1989 I had lost everything and was starting over in some of the darkest days of my life. This song helped my lay the past to rest and continue on with the faint hope of a new tomorrow. Hearing this song makes me reflect on those days not with despair nor triumph, but a thankfulness in my self belief to keep going on. Such a pretty song during a cruel time for me. God bless.
I've been listening to metal since I was 7 years old I am 50 now. I never heard a voice like this from any metal band. His melody is is out of this world. I have to listen to it every night before I go to sleep. His voice is haunting. I hear it in my head while I'm at work. Great voice, great composition.
@M Cohen Ray was a great singer. As a person contaminating women with AIDS is not much of a person to look up to. Also its said that is reason there isnt reissues as families are charging record company (as there propably wasnt much to get from Ray's money he left behind). Sad story, but happy they made this record and Voodoo Highway. Dusk that can be found on Spotify is more of bunch of demos. Like you said he was a remarkable singer.
I heard Gillen sing in San Antonio, Tx 1986, on the Sabbath tour after Glenn H could not perform... Great vocalist... Don’t know NE thing else personally about him... Just remember the night in question... 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
@@atteljas appearently it's a lifetime ban on any reissues of the Badlands catalog as part of the settlement with the families of the women Ray infected. Sad shame!!!
Randy Wissler Thats exactly what Ive heard. It is such a shame for people not being really able to discover them. And its sort of like they did great job, produced great music... for what?
@@atteljas have you heard any of Ray's stuff that he did with the band Sun Red Sun? It was after Badlands broke up. It's a whole lot harder stuff than Badlands. He did 3 songs on that album. They are on UA-cam. One of the songs, Lock me up, has a real Anthrax vibe to it. Well worth checking out!!
Listening to this band was like hearing zepplin, purple, whitesanke, ozzy, and sabbath all rolled up in one if that's possible. Simply put, the best ever!!!!
This may be one of the truly UNDERRATED bands in my life time!!! So damn pure and still amazing after all the years since they wrote this. Just brilliant.
Song is so true. Me and my older bro used to jam to this song when we were kids. Rumbling Train is the first song that got me into Badlands. But this is by far my favorite .Now when i hear this song it goes straight to the heart. My brother has passed away , but this song brings the memory of him every time.
I saw Gillen when he toured with Sabbath in ‘86... Glenn Hughes had gotten hurt, and they had Ray take his place... San Antonio, Tx 1986... He was very talented!
My wife and I are going through the toughest divorce ever. This has been our sad soundtrack. We love each other and need to find our way back to each other. It has been 67 days apart.
Wow Ray Gillen have the amazing voice, he can sing any song, Today no body sing like him. We loss another legend of Rock Roll. We should always celebrate the legend.
You wanna talk about greatness that emerged from an overpopulated pile...had the pleasure of being in the presence of this band on the first album tour and the second album tour. Have a Jake pick from both. This should have been the next music that rode in . . .
My Voodoo Highway cassette was stuck in my car stereo for a year. I can't live without these guys every once in a while now. They were fuckin' hard man. You can feel their energy. Who wouldn't want to be in a band lick this. It's basic but powerful. Fuck!
This could easily be the follow up to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin Now being a few years shy of 50 I’m now realising this I’ve loved this album since it’s inception
You may live your life and never hear the perfect storm of genius music this album is. If you have never heard all this album you have not been given a true rock album till this.
so unfortunate ray is gone. even worse, jake is truly the top underrated guitarists of this era. and to think jake used to warm up on blues riffs back in the ozzy days and ozzy told him to stop playing blues cuz it wasn't in at the time. little does ozzy know it's not always about metal. this entire album kicks ass really not one bad song on it.
good luck keeping this great song up here and your acct. i really hope you do! some other person had seasons up and their acct was removed - it's that ugly bunch wmg! thanks for the upload nonetheless - you can bet that jake sure doesn't mind! and neither do us badlands supporters either :)
you guys and your "underrated this, underrated that"...just listen man, this music will never be made again and it is damn near PERFECT. LISTEN I grew up in the 70's and 80's and that was a time of MUSIC. Thank you to all the fuckin kick ass bands.
this song is beautiful in everyway...i'd kill to write something like this. gillan is/was one the greatest vocalists rock music ever gave us...and there have only been a handful. bono, plant(who has lost it), coverdale(who hasn't), sebastian bach, eric from mr. big, bowie...and a cpl others...most rock singers are just a voice...those beatles guys were good...thier harmonies were blissful...but as individual singers...meh, just voices, lol. :)
james allen you're on point in most of your comment except the Plant analogy but most think he has lost it. But I digress Ray was/Is in that league of Plant, Halford, etc.
I agree but you just can't include David Bowie in that league. If you think Bowie was just a voice you sure are the most mistaken guy in the whole universe or multiverse. I frigging wonder with all your understanding of the music scene, you can be such a bell end to drag Bowie through it all. Btw I love the song and will love it till my dying breath.
always think of the cartoon that had a guy they called "Badlands Meanie"... maybe where they got the band name... who knows...???? I know they rocked the fuckin house...!!!!!!!

Very intense bro. I feel the same
I recommend you a good album, friend.
Guardian fire and love

The late Ray Gillen is easily one of the BEST vocalists in rock history! He was amazing!!

My all time favorite vocalist. The late, GREAT Ray Gillen.

This music instantly transports me to my younger years when life wasn't so complicated. What an album. These guys were phenomenal.
I WISH RAY WAS STILL WITH US ALL HE WAS A GREAT MAN!!! THIS SONG ALLWAYS GIVES ME A CHILL DONE MY SPINE!!! BADLANDS FOREVER!!!
Had the privilege of seeing them once back in the day in a small club that held maybe a thousand people when this album first came out absolutely 🌹💕💙
Rays voice haunting and amazing til the end of time.
I miss great music like this-remember getting the cassette back in '89.
I saw Gillen when he toured with Sabbath in ‘86... Glenn Hughes had gotten hurt, and they had Ray take his place... San Antonio, Tx 1986... He was very talented!
How this band never hit big is astonishing to me. Ray was one of the greatest singers and with Jake on guitar. A truly amazing group.
Bandlands.....most underrated never mentioned..bands ever fucken awesome band to hit the airwaves..R.I.P. Ray
My wife and I are going through the toughest divorce ever. This has been our sad soundtrack. We love each other and need to find our way back to each other. It has been 67 days apart.
A truly epic and obscure band.makes me smile and takes me back to when the world made sense
Powerful, Emotional Song.................... Loved this One!

This should have been the next music that rode in . . .
My RESPECT for this band 🤘🤘 Great and pure rock 🎸🎸 A lost artist
a timeless masterpiece
One of my favourite tunes… sounds very zep inspired but still awesome.
What a voice…I’d give anything to have those kind of vocal chops !!!
Such a beautiful song just listen I have nothing else to say
Amazing band and song. This is in my opinion, their equivalent to Led Zeppelin's "Rain Song."
Reminds me of some of plants solo stuff but digging in deeper great album

Every time I've ever heard this song I thought of my father who died many years ago this is for you man
The one song the band does that I treasure the most.
Gotta think singers of his caliber are in very short supply. Amazing voice, amazing playing. As everyone else says, “underrated” band.
You can put Ray against any singer
Just Wonderful it’s « Seasons » slow, hight🤫💋Perfect, I’m love the beautiful song, Thanks RAY 🙏💋
I saw Badlands in Sept 1989 in Knoxville TN. Great show
wish I could have caught a show, make me sick I was unable to.
Saw them at RCKNDY in Seattle:)
This could easily be the follow up to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin
Now being a few years shy of 50 I’m now realising this
I’ve loved this album since it’s inception
Ray Guillen R.I.P.....
You may live your life and never hear the perfect storm of genius music this album is. If you have never heard all this album you have not been given a true rock album till this.
Awesome song and album! Bring me back!
Ray really reached Plants Heaven with those high screams..... no other could this way
Grateful to have seen this group live opening up for Cinderella. 🤘🏼
Cinderella should ve been opening up for Badlands
Ray had that "thing" most of us "Who sing" wish we could have! Taken too soon, would have loved to hear what he did next ...
Jake was Osourne's best, and this song is simply incredible.
madbradwilson crazy as hell
Um, there's a guy named Randy Rhoads who blows Jake away.
MrNWA4Life you’re stupid

so unfortunate ray is gone. even worse, jake is truly the top underrated guitarists of this era. and to think jake used to warm up on blues riffs back in the ozzy days and ozzy told him to stop playing blues cuz it wasn't in at the time. little does ozzy know it's not always about metal. this entire album kicks ass really not one bad song on it.
