have a unique retirement plan. When someone retires, that becomes their new "cover".
Unforgiven (1992) please and thank you. 🙏🏼
"Edgy." Except he's not an American where every random software developer you see has tattoo sleeves, he's from a breed where those tattoos _mean_ something -- *earned* and not bought. It's like coming across a stoic Japanese man with his entire torso covered in traditional inkwork, it tells you EXACTLY what they are. The edgiest part of those guys is the knife they'll dig into you.
Fritos corn chips on a PB&J ! Try it.
Equalizer 2 and 3 please
Probably the best trilogy ever
Agree
All three films are great.
I recommend John Q
Watch Man On Fire and John Q if y'all wanna go down the Denzel movie watching journey

“He really *screwed* up”
Lmao perfect
Man i envy your beard 😭
You can't win these types of battles with New math!!
checkout remember the titans another great denzel movie
review: Man on Fire & Unstoppable
Btw his character has OCD
"He screwed up!" - best comment ever after someone gets a corkscrew through the chin.
Equalizer 2.... is *_Definitely_* worth the watch.... But... Equalizer 3..... *_not_* worth it. I'd give this one, the first an 8.5/10.... 2 I'd give a solid 7.5/10.... But the 3rd one... *_barely_* gets a 6/10.
No spoilers here, but there is *easily* only 1/3 of the action and maybe only 1/2 of the story that this one had. The 3rd took *_FOREVER_* to do *ANYTHING* and then when it did, I was seriously _UNDERwhelmed_
You'll probably watch it to complete the series... but.... if you didn't have a channel based on movie reactions, it *_really_* would not be worth your time, as I personally wish I had done something else with those 2 hours I'll never get back.
