Dauphin Island Bird Banding

Back in April, while on assignment for Southern Environmental in Alabama, I got word of a bird banding on Dauphin Island. I was introduced to the Banding Coalition of the Americas and the Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries group. They were kind enough to let me tag along and document their banding event. We had a great time and learned a lot of great information about birds & banding!

Great documentary! As a licensed bird bander myself, I really really appreciate when people take the time to understand what we are doing, and how important the work can be! It's great to see the outreach elsewhere, and I'm glad you got to experience an exciting day!

There is a hummingbird banding event open to visitors the first two Saturdays in August at Riverbend Park in Catawba County. I went this year and it was great! Do you know of any other events like that in North Carolina?
