Yeah, flour is combustible in the right mixture of air so it has to be somewhat dispersed. However, dumping flour on a fire doesn't provide the right mixture of oxygen and it's pretty effective in smothering flames. It's the same idea as a dry powder fire extinguisher basically.

Don't microwave water without face sheild or at least goggles. I did this in 2013 Thanksgiving was young and my mon had to take me to the ER.
