Have you considered Musa velutina? It’s a little plain looking but the pink bananas are pretty eye catching. I’m growing some for the first time this year but they’re still quite small. I’m not sure if they would have enough heat and/or time to fruit in England though.
@@jimspalmsuk5098 That's too bad, everything I've read is that it is supposed to be very hardy almost as much as basjoo. But, this is my first time growing it and I don't know anyone that has experience with it. Seems to be little interest in growing it over here.
@markchitty6505 I cut all leaves off just leaving the center roller. Pot up in rest dry compost and keep in my conservatory. Lots of light and temperature between 4-10c. Never lost one yet 👍
have you tried Musa 'Helen's hybrid' yet?
@@joezimmerman1089 Not yet might give it a go next year 👍

My velutina died last winter in North East Uk. Lasiocarpa, basjoo and sikhamensis in contrast have done well up here
@tropicalpdx1341 I have tried it a couple of time, but doesn't seem that hardy. I'm not sure I want to overwinter lots of banana's in the house 🤔
@@vincenzecalzone8666 That sucks.

Great vid Jim. so the Ensete you say you dry store.... do you cut all the leaves off, and keep in a cold greenhouse or bring indoors ?
