About oil smells, ,, I worked in a tool and die shop. They had quite a few cnc Mills and lathes. And the oil that floated on the coolant over the weekend, would grow e coli. My wife works in a laboratory , and that is how I know. When I showed this to the owner, he hired a professional company to clean and recondition the cooling liquid, once a month.. Oh,, and the reason for this concern,, it would smell like ripe hog crap. And the employees would get sick with flu like symptoms. .. Thanks for sharing your videos. And keep up the good work.
Must admit this is the first instruction I have seen on the use of Reamers... I thought it was the flutes that did the cutting, not the end bit. I have some 1 3/4 holes that need reaming out to 45 mm, so I thought you would put an expanding reamer loose in the hole, then tighten up as you revolved it. I now see that you would first set the reamer to 45 mm and use it like a drill bit.... Many thanks for the video, saved me a lot of broken reamers...
Confused from Nottingham! I have bought a reamer 10mm it has a left hand spiral and it says “ cutting direction right hand”. So if I have the reamer in the tail stock, which way shock the chuck turn ( looking face on at the chuck ) ?
I assume that you just need to run the lathe in normal forward direction - slowly . . . . if it doesn't ream the hole then you are turning the wrong way.
Hey Keith, do you ever get models of line shaft workshops? I tried searching but that isn't the right term I remember advertising for some steam models of line shaft layouts, but cannot find any right now also, ever work on larger steam plants, not models, not tractors, but the ones in between, say just under steam launch size?
You sometimes joke about it and sometimes (this time) there's not even a hint of irony in you voice :) One day when everybody catches up we won't have to worry about it.

Love it!
Eau de Suds. Got to be up there with Canel No: 5! I quite like the smell of cutting fluid but I can see how some could wear of it.
I love your work and videos

The only ones I have seen are the small steam toy type.

🔧😊👍
You are obviously hanging out with the wrong women if they don't like the smell of oil, metal, and even coolant.
