Instead of thinking of it as prayer I think of it more as a conversation with God. Especially when I take my walk everyday, I use that time to talk with Him.
I wanted to thank you for making your sermons available to the public! A couple years ago I found my way back to Christ, one thing I previously lacked was devoting time to the word. I was on a path towards destruction because of my lack of knowledge, making myself vulnerable to false/worldly teachings. Please pray for me as I look for a new church.
What a lovely testimony. Pastor Paul is the best teacher of the word that I have found. I'm in Florida I wish his church was here, I can't find a church home where I am now. I'll pray for you Heather.
I wish to say that your study on Nehemiah was masvellous. It gave me so much to think about. I really had to re-evaluate my understanding about being a christian. I am so grateful for your insight and understanding.God protect you and your family and keep you all well in these dangerous times
I had ask God something regarding my sister and it was a thought. I was just doing something at the time. I didn't speak with God with my mouth. When God answered he reminded me what i said and that he hears our very thoughts and answers even though we think It's just a thought. That was so powerful to know.
Nehemiah is hitting me right here (pats heart) this time around. What an amazing time for Israel. What an example of persistent obedience and reverence.
These messages are a blessing. I cannot accept the end point of tithing however. Yes we must tithe. The 10 percent right off the top is an excersize in trusting Him and acknowledging all things we have are from Him. Ecclesiastes always re-enforces this act of obedience when you see material things as dust in the wind. Bless you through Jesus, Amen.
Amazing gift of teaching God has bestowed upon you. Just flows so freely from you with the Light. Have to admit I was a do’er, at a million miles per hour. Then, God gave me rest. That’s when everything changed, and how amazing! Be kept.
I too was just praising God for leading you to go through the entire bible. I read and then listen to your breakdowns and grow with some guidance. Thankful for you humble honesty and I will continue to study the bible with you. I recently bought my daughter a bible and she has really taken to reading it. I led her to your channel in hopes for the same for her. Thank you Calvary.
Thank you Pastor your teachings are a great blessing to me. I am able to grasp and understand so many readings as per your explanations and things have become so clear and just makes one hunger for more of God and to stay fast in my walk with the Lord . I am really enjoying the book of Nehemiah.
THANK YOU that you confess to finding prayer difficult, Pastor. I DO AS WELL. I drive myself nuts, and berate myself over it constantly: "some Christian _you_ are!" :-( But even Anne Graham Lotz confessed that she struggles with this too, so y'know..good company. My prayers seem so wimpy, childish & insignificant that I _hate_ to pray out loud around others! (that, and I typically boo-hoo a lot during prayer, which makes things REAL awkward) I know it's something I need to do in obedience, and I "press on" so that I can work thru the awkwardness while confessing to the Lord. :-) Thanks for your continuing lessons.
I am a Pastors wife and lately I have had a really hard time praying. I use to spend my whole day wanting to be in the presence of the Lord. Now, my time is so imbalanced work, school, family, full ministry! Please pray that the Lord would stir up my prayer warrior heart again!
Friend you took the words out of my mouth I didn't know others felt like I do . I don't know how to speak the way I feel but I keep on trying I believe God wants to hear the truth from us even if it should like a child speaking .
The part of not neglecting the house of the Lord, which I am now,a great eye opener and reminder to live for God.. and also that prayer Nehemiah 9, reminded me to always remember of the lord's faithfulness and confess it daily.. thank you pastor Paul..
I've gone through most of the Old Testament with your teachings on each chapter I gotta say this is one of my favorites. I am moved and convicted about my weak prayers and weak confessions and weak attempts in general. I know i was a lot worse before, but that is behind me and what lies ahead is a greater relationship still. This is a really good one, I had to share it and listen to it multiple times.
Prayer is hard. I want so much to do it right. I see Prayer as showing reverence and respect. i.e. praising and thanking him, confessing my many sins. I always seem to have a wandering mind. Satan ALWAYS trys to stop my prayers by distracting me. It's terribly frustrating. Thank you for your honesty in saying you have trouble too. It's nice to know I'm not alone. God bless you and Sue. Thank you both.
Pray is very, very important. 38 years of my life I was without pray satan spoilt my life my Lord Jesus Christ rescued me saved my family. I want to be with Jesus Christ all the time
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (October 29), Nehemiah 9:32-38; 10:28-29 was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "God's Covenant with the Returned Exiles." The hymn, "The Church of Christ, in Every Age," written by Fred Pratt Green (1903-2000), is a good hymn to compliment these Scriptures, regardless of denomination.
I never ever want to be away from Jesus Christ.i have been there seen that oh no I never want to go to that phase of my life. I want to pray even if it is 2 mins or 5mins. I want to think of Lord all the time.
If you struggle with consistent prayer, might I suggest the ACTS method: A - Adoration (Appreciation) C - Confession T - Thanksgiving S - Supplication (Needs (and wants)) This method has me praying for 45+ minutes BUT obviously, content and heart posture are more important than duraiton
Yes, the bible has many examples of the change that occurs to us after we accept Christ as our Savior. Sometimes it's a large change quickly and sometimes you just start making different choices and one day when you're in a situation similar to before your salvation you find yourself very uncomfortable and get out as soon as possible, you realize you're change. Here are some verses; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! " Colossians 3:9-11 "Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all."
Instead of thinking of it as prayer I think of it more as a conversation with God. Especially when I take my walk everyday, I use that time to talk with Him.
I do this during my walk from work every evening. It works so well for me. I am so used to the routine now
AWESOME ❤
Thank you Pastor Paul, for this faith- building study of Nehemiah. There is just something about the way that you expound it. God bless you

Why leaders don't fast as a whole?
