That is one hell of a fish-eye lens used on the cover. My guess is it’s 4 to 6 mm focal length ultra wide angle (not cheap) lens. I want a lens like that. But it’s the music inside that really stands out. Quite an album for its time. The boundaries of folk music were expanded. One cannnot merely dismiss this as a Dylan cover album. The Byrds reinterpreted Dylan (and folk in general) and put their own indelible stamp upon it. As did Jimi Hendrix, who transformed traditional blues into acid rock.

The first two albums in my collection were ones I bought for myself at the end of 1967 when i got my Kansas driver's permit and drove by myself for the first time to the department store to buy Fresh Cream (because my Sister working in Boston answered my question as to which was the hottest band) and the Byrds' Greatest Hits (because my first favorite bands when I became aware of music on the radio being something I could identify with, were the Byrds, the Yardbirds, and the Rolling Stones. Sadly, The Byrds didn't retain my attention because they went more country instead of psychedelic. There are some highlights but the Byrds were largely a disappointment because of all the Chaos in the lineup, creative differences, bad record production, etc. I didn't know all those things at the time, but it's clear now, thanks to wiki. They just didn't vibe. McGuinn always was the creative force of the band, and it's too bad so many others tried to make it theirs and they really screwed it up.

George Harrison was using a 12-string Rickenbacker in the Beatles film A Hard Days Night in 1964. When Roger McGuinn saw the movie and heard that sound McGuinn immediately bought himself a 12-string Rickenbacker. That's where McGuinn's influence on the 12-string came from. If I Needed Someone Came a year later in 1965.

    Lyrics:
I ain’t lookin’ to compete with you
Beat or cheat or mistreat you
    Simplify you, classify you
    Deny, defy or crucify you
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you
No, I ain’t lookin’ to fight with you
    Frighten you or tighten you
Drag you down or drain you down
Chain you down or bring you down
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you
I don’t want to fake you out
Take or shake or forsake you out
I ain’t lookin’ for you to feel like me
See like me or be like me
I don’t want to meet your kin
Make you spin or do you in
Or select you or dissect you
Or inspect you or reject you
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you
    Baby, be friends with you
    Baby, be friends with you

Nobody did Dylan tunes as well as The Byrds

The Byrds are the only band I'm aware of that consistently performed song after Dylan song better always better than Dylan. Speaking as a big Dylan fan.

Another Wrecking Crew production as opposed to the Beatles who played there own instruments ... although Roger Mcguinn did play the 12 string Rickenbacker on these tracks ..Hal Blaine played drums on this album .. he also did the Monkees ,Beach Boys .Mamas and Papas,Sony and Cher, and a ton more hit records

The Wrecking Crew only took over for the single not the whole album.

Bullshit! Byrds got a deal to make a single and when it became a hit they were asked to do album! In Which they played the instruments! Arranging for Mr T Man by McGuinn! The sound all about the 12 string ( mc Guinn) and harmonies!

Nope. Wrecking Crew played on Mr Tambourine Man only. After that one song the Byrds played their own instruments.
