I appreciate the hard audio panning L to R for Ham and Alo respectively. Underrated editing. Good job.
The graph told the whole story. Hamilton lifted later, got back on the throttle earlier and we generally much smoother.
They were tied multiple times during the comparsion...
Plus he gets out the corner at higher gears. Maybe to reduce spin
I think growing up where it rains 3 days a week, Hammy has a distinct advantage in the wet.

Smoother inputs, shorter cornering, better braking, Alonso is just slightly too spiky and aggressive on inputs. Lewis is just a master in these conditions.

@@karl8805Aston Martin is on a medium downforce setting, same as Mercedes. RB is running their low/medium DF wing
Hamilton's technique in the wet has always been fascinating, he just knows where to find the grip and apply the right amount of throttle.
Great lap by both legends. In defense of Alo, it has to be said that the last sector was much more wet when he did this lap, everybody was going super slow in that moment and making yellow S3 except Lando.
Lewis was last across the line.....
Hamilton found the grip around the outside, reminds me of what Verstappen did in 2016 Brazil, amazing stuff
Lando utilities more oversteer moments to pitch the car into the line he wants to get the drive rather Lewis taking a wider line to find the grip of the car.
Funny thing is Lewis used to drive more like Lando style in the wet during his McLaren days with the shorter wheelbase cars.
Sprint race will be interesting as well as Sunday race. Lets hope its a mixed bag over RedBull Max dominance even though he couldn't get the grips with his car in FP.

He was clearly running a wet setup. Soft rear end with great traction and grip.
They both drove a great lap, amazing to see them take differing lines in poor conditions. Lewis was brave in last sector.
Those are some very short corners from Lewis considering the conditions. And Alonso is as usual very busy on the steering as always.

Short corners matter more in the dry. In the wet, traction is Paramount. Sometimes that's the longest geometry.

Great lap by both, Lewis made a fantastic last sector. But Ham lovers, don´t overreact. Canada 22 and 23, Zandvoort 23.... There are plenty recent wet sessions where Fernando outperformed Lewis. Sometimes one does better and sometimes the other one.

Alo lost massive time last two corners.
When he did his lap is more wet but all the lap was very interesting.
They drove opposite lines some times and Hamilton gains at entry and Alo normally gains at exit. Nice comparison. Mabye theirs styles? Or maybe the cars?
why their engines sound so different? They share the exact same unit
Norris was 1.5 seconds faster than both of them. I don't know about Lewis, but Fernando definitely didn't put together a perfect lap, because in dry qualifying he is 3rd, which means the car is faster than the McLarens.

@@Credi44 Because Mclaren along with bridgestone tyres suited Hamilton perfectly and were opposite of Alonso's driving style yet they still ended with same amount of points

Merc was faster in Bahrain, Russell was whole race within 1-2s of Alonso in Jeddah, in Australia once again they were next to each other until the crash and in Japan Mercedes was faster but George had poor qualifying and subpar strategy and again he finished just behind Alonso

The rain always shows the TRUE best drivers in the world. Norris is definitely the best driver in F1 right now and it showed clearly in the rain.

One wet qualifying where what matters are seconds not tenths is not a true testament to who is the best. If they ran this same qualifying 100 times, then you'd be on to something.

I mean you wouldn't have expected anything less, Hamilton had fresh Intermediates for that run anything less than top 3 would have been unacceptable with that big of an advantage.
And considering fresher tyres, the gap was extremely small till the last 2 corners where a fresh tyre can make a difference.
