It's a shame that more people don't know more psychology, because if they did, they would've clocked "Jax" as a textbook psychopath (or as it's now called, APD) a long time ago. Then again, there isn't an individual on this show that has any real redeemable qualities, and who doesn't score higher than the average person on an NPD checklist - that includes LVP. So, there's that.
I don't think he gets enjoyment from seeing people in pain; I think it's a means to an end. I think he is a sociopath/narcissist.

M: Psychopathy does not necessarily entail sadism, but a lack of empathy and a conscience. Albeit they tend to overlap due to many similar traits, APD and NPD are not the same. And much like a lot of people within the field of psychology, I do not differentiate between psychopathy and "sociopathy". Those who do that, are the ones who, in sum, believe that psychopaths are born, and "sociopaths" are made (hence their respective names). That said, I agree with the view that although psychopaths are antisocial, someone's who's antisocial is not necessarily a psychopath.

I understand. The person with the PhD should've clarified that sadism is not a criteria per se, but callousness and a lack of empathy, remorse or guilt is. This might lead to sadism (at times at an extreme level), but the most common trait is that they are simply indifferent to the pain of others - because they lack the ability to empathize. So, it's not necessarily that they enjoy your pain, they just don't care about it.

Vanderpump Rules is reality show that tells you who you should not be friends with. Jax and kristin are very fascinating characters. Their entire behaviour and mentality are very contradicting to a point where the audience feel confused. you start to question whether their doing this behaviour on purpose or is it inherently a part of their nature. I personally think that reality shows exists for one purpose which is filling our need of boredom which is quite sad.
