I wish news and media would do this for more regular Joe’s. Just documenting a guys day at work. That’s more relatable than all the celebrity crap they always talk about
Is being in a crane relatable to you?
@@antoineholliday7631 People working regular man jobs and hearing there stories are more relatable to what the fucking kardashians are doing, do you get that?
@@ajet0452 Where are you watching your media? I haven’t seen anything about the Kardashians in mainstream non entertainment media since The OJ case. I think you need to go and look before claiming something is something.

I don’t know, a million dollars an hour of like 5 total hours? I’d only work one day and retire
Id work 3 days for 8 hours then I’d be done
You could. I am horribly afraid of heights but had to help build a 2 story steel structure for a guy with shoddy scissor lifts, and cut-corners practices. At first, I was terrified. After a while i was comfortable hanging out of them. I know, only 20 ft, but i guess it's more scary not being able to pay the bills. As a mobile crane operator, I have great admiration for anyone who climbs that far to go to work. My morning "commute" is five steps up to a climate controlled cab with a fully reclining lounger waiting for me.

To be fair, no, I assemble cranes and i’m 17 and to be fair, hanging from the cranes isn’t that bad.

0:51 and a bottle of A1 steak sauce. Hello years old recommended video.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that caught that
Respect to you sir
I always wondered what it is like up there. We have a large project next to me. I still remember how shocked people were when I said they actually have to climb up there, there is no elevator. Watching how the erect the crane is also amazing.
I was a tree trimmer ran a 55 foot bucket truck daily. I’m terrified of heights. Lol
It's the smaller heights that scare me anyway. I stepped onto the landing gear of a little Cessna doing 80mph at 10,000 feet a couple times and it didn't bother me. Climbing a ladder onto a roof on the other hand, I don't like it at all. Falling off a ladder your just going to get crippled most likely. 55' ain't no joke however. I think I heard somewhere that falling 35' you have a 1 in 3 chance of it being fatal.
Being a crane operator is one of the easiest jobs period. Everyone on that job site wants that chair. The pay is amazing! Sit in chair with ac n heater all day. Getting paid top dollar keeping safety in mind

I was thinking the same for me but the other end
Talk about having strong legs and arms.
It's mostly in the legs- arms are just to keep you upright in the climb. The truth is however that climbing vertical ladders is less annoying than staircases. With each rung of a ladder you gain so much height, my old crane was 40m/ about 7 storey above ground when we started the project. took about a minute and a half leisurely climb to get into the cab

Thats true. But it ain't easy getting to where he is. It takes a lot of hours of training and a lot of bull crap to get there. But the good part is, once your in a union you have access to all the training for free to get there. I wish I had more time to utilize the training sites.
@@pengkha7576 true but college is also a lot of “bull crap” and a lot of hours to get a degree that doesn’t even guarantee a job until you can display competency and leadership, which a lot of students tend to lack.
@@bigzoinks93 It's actually pretty hard in the real world. Because you are competing with seniors, envious people, and bosses. When your colleagues start to see you climbing up the ladder, you are going to attract bad attention.

That lower third is REALLY getting in the way of the story... takin' up a lot of real estate on the screen there... :-/
Maybe the camera-operator forgot about that being so high up ;) I can relate to camera-operators forgetting the most basic things when they are faced with something they are scared of.
@@weeardguy Are you saying you think the cameraperson puts the blurb banner on while they film? That's hilarious!
@@alexapuerta Well more or less: yes. Professional grade camera's have numerous settings to provide safety's in their viewfinder that take station-banners (like this one) into account, so a camera-operator knows which part of the image should be kept inside the safety-area to avoid people at home being unable to see them.
Either the camera-operator forgot to turn his safety on or was scared of heights and thus forgot to notice such basic things like keeping the image in safety.
@@weeardguy Huh. I figured it was done in post and that the camera operator would simply take the best, fullest shots on location.
@@alexapuerta Nope. The camera-operator has an outlined area in his viewfinder that either shows the lower third like in this instance as a dotted line, or even a greyed-out area of what he or she is shooting, while the rest of the image in the viewfinder is clear as normal.
The banner is (ofcourse) added at that station (although camera-built-in basic formatting of the banner is ever more common and possible), but the camera-operator has to take that lower-third into account. This one clearly forgot that last part.
