Don't know about today's Army, but back-in-day it didn't matter what shape you were in. The Drill Sargeants would purposely break you down mentally and physically in order to bring you along as a team. Resistance was futile. If you rebelled you were going to have a rough time, or get recycled.
It's still this way team building and morale are really big in bct or atleast they were for me last year. I went in as a big guy and most of my platoon were little guys so we'd all suffer together and in the end the big guys came out smaller and the small guys came out bigger 😂 it was fun though
Did many Army military schools. Each is challenging so do your research. Never give up persevere and be ready to be humbled. Be in shape physically and mentally. You will live in an open bay for training practice good leadership skills have a good attitude. Be confident and be ready to work long hours.
Appreciate you bro 🙏 going in to basic July 1st. Kinda in the same boat as you with the more powerlifting style. Completely switched up my training for these last 2 months to a lot of body weight and running. just one heavy day a week instead of all 4-5
its for sure a dramatic change in workout programing but remember this is temporary! once you finish up in basic and ait and get out of that tradoc environment you can slowly get back into that powerlifting style workout routine at your unit.
I go to basic on September 3rd as a 74D CBRN Specialist, the main thing im worried abt is the 2mr, i started runnin like a month ago but i got runners knee and just recently it went away n im back, my best run time was 3 days ago which was 9:49 in 1 mile, i feel like i put too much in the 1 mile time but stop running competitively for the 2nd mile, ima start doin both to get used to it but its hard to run long distances with no brakes, not because of my legs but because of my heart rate and beathing, but im workin on it (im not fat im basically what u described, a skinny couch potato lol)
Hey brother sorry for the late reply but I love you're trying to stay active and yeah that injury is a big setback but you sound like you're on the right path! Just try to worry about pacing and not burning through the 1st mile then struggling the 2nd. Find the right time for you and push for the best but for getting in and at the moment now as long as you fit the deadline for your age & weight you'll pass. Best of luck!!
Remember start at your own pace but push past that comfort zone!! Do a verity of cardio workouts but mainly focus on long distance running do a mile 4 times a week as a good start
Work on doing proper form push-ups more than anything also to help you for when it's time to do the acft look into hand release push-ups and train on holding the pushup position for a while also coming down and up slow
@JacobHester-k9e yep in my platoon alone during basic we had about 4-5 guys over the age of 25 one of them being 38 barely making the age limit to get in but those were the best guys to talk to during any downtime loved the stories and going in older you'll learn to become a leader really quick n have alot of your battle buddies looking up to you for advice on pretty much anything
@ValasHee keep eating but try to eat clean!! Lean meats, alot of carbs and alot of water keep your body hydrated and slowly build into the habit of working out. And like I said after basic you'll be in the best shape you've ever been in 💪🏻
@girlee0303 there are many things that can get them "recycled" where they stay and continue training till they can complete the tasks then be put with a different class to still have a chance to graduate. It's unlikely you'll get sent home unless it's something medical they didn't catch at meps or you get in trouble really early on
@@KingCurt209 no I got a waiver at meps the same day I was just hoping it wouldn’t be an issue when I get to 30th AG. I was stressed with the one on one doctors meeting lol. Not trying to go through that again. Probably something when I was younger that I couldn’t remember maybe, but it didn’t show on genesis at meps.
@@KingCurt209 oh, thats pretty nice, thought its gonna be less. Having my MEPS next week ) btw , i am native russian language speaker , do u know somebody who became linguist?

wow you're so macho here is you're cookie old man
It’s all intentional to weed out the people who didn’t come ready so it definitely does matter what shape you’re in before starting basic.

LOL, they will get you in shape in basic thats what its for, they did me
Better to get ready beforehand though! But you're right even if you go in shape you get in better shape lol
I got basic next summer and my stamina sucks. I really hope I can pass the test. wish me luck 🙏

How many push ups should I be doing a day to get prepared. I work out 4 days out the week. I run up some huge hills and jog too.

Did you see older guys in basic im 35 going in for 12b next month

Is running or rucking the best way to increase endurance? I get tired easily and i want to work on that
Do both if you can! I regret not rucking before basic but it's good conditioning for your feet
I need help because im going in soon god willingly. Nd im a skinny couch potato 😂😂 i dont want to lose weight so right now im eating as much as i can

The recruiter I've known for 2 years recruiter is taking me to meps a week after my 17th bday which is in sept what should I focus on now?
Practice asvab and start working out if you haven already!
@KingCurt24 alright man i appreciate you and thank you for your service 🙏
Am already in that shape and my physique is so much stronger but i don’t have a chance to join the force 😢😢😢😢
waivers
My son is going to BCT 8/18. What if they can’t run the 2 miles in the beginning? What will get them sent home?

What do you mean about catching something medical? If you don’t mind me asking. They have genesis at MEPS.
@@mellymellz11something that hasn't been recorded, a problem you didn't see a doctor for

what if you start the bulk before basic then cut during basic
Could do that but I wouldn't recommend it that's a drastic sudden change
