Christian was held back by WWE, because they didn't feel he was a main eventer until they saw him in TNA or Impact Wrestling. When he came back they put the belt on him only to push him down on the card once again.
In 05 he was fully on Chris Jericho's level and arguably even more popular than Edge until Edge turned Heel. Had he been pushed against Cena in the later 05 years we could've added Christian to one of Cena's greatest rivals. That said, I wouldn't change a thing cause his TNA Impact run is too awesome and he literally elevated himself and guys like AJ and Joe to a more popular level while helping the show get more eyes. Right now though he's arguably at his peak. His heel run at this stage is literally ultimate Sith levels to Edge/Adam's ultimate Jedi.
@@jkq2006 But every single match? I really hate that the WWE is the only big dog in town. They refuse to book tag team wrestling (even to this day). I'll go as far as saying they refuse to book wrestling.
@mister_malice he never got the heavyweight title until after his run in TNA and the intercontinental title has been put on many people that were never truly believed in or pushed it was kind of a consolation prize to try to keep talent
Christian / Christian Christian was always one of the most mature complete talents in wrestling and he deserved a way bigger push in WWE. Vince McMahon for some reason though always chose to hold him back while pushing lesser roided up men to the moon. There aren't many wrestlers in history as good as Christian Cage is and always was both in the ring and on the mic. His feud against Orton in 2011 is truly iconic. He's the most underrated wrestler of all time.
I not only love that thought process of trying to steal the show every night but the part of that is forgotten today the style of those sane TLC matches was very different than what Austin and The Rock were doing which was different than what Triple H and Undertaker were doing. The problem today is everyone has that same thought process but so many people want to do it the sameway and as a result so many of them get lost in the shuffle Edge and Christian stoodout no matter where they were on the card was because they were different and worked different.
And yet, Christian never became WWE main eventer. The only reason why he won world title twice is because Vince wanted to show everyone that Christian is not a championship material.
@@mrmoviemanic1let me tell you. Christian should have been in the top list same as Randy, John, Kurt, Batista, Edge. Screw Vince. TNA did him right as their top star.
Back in late 04, Christian was on Smackdown and had a bit of steam. I thought him winning the Rumble in 05 would have made sense. He was coming into his own as a character, a swarmy heel but the E went with Batista. Batista didn’t need it. He could have been champ without the whole RR - WM package. This was probably I started falling out of love with wrestling. Christian being kicked to the curb, Cena denouncing his rap gimmick. All just got corny from there. Took a three dimensional character like Christian and made him fodder for the “top guys”. Wasn’t fair on a talented hardworking guy who had put his body through hell for the company AND had personality and charisma of his own to bring to the party.
Actually I'm pretty sure Christian was on Raw in 04, that was when he had Tyson Tomko as his heater, and he was like the second best heel on the show behind Triple H, which was quite the accomplishment at the time The rumble was obviously going to be part of Triple H's storyline, because this was reign of terror era, so Batista was gonna win, but the unintentional ending with Cena and Batista landing at the same time was what both of them needed to be elevated to the level they are at today I might have had Christian win MotB in 2006, since RVD didn't really need the briefcase and could have just challenged Cena at One Night Stand without it. I think that really would have elevated him the same way it elevated Edge before that. Except Christian is definitely a better promo than Edge, especially back then. People think Christian is fire now? He was fire while he was Captain Charisma too. I remember him cutting this great babyface promo in Canada where he took an already hot crowd and made them go wild.
Christian Cage always had it all. One of the best and most complete wrestling talents of all time. Vince McMahon for some crazy reason always tried to hold him back while pushing way lesser men. Christian deserves way more credit than he gets.
Christian didn't have the look of a top star, very generic looking guy, not good enough at the time to be a top star when people who actually looked & seemed like larger than life characters were rising at the time.
Was Christian held back in WWE? Let us know in the comments.

I can still remember back to the day after the Summerslam TLC, none of my mates had watched it and I was absolutely dying to talk about it.
The only thing about E&C, the Hardys, & the Dudleys is that I wish they had more *wrestling* matches.
True but it made their matches more special as a result

WWE never saw Christian as a singles star.
How was he a former Intercontinental and Heavyweight Champion in WWE then? 🤦🏻♂️

I'd love to have all 6 of those guys sit down and just talk about how much work goes into planning a tlc match with 3 tag teams
The mesh shirt was more over than Captain Charisma back then, but he sure found that rizz now!
Remember The Brood Gangrel, Edge + Christian
My all time favorite group
All these tag teams on the main event but, I thought Vince doesn't like tag teams

Kinda backfired if that was the case cause Orton/Christian had arguably the best feud of the year if Cena/Punk wasn't your thing.
