You got it flipped. Coil shock is for that linear comfort ride, and air shock is for the progressive "pop" road feel. In v14's case, using a progressive spring on a coil shock does help accommodate a wider range of rider weight, but it's not that big of a pro/con, more like a nice gesture to the buyers. Either way, to maximize the off-road/on-road performance without changing the setup or sacrifice each side of the ride, it is best to use an aftermarket shock from a reputable brand like FOX with HS/LS settings separated.
Yep i got it flipped, but realistically my experience my was correct with me and my friends. The progressive shocks lbs might be a bit too high for riders, I didnt manage to get that POP feel from the progressive or comfort feel that i did when switching it to air. I got more support with the stock progressive shock though.
@@official.electricdreams it's a coil shock, even with a progressive spring, it won't provide that pop feel as the progressiveness is still way less than compressing air in an air shock. The whole idea of a coil shock with its linear behavior is to "stay planted" and "stable during intense off-road riding, and have a bit more "smooth" feel.
Whatever you say about the wheel, it's hard to argue that Inmotion isn't pushing the industry forward. Can't wait to see this technology implemented on a larger cruising class wheel.
@@official.electricdreams can one charger with a capacity of 134v 16 A be used to charge the inmotion v14 or must there be two chargers with a capacity of 134v 8A? I ordered a v14 50s for my first bike and would like to start loading it as quickly and safely as possible. can you recommend how to charge it quickly without damaging the batteries? and can you recommend a good, quiet, small and cheap charger?
A tiny part of the progressive spring will probably so hard that it's solid and won't move. So one could say it doesn't bottom out. But it won't make a difference. You have only so much travel. The travel is what matters. It's just marketing bs. Just like the torque that is supposedly twice that of a small car.
I love the battery change test, but can we get a tire change speed test? Inmotion has said the quick release battery system will also improve speed of tire changes, but didn't say how much like with the V13. This is one of the most important features to me.
Having had personal close up experience with a fire in my apartment and the death of my cats and almost me, Im looking forward to this wheel. This feature could save my damaged mental state, REALLY....remember the eagle fire in New York, I woke up to that in my apartment....and the eagle was my first choice before that happened ❤
suspension corrections as a mountain bike rider: Inmotion is not the first to use a progressive shock; all air shocks used in the industry are progressive (and to a much lesser extent all coil shocks, but we don't classify them as such) air shocks aren't considered to give a better ride feel (they're considerd to have a worse 'off the top' feel as more seals need to be overcome, and their benefit is the tunability and progressivity of air) People herald coil shocks as giving a more plush ride feel (it will actually 'wash out' the ride more at lower shaft speeds than an air shock), at the cost of having to buy different springs for different riders, and lack of progressivity (though some companies like MRP sell progressive coils)
Re: Coil VS Air, Air is not automatically more cushy and soft than Coil, it comes down to tuning which is the main difference, tuning an air shock is as easy as using a pump while tuning a coil shock requires you to find the correct rating on the coil, both can feel plush and soft and both will not feel good with the wrong tuning. It's great that they went with a progressive one.
@@MrRich777 yes but it’s ugly, fragile, only 100v, only a 30mm wide motor, 0 torque, really small battery, no swappable battery, bad bms, no self balancing battery, WAY less power, WAY less overhead, and a 16 inch wheel when i want the 17-18 inch wheel of the v14
Thanks for the initial impressions. I am interested in many things already asked here in the comments. But I am also interested in the range of the wheel as this is something I need. Although I do not need 200km like the sherman max or something 😅
So in terms of Suspension. which one feels more safe road and offroad. Patton or Adventure ? It sounds like Patton would be more safe from what u say about feeling the road. Ppl say Patton is like riding a cloud, what do you think ?
Does the Adventure lack the safety features compared to the V13 since it has no hall sensor redundancy, no potted batteries, and the batteries are placed very differently.
How can you say it's known in mountain biking that a coil is less comfortable than an airshock? That is exactly the opposite of what you'll find if you look up air shock vs coil shock in MBing.
ummm coil shocks have more small bump sensitivity than air shocks. The initial force required to compress the piston exceeds that of compressing a spring
I went from a T3 to a Master. I love the smoothness of the 20" wheel, but I miss the agility of the 16, This almost looks like it would be the best of both.
Seeing as I ride hard technical trails all the time I need to know that the wheel can take a crash! A wheel can be the best, waterproof, fast and powerful and amazing suspension but if it falls into pieces after a crash, then it’s useless. I am most curious about how durable it is?
It doesn't look much different in terms of capacity and max current (both are 5000mAh, but 50GB is 10A whereas 50E is 9.8A). I wonder why not use the Samsung 50S, which still has 5000mAh, but 25A max current?
@@mikeintampa250 Same 5000mAh, so range should be the same. Seems like you'd also get less sag on the 50S, really the only downside I've been able to find is the cost, but there may be other considerations, like temperature tolerance and number of charge cycles before they degrade.
I wonder if they will bring out a cruising and long range version of V14, One that comes with all its features, bigger street tire and a comfy seat. If they do, it will probably be very expensive. Also, on my wish list, on all EUCs long range variant, maybe implement some sort of cruise control, similar to what cars have. Set it, and it will maintain that speed without having you lean forward, so you can sit and not get fatigue, but disengage quickly when pulled back. I don't know how this is practical/impractical on an EUC. Just my two cents.
Would the wheel keep one speed, you would just fall off it. You need to lean, because that's how you get your center of gravity Infront of the wheel for it to push you through the wind. If want to lean less, stand more forward on your pedals or sit more centered on your seat. Which will reduce breaking leverage a little bit
Main concerns about this wheel are is that it is already an expensive wheel. So when it does end up getting mangled, how expensive will be parts afterwards? Also, how tough does the front of the frame seem to be? Where it cones out in front of the headlight. I can easily get past the plastic, but if it costs a lot to replace it, that will suck. Another thing is, tire swap. How difficult will that be? These are the only things i can rhink of for the time being. Thank you for the entertaining video.
Great first look! Can you help to do some measurements to see what is the widest and tallest tyre size the V14 can do? Like what is the distance between the left and right battery packs; really want to know whether it can install wider tyres like the new version Mten4 uses 100mm width tyre. I guess the original nobby tyre is about 80mm; I know the 80/90-12 tyre will fit, not sure if 90/90-12 can also fit? Or even 100/70-12 ? I like the v14 but not a off road fan, want to change a wider street tyre. Thanks🎉
Great video Jack! The S22 Pro suspension is the best I've tried for overall comfort. So I'm not quite sure what your referring to regarding "comfort" or an air shock. How did the suspension on the V14 feel to you compared to the S22 Pro?

Hey is the v14 more nimble then the s22 because its smaller and more narrow and if so by how much around a s18 feel? or is it less nimble because of the higher weight? Looking forward to more reviews thanks
Both are just as torquey as the other. The adventure requires less weight to get it going but the pedals are a bit software( even on hard mode) compared to the extreme
At present between this wheel and the veteran Sherman-S, which one is coming on top and why? I will be doing a lot of on and off road riding, I will be riding the wheel aggressively most of the time so shocks are important to me, durability, waterproofing, cornering, range, and I prefer low wobble as I will often ride pretty fast.
Your needs are split down the middle. This smaller wheel (or the Patton) fulfills most of them , but a larger wheel fulfills the others that a small wheel can't (range, high speed, stability).
Here’s the thing, you mentioned points that won’t be at the adventures advantage, it can’t beat the Sherman s on range or speed but if ur saying u do aggressive offroad( I’m not sure how maintained your trails are) then I would suggest v14 it’s easier to maneuver
