  • Nakasu is the biggest entertainment district in Kyushu located between Naka River and Hakata River. It’s also known as the biggest entertainment district in Western Japan as well as Kitashinchi, Osaka and one of Japan’s 3 biggest entertainment district as Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo and Susukino, Hokkaido.
Did you know that 1/4 of yatai (food stalls) in Fukuoka are all in a place called Nakasu Yatai Yokocho?
In this video, Sam and Kay visited one of the yatai called Nakasu Juban which has been getting attention as a new-generation yatai. If you visit Fukuoka, please try Nakasu Juban and experience how yatai is.

Going to Yatai or food stalls is a must-do activity when visiting Fukuoka. Especially during the evening hours, you can enjoy scenic views of the Nakasu area.

A very nice upload. Oden looks very nice. I wonder if they have vegan menus. I was rather surprised that yatais take credit cards these days! (I always think they are cash-only places). By the bye, the best part of this upload is my very favorite reporter Kay!!!!! (sorry, Sam, you are no match for Kay! I am biased.). I totally enjoyed this vlog!

Thank you for your comment. Although I have to make sure Sam won't see it lol
Yeah, the Yatai we showed in the video is quite unique with its multilingual menu and credit card payment. But other food stalls will be adding this kind of service soon I think.
Unfortunately, at this point, there are no vegan menus available. Japan still struggles with vegetarian menus so I think that offering vegan menus will take some years.

@@FeelFukuokaThank you for your prompt feedback. Still, those yatais must be fun places for drinks and chats for us vegetarians! Looking forward to visiting the yatais in Fukuoka when I visit Japan next time.

    Entertaining and informative video,
As there are not many Fukuoka/Kyushu channels to be found on YT, I was very happy to find these well-made and informative videos. Next year (2020) I will be in Japan for the first time. Because I'm studying Japanese for almost three years at university in Belgium, I will go on exchange to Kyushu University for about six months. Being a student, I was wondering if Fukuoka is a bike-friendly city ? What about the sport infrastructure (especially ice skating, swimming and/or fitness). And last but not least, what are some personal recommondations for eating out (tonkotsu ramen, motsunabe...) ?
    Thx
    Kaï

Thank you for watching our video. We are happy to hear you liked it. Well, first of all, Fukuoka is a bike-friendly city. The common image of Japan might be that most of the people use public transportation, but the majority uses bicycles on a daily bases. About the sport infrastructure, there are one or two skating halls in Fukuoka City which can be used by the public. 24 hours opened gyms can be found nearly everywhere lately. Depending on the area you will live, the access to such facilities might be limited though.
Talking about delicious food would take a lot of time because there is just so much delicious food here. Tonkotsu Ramen, Motsunabe, Mentaiko dishes, Sashimi, Yakitori, Yakiniku are the things you should start with. In addition to that, try to try food from convenient stores. Their onigiri, for example, are really delicious and you might find other delicious things as well there.

@ABAREBUGYO You are right! This is a very good recommendation. Many civil centers offer a variety of sports activities for residents, no matter if they are Japanese or foreign. Usually, you just have to pay a small amount of money, something like 300yen to 500 yen. Even swimming is possible for that price at some places. However, many foreigners are afraid to ask about that kind of activities, because their Japanese is not good enough. Which I think is just nonsense and a waste of opportunities. Thank you for your recommendation

i am a architecture master student from germany and my thesis topic ist to come up with a design and concept for this yatai street in the nakasu district. im focusing on the problem that so many yatai stalls are vanishing form the streets of japan and that the yatai culture in general is dying. I have two more weeks to go, then i will finish my thesis and design. if you (this channel) are interested in this kind of concept, and u would like to see my designs, just message me. i would be very honored, if i could show my concepts and ideas to the people of fukuoka and especially to the yatai owners. greetings from germany

Hilarious US chick , Aussie dude, body language and volume, she can't wait to finish her night and get away from you. If she was wearing a sign it would say, do not enter, closed for business, or no thoroughfare esp Aussies
