Catherine, I wanted to let you know that I made your recipe for Avalanche Cookies yesterday, and everybody loved them, including me! They are infectious--you cannot eat just one. A real kid treat.
I think that the white cool whip makes a nice contrast to the brown cake. I’m going to try this recipe with Ghirardelli brownie mix and homemade chocolate pudding and homemade whipped cream, or buttercream frosting.

Maybe you should have used the bowl you made the pudding instead of chocolate syrup...flavor and color is great...I did that...just wanted to share I did not have the syrup...it is truly a winner, thank you for sharing...love it.❤
Catherine ,how about putting miniature chocolate chips on top of it .If a person eat nuts ,how about chopped walnuts ,pecans or even chopped peanuts on top of it. I am going to try it with miniature peppermint marshmallows on top of it .Does anyone look at your recipes under the paper cover ,on the Cool Whip covers.There are some great recipes under them .

I made this dessert for a small family dinner and it was a hit. I had all of the ingredients on hand so it was super easy. I think the next time I make it, I’ll add some M&Ms on top! 😋

Have you tried the chocolate Cool Whip? I haven't but this might be the time to try it. Sometimes you just gotta have chocolate and this really foots the bill for that desire. What a great combo!
I'm a diabetic NOW let me say this if you want something silly there is "diet" cool whip that has 1g of sugar NOW look at "regular" cool whip (it has 1g of sugar) ok so where's the diet part at yep that's my evil silly ant it Ok I live by a 10%or LESS sugar rule (cuz honestly there's really no possible way to completely eliminate sugar 100%) n I take bout 5 shots a day my sugar goes up from breathing I just thought that was funny sorry
Hi Catherine! My name is Leigh and I love sooo many of your recipe's!!! This one looks wonderful!! I think I will make this for my Mother in Law for mothers day or her birthday BUT I think I will do it a bit different!! I will use the Walnut Brownie mix and make it as a cake as you do but for my pudding I will use Strawberry and then for the topping I will use this strawberry syrup and then I will sprinkle walnuts and also strawberry pieces on the top to finish it off!!!! The only problem I will have is keeping my husband away from it before I can give it to his Momma!!! Thank You for being such an inspiration !!!

I would have used the remainder of the chocolate pudding and mixed it in with the cool whip instead of the chocolate syrup...less sweet...but this is definitely a great recipe, looks fabulous...thank so much for sharing, Im gonna try it and Ill let you know hownit came out...❤

Me too, unless I decide to snack on it myself 🙂 I think I'll make another box of pudding to mix with the cool whip, for the top layer, as I'm not fond of Hershey's or store-brand chocolate syrup (too acidic). This dessert looks yummy!
It looks good. I have never tried a poke cake that I didn’t like, so it should be yummy! I think that I might try to stop stirring while the chocolate sauce is still swirled into the Cool Whip. It might be pretty. Then I would cut it on the diagonal to try to hit some of those pokes on the edge of the piece. Cutting on the diagonal may or may not work, but if it does, I think it would look nice. Thank you for the recipe and the demonstration.
Have yo tried a choc cake with vanilla pudding with pepermint crushed candy cane in pudding pour into the holes then try cool whip with more candy cane in the whip maybe a little red food color unit
KATHERINE WOULD chocolate cool whip work as well with maybe some Hersheys added for more overload? Must tr y this for my sister who is in remission and loves all things chocolate. However I am going to experiment with a Duncan Hines Me to brownie mix as she has to watch the carbs rather than the calories. THANKS so much for your idea. Maybe you can come up with some more ideas with the Duncan Hines Me to yellow cake mix and he also makes a chocolate frosting. . . KATHERINE R.
That definitely look so delicious an ideal for chocolate lovers... I used three eggs instead of two and I definitely used butter instead of oil as well. I love how you used a Ziploc bag to put the pudding mixture that was an excellent idea next time I will do that... I'm glad you was up for the challenge...
