I ate a box of strawberries yesterday and they are unbelievably fantastic. Mindblowing. The fruit, in general, in Japan is some of the finest in the world. And the most expensive.
Spent time in Yuzawa teaching and was unaware of the Strawberry Farms there. What a nice discovery. We will be back to Japan next month and definitely will plan to enjoy the in season strawberries. Best strawberry I ever had though was one wrapped in Mochi in Himeji. FWIW, when I was in Hawaii at the beginning of the New Year, one of the Japanese stores there were promoting the soon to expected arrival of strawberries from Japan. The proprietor was Mana Sandwiches known for their fruit sandwiches available at the small food court on the windward side of the Ala Moana shopping center.
Oh why, oh why John! Why do you go Live-Streaming from all of these fun, fun, sweet-o places on the one day when I can't get to the computer to watch them live with you! Ooh the world is so unfair😂😂😂 I hope that Kanae will reward you for bringing her fresh picked 🍓Strawberries🍓 at least. Important note about picking 🍓Strawberries🍓: The larger they are, the less concentrated is the flavour and sweetness of the berry. The smaller berries by far have the most flavour and concentrated sweetness of them all. Fun Facts about 🍓Strawberries🍓. 😁😁 Love 🤗 your Streams John, Wish I could have caught these ones too. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy! Cheers🍻
Many ski resorts nearby and I wish I have known about this place before I visited Yuzawa region a few years back! Thank you John and I will have to go back!!
Man o Man! This was one heckuva livestream! Love this strawberry episode. I can't believe how beautiful the strawberries are in Japan. They look so flawless compared to the ones here in the US. I'm sure the US version is not as sweet as the ones you ate here too! Thank you for sharing this with us. Added this on to my list. :)
Been a while since we have seen Kanae be great to see her join you on some of these adventures on the live streams together you are great it is always nice to see Kanae experience something she hasn't seen before in Japan her reaction is fantastic because it is coming from someone born in Japan
Its a winter time" pick your own" farm! In UK we have pick your own farms where you can go and do this not just with strawberries other fruits too! Pity its a pandemic other wise you could of taken a pot of cream in and eaten your way around 😋
I really wonder how they are keeping bees active there, with all that snow around and ventilators. They need to keep their beehives inside but it seems really strange none of them escapes outside.
your dead right John Strawberries in japan are fantastic . Evey time ive gone to Japan I have no problem in paying $20 Australian for 10 strawberries. It may coast a lot but well worth it.
In the 90's growing up in Nova Scotia Canada a lot of us worked in the strawberry fields! There was a Japanese dude we called "The Dragon" because he picked SO Fast! It was my 1st job, they said "eat as many as you want, you'll get sick of them"
I love your videos. I am a very small youtuber with about 16 subscribers so i understand it is hard to make good videos so thanks for the great videos.
I'm always confused by this. In Germany we grow the strawberrys at the field and thats only possible in summer. I tought they need a lot of sun to be sweet.
We grow them in the greenhouse because summer is too hot, they grow more quickly outside in the sun and the sugar content is lower. Nothing to be confused about. German taste vs Japanese taste. Japan also has their own varieties, there are thousands of kinds of strawberries 🍓 a lot of cross breeding.
@@onlyinjapanGO Thank you for the quick answer. I just remembered to have some late strawberries at my balkony in autum and they where much more sour than the ones in summer. Got to try Japanese ones.
@@RAZGR1Z Well, if the guy believed that, then why wear two layers? haha. Also, do you tell your dentist, or docter, to not wear a mask? You know, since they don't "do jack"? hahaha!!!
Wowww, I love the contrast between the snowy landscape, and the strawberry heaven inside the greenhouse.

Strawberry Fields Forever
I almost started singing that but the Beatles are totally copyrighted!
It is highly unusual to see an active honeybee worker in these very cold conditions in winter. Japanese honeybees must be very tough !

I don't even want to imagine how much each strawberry 🍓 costs!! Here in Southeast London we buy a bowl of them for £1.
A lot more labor goes into developing, growing, and processing (sorting and packaging) high-priced strawberries.
Those strawberries look incredible. Please can you do a video about Takeshi's Castle or Ninja Warrior.
Usually, they are sour. Sweet? My cup of tea. Got to get some at whatever cost.
What variety are those strawberries?
I don't know anything about farming. Are these boxes of soil or some sort of hydroponic system?
Wow ichigo tabetai naaaa 🍓
Strawberry Mafia makes an excellent band name.
The weird ones are also great
How long is strawberry season?
3:51 These strawberries are definitely not for people with trypophobia.
They seem to lack the yellowish seeds. Or are they just deeper?
23:22 I would have gone for the 3 wishes. and I wish for 3 more magic straw berries 😂
Strawberry buffet. Surely, they made it home (your stomach).
I really wonder how they are keeping bees active there, with all that snow around and ventilators. They need to keep their beehives inside but it seems really strange none of them escapes outside.

Where do I get mother plants of these Japanese strawberries? I wish to have it in India Maharashtra
Looks cold
It's not hard to spend somone elses money...John. You should know this better than most.
We lived in Japan for awhile and now my kid won't eat US fruit. Says it tastes like water, bad texture etc... He's not wrong.
Strawberries covered in sweetened condensed milk? Is that a thing? That sounds amazing!!🍓😋
Isn't it a white house ?

Pretty expensive strawberry.
I would probably buy a few to try as a foodie and if I'm a tourist, but I'm not sure of their audience for this.
It is confusing that strawberry voice and Kanae voice are the same.
How many Kilo Strabery you can pick in 15 minute.
You are wearing TWO masks 😆
The guy wearing 2 masks, but not covering his nose. smh.
Masks don't do jack
@@RAZGR1Z Well, if the guy believed that, then why wear two layers? haha. Also, do you tell your dentist, or docter, to not wear a mask? You know, since they don't "do jack"? hahaha!!!
I'm not a big fan of strawberries.
