FYI, there are many types of foam and hardness(Shore 15, 25, 35, 45 etc). You want rubber foam or synthetic rubber foam, or neoprene foam, or NBR foam(those used in gym or bicycle handles, they have foam tube of various inner diameter). There are many videos on making donut from flat neoprene foam(cut into strip, roll and use contact cement to glue to create a donut - It really works! or use hole cuter to create donut directly but with a lot of waste material) for 1/12 scale RC. You can reference on those video. Don't use EVA foam, they have very low traction from my experience, even at 25 shore rating.
