I'm getting my first subaru ever, ive done so much reading up etc that my head hurts lol. After watching this video, I'll be the owner of a 2021 wrx limited with 15k miles next week, the plus side is that it has a performance package, and comes with a color matched spoiler. Black on black on black. GREAT review my man!!
I have an 18 wrx. LOVE it. First thing I personally recommend doing is getting a tune for it. Car is way smoother, more power (although not a ton more since I don’t have any bolt ons), and my fuel economy is significantly better. I literally get 38 mpg on the highway and about 32 in the city, when driving it normally. Stock tune, driven the same way, that was about 30 on the highway and 25 in the city. The car loves ethanol and bolt ons! Don’t expect to make too much power with it even with FBO E85, compared to some pretty quick cars out there. I personally would wait until the new WRX comes out with the FA24, that has way better reinforced everything in the engine bay and can handle about 500WHP.
Thanks for sharing! I'm sure a tune would wake it up a good bit just with throttle response! That's pretty good mpg for a daily/fun car to drive! I can't wait to check out some of the new models Subaru has on the way!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Does the tuning mess up anything in the long run for daily driving? Planning to get at 2021 WRX. I read it has rev hang, I just want to get rid of the rev hang. Extra mpg wouldn't hurt either.

You make a good point! You could say the Lancer is around the same, but probably not even close in performance unless you get the EVO but the Subaru is a lot nicer I think!
Just got a Lapis Blue 2021 WRX Limited, absolutely love everything about it. Wasn't even on the lot for 24 hours before I got it lol. Extreme upgrade from my 2014 Impreza Base trim 5-speed.

Finally a 2021 WRX Limited review. I've been looking for one for the past few weeks. I am really considering getting this in the next week. I am just looking for one in their Lapis Blue color and I cant seem to find one. Would you say a '21 STI base model is the better choice for a couple thousand more?
I should really do a comparison between a base STI and this! There are pros and cons, pro would be you get that extra power which I could definitely tell a difference. Con is the base model won't have as much so it's kind of a trade off, unless you get a higher trim STI, which of course is even more. If you can do without the heated seats, sunroof and some of the tech, and really want the STI go for it! Check some out to see what you like the best!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed that would be super helpful! 🙏🏽 I’m not a big car guy...yet. But how easily modifiable is a WRX to get equal performance of a stock STI?
Was thinking of maybe getting this as my first car at 16 (It wouldn't be in my name though) and I'm not really sure on insurance. I would think it wouldn't be high because it's a sedan but people say it's high because there's a sporty aspect to it. Any tips?
It depends on a lot of factors like location, driving record and tickets. If the car is under your parents name and you are listed as a driver, it shouldn't be too bad, but with new drivers it's usually a little more just because you don't have much experience yet. The sporty aspect to the car doesn't determine the rate of insurance either. You can always get a quote from the company your parents use to see before buying!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Alright guess I just don't know if I should go for leasing it or financing cause a friend of mine leases one and he pays like around 500 a month so idk which to go with (If I even can get a WRX)
You will always lose money with a lease. All those payments are just money down the drain. After the term is up and you give the car back, you get nothing in return. When you finance the car. The payment is probably going to be similar. But when you sell the car or trade it in for the next one. You get all the equity. So unless you are a business owner and can write off 100% of the lease payment. You're just wasting money doing that. If you lease it for $500 a month for 35 months. Thats $18k you'll spend. This car will not depreciate $18k in 3 years of ownership. So you'll spend less money just financing it
Been debating about trading my 2016 tacoma limited 4x4 for a wrx. Really contemplating it now. Which would you rather for practicality? Wrx or your tacoma?

They do offer the WRX with a CVT transmission, but to be honest, I have never seen on on the lot. Pretty much every WRX I see on the road is a manual, but it is available.

Question I’m thinking about getting this beauty for my first car at 17, do you think it’s a good idea to get on a 35k plus debt at this age? I have a stable job that is not bad and I can easily pay monthly because I’m responsible but I don’t know if I should get this or a used cheap car that will probably leave me stranded on the side of the road. really tough decision to make
Good question. In todays market most used cars go for what new ones go for. SO honestly brand new a great choice since it will be covered under warranty. If this price range is comfortably in your budget and you can still put money into the bank, then sounds good! Also keep in mind where you want to be in 5 years. The decisions you make now will effect what you can do in 5 years from now. But $35k isnt crazy out there so as long as you are doing well ;)
Personally. No. lol. The manual is such a fun transmission for the car. CVT kills the fun. If you want an automatic, get a car thats more refined and comfortable. Like a KIA Stinger, Audi A3 or something like that
Well we have driven a few STI's and WRX's before on fun roads. They feel similar to be honest. A bit of torque steer in the STi since it has more power. But I didn't notice a difference in steering feel
It's idling around 1100 rpm which is normal. Most cars will be between 800-1300 depending on the car and engine. If it was above 2k I'd be concerned, but this is normal.

I didn't think about the horsepower difference with the Civic Type R! But maybe that's kind of in-between the WRX and STI? Still AWD though so with tuning could be faster!
Depends if you want that extra power and the STI name, but you could always tune this and still get some good numbers and save some money since it's cheaper!
Just curious, doubt you'll see this, noticed that this car only has 11 miles on it. Meaning it's impossible for the engine to have been broken in. So by getting it under boost. Isn't it possible your degrading the life of the engine for whoever ends up buying this car?
Yes this was a brand new Subaru, but I wasn't really into any of the boost at all. I did some accelerations, but not even half throttle, so getting on full boost wouldn't be good to do until it's broken in. I don't get to show the full potential of the car of course since it's not mine, but at least enough to get the point across. @jay rios The WRX and Crosstrek as far as performance can't be more different. I agree, it's a great car and probably handle like a dream, but maybe I expect too much as far as interior.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It doesn't, not if you are a huge WRX (2016) fanboy. Its grill is different, looks cheaper and less muscular. It drives better but once the refresh happens, I decided not to get my dream WRX after-all. Once I had money, my dream WRX new was gone.
@@Pablo-tt5zy just depends on how you are driving, you can go from 1st to 6th if you went fast enough in first. You can go from 6th to 2nd if you rev match properly, it’s designed to do that if you do it right.

But I have a manual and skip gears, just depends on how you are driving and what you want to do.
The 2022 WRX model should be much different, at least from what I have heard. Along with that is a change for the BRZ, so hopefully we see some cool changes!

This model was the highest trim under the STI! Seats were definitely nice for sure! And the Crosstrek is cool, haven't been in one of those, but that'd be nice to have the 4runner and that!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Maybe a Crosstrek review. They have the 2.0 and the 2.5. Very popular model. Someone at work here just got one and they move it. Many safety features.
Oh cool we'll have to put that on the list
@jay rios The WRX and Crosstrek as far as performance can't be more different.
I agree, it's a great car and probably handle like a dream, but maybe I expect too much as far as interior.
@jay rios Thanks Jay 👍
I want that car
Keep working towards it! The Subaru WRX is a fun sedan!
Beautiful Sports Car.
It sure is! I think you have to get the blue for the WRX, just iconic in that color, especially with the bronze/gold wheels!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It's ugly compared to the 2016. Subaru w their stupid mid-year refresh ugh!
@@chrisx5127 it looks pretty much the same as the 2016. The new WRX looks weird to me
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It doesn't, not if you are a huge WRX (2016) fanboy. Its grill is different, looks cheaper and less muscular. It drives better but once the refresh happens, I decided not to get my dream WRX after-all. Once I had money, my dream WRX new was gone.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Oh yeah, the new WRX makes me want to vomit! Subaru, WHY? Subaru ruined the WRX and BRZ rear iconic light.
Beautiful car, question… why does he shift from 4th gear to 6th gear? Isn’t that bad for the car? Why not shift to 5th then 6th? Can someone explain?
That's the beauty of a manual, you don't have to go in consecutive order. It 's not bad for the car at all.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed really?? I thought you had to go in order. Can you explain more please?
@@Pablo-tt5zy just depends on how you are driving, you can go from 1st to 6th if you went fast enough in first. You can go from 6th to 2nd if you rev match properly, it’s designed to do that if you do it right.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed interesting.. do you have a video by chance to show what you just explained?
@@Pablo-tt5zy I may have mentioned it in this video! ua-cam.com/video/yB0o4Cmf_u0/v-deo.html..it’s nothing new, I’m not the only one who has done that.
Can you do a wrx premium
I was going to the same day I did this model, but it sold the night before! If they get in anymore I can see!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed ok thank you
No problem!
@10:44 why did you skip the 5th gear?
That's the beauty of a manual, you don't have to go through every single gear getting up to speed. That can save on the clutch from not shifting an extra time just cruising and being in 6th helps with the camera audio. But I have a manual and skip gears, just depends on how you are driving and what you want to do.
150 mph top speed?
It's right around 145-150 from what I found, but could vary depending on what you read.
Would you recommend a CVT
Daily use yes but if u want this car for tuning purposes no
Not for a vehicle like this! Most non performance cars come with one and it's ok for those types of cars, but if you want performance I wouldn't!
That's a good answer! It's great for non performance type vehicles.
No
@Suggon Deez thanks and I also heard automatic Subaru wrx is faster then the Manuel
Love this car
It's a pretty cool sedan for the family!
please do a subaru levorg 2014 review
That Subaru model is not available for the US market so I won't be able to!
Yeah! Kudos to Subaru, they saved the manuals.
#savethemanuals
I have yet to see an automatic WRX at my dealer! It's awesome to see the manual continue on for the WRX!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed my dealership promotes the CVT tranmission these days -_- mani for the win!
Comparing to my 2015, nothing has really changed...
The 2022 WRX model should be much different, at least from what I have heard. Along with that is a change for the BRZ, so hopefully we see some cool changes!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Let's hope so!!
Ive heard some rumors! So it should be coming
Probably a modified 2.4L from the other models
Manual cars are always a turn on for me 😂
Manuals are so much fun to drive! The WRX is a great car with one!
No sunroof?
It's available. This one just didn't have one
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I thought you showed it at 8:35?
How do you lock it? Do you press lock button once or twice?
On most cars you can push lock once to lock to driver door and twice to do all doors. I can't remember on this specific car, but there should be settings to adjust that.
These things need more power
I would agree! That's why there's the STI too, but for stock they decently quick! But there are so many mods for the Subarus!
36g!!!! I bout my 2021 sti for 37,780
Oh wow! Was it a base model STI or a loaded up one?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed base, it wasn’t worth for me to pay 5G more for sunroof and recato seats.
Good point. Great car for sure!
I’m considering buying a 2021 Subaru WRX Limited….🤷🏽♂️….I’m still unsure…. Maybe I’ll just say “fk it” and do it, since I can afford it. I live in the PNW, and the AWD would be lovely, as well it looking sporty and sexy 😛
With the right set of tires too you should be able to take it a good amount of places! Good luck with that decision, it's a fun car to drive!
DO IT. I PULLED THE TRIGGER ON ONE YESTERDAY. 2021 Limited in Pure Red. Manual. I FRICKIN LOVE IT. Since the 2022 gens look UGLY AF, I knew to buy this instead.
@@cav1991 let’s go!!!
@@bb3283 HELL YEAH 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Its so fucking expensive here in Australia
How much are Subaru WRX's going for there?
I thought subies were hugely popular in Australia. Isn't it also a JDM mecca or has YT misled me?
Premium WRX starts at $56000
It's cool, but outdated. The new ones will be of interest.
I can't wait to see the new models for this and the BRZ! Excited to see what Subaru has planned for them!
Upspeak.
What does that mean?
Sounds shit, where’s the boxer rumble? And it needs a proper WRC spoiler on the trunk.
Stock exhaust really kills it lol
I paid less for my 2016 new. Same car. I'd never buy this. Get a 2015-2018 for serious savings.
Keep in mind almost 5 years later, all models with all manufactures have gone up in price. Just depends on your budget and what you'd like to get! But I do agree, getting a used one with low mileage would save you a good bit!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed appreciate the response. If you want a new car I definitely agree, it can be worth it. I just think that the lackluster warranty (@36k) and price gap is hard to justify. I had to buy a new car with a warranty due to my situation. Otherwise I would’ve bought an Evo 8 or 2010 sti.
I’m all AMG/Porsche nowadays though. I’d rather have comfort + speed.
wow the same shit they’ve been selling for 30 years lol.
Other automakers like Toyota and Lexus have models awhile before an upgrade comes out. I think the 2022 model will be completely redesigned so it should be interesting to see what Subaru comes out with!
His speech tone and emphasis pisses me off tbh, dude sounds like chillz
Thanks for checking out the Subaru review!
Tacoma blue ish
Haha yeah, it's a similar blue to my Tacoma! Always looks good on the Subaru's!
Burger King foot lettuce.....
lol what does that mean?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed as soon as I heard your voice, I thought you sounded exactly like the guy in the meme lol 👌
Oh. Never heard of that one lol
Looks like a pimped car from the 80s ,who need this boring car ?
Is that good or bad? lol
The WRX is a fun car!
Love the car videos, but that fake UA-cam voice is annoying AF
I've been working on talking more normal. Glad you enjoy the videos though.
