That is one hell of a fish-eye lens used on the cover. My guess is it’s 4 to 6 mm focal length ultra wide angle (not cheap) lens. I want a lens like that. But it’s the music inside that really stands out. Quite an album for its time. The boundaries of folk music were expanded. One cannnot merely dismiss this as a Dylan cover album. The Byrds reinterpreted Dylan (and folk in general) and put their own indelible stamp upon it. As did Jimi Hendrix, who transformed traditional blues into acid rock.

The first two albums in my collection were ones I bought for myself at the end of 1967 when i got my Kansas driver's permit and drove by myself for the first time to the department store to buy Fresh Cream (because my Sister working in Boston answered my question as to which was the hottest band) and the Byrds' Greatest Hits (because my first favorite bands when I became aware of music on the radio being something I could identify with, were the Byrds, the Yardbirds, and the Rolling Stones. Sadly, The Byrds didn't retain my attention because they went more country instead of psychedelic. There are some highlights but the Byrds were largely a disappointment because of all the Chaos in the lineup, creative differences, bad record production, etc. I didn't know all those things at the time, but it's clear now, thanks to wiki. They just didn't vibe. McGuinn always was the creative force of the band, and it's too bad so many others tried to make it theirs and they really screwed it up.
George Harrison was using a 12-string Rickenbacker in the Beatles film A Hard Days Night in 1964. When Roger McGuinn saw the movie and heard that sound McGuinn immediately bought himself a 12-string Rickenbacker. That's where McGuinn's influence on the 12-string came from. I am the biggest Beatle in the world, BUT I think you might have something there. This band was one of my heroes when I started playing in 1967 as a drummer. Pure perfection. Every time I hear their songs, I get the same Beatle feeling I'm listening to something really special.
