You may be able to make some decisions but even those dont matter when you factor in parents opinions. Even at 20 I cant think of a single large decision my parents havent had one say in. When I was younger I had a stunning gf. Top 3 hottest in a school of 2000. I got to talking to a girl on the internet and it was different for me. We could talk about anything and know for certain it wouldn't get out to other people. It was an escape. It was fun freeing and sometimes romantic. It's hard to explain. It’s a generational thing. When Max and I were this age, we were expected to move out and be adults by 18. I moved out at 17. Didn’t depend on my parents for anything after that. Now adays kids move out much later and mature much slower. So an 18 yo now adays is like a 12 year old when Max and I were kids. Harsh, but truth. My 18 and 19 still live with me and depend on me fully. It’s a different world.

Generally, for some cultures ... kids only move out when they're ready to get married (which is paid for, by the parents). Usually, like for many Europeans and all Middle Eastern cultures, the parents look after the kids ... pay for their education ... until they've graduated. Many, who can afford it, buy a house for their kids once they get married ... They usually have a strong family bond ... unlike anglo-saxon cultures.

It’s a generational thing. When Max and I were this age, we were expected to move out and be adults by 18. I moved out at 17. Didn’t depend on my parents for anything after that. Now adays kids move out much later and mature much slower. So an 18 yo now adays is like a 12 year old when Max and I were kids. Harsh, but truth. My 18 and 19 still live with me and depend on me fully. It’s a different world.

Generally, for some cultures ... kids only move out when they're ready to get married (which is paid for, by the parents). Usually, like for many Europeans and all Middle Eastern cultures, the parents look after the kids ... pay for their education ... until they've graduated. Many, who can afford it, buy a house for their kids once they get married ...
They usually have a strong family bond ... unlike anglo-saxon cultures.

Nev wasn’t very understanding when the kid said he listens to what his family tells him to do. Maybe Nev was lucky enough to have parents that backed off once he was 18 but not everyone has that. Parents can be super controlling especially at 18 that’s still really young.
