Great advice and a public thank you for all the advice you’ve been given me whether it was about how to switch video formats between horizontal to vertical, how to deal with ad placement, or communicate with collaborators youre the best 🫶🏻🫶🏻 What you guys present is truly who you are 😊 (and shout out to PapaFlow for the step by step DaVinci guide haha)
Love the channel! Curious if you guys have ever heard of The Wingfeather Saga, the last book is the second highest rated book on Goodreads (at least that I've found). it sits at a 4.75, while Words of Radiance sits at a 4.76. Great series!
@@2ToRamble Not very well known, only 4 short books, YA Fantasy, written with a bit of humor, highly recommend. The first book is a little slow, but books 2-4 well make up for it
Honestly I must be like 40% of your ad revenue. I watch on my TV while I'm cooking and never skip the ads. Also on spotify I get ads and never skip. At this point I should just join the patreon and be done with it 😂, love you guys! Keep being original❤
Is it just me who keeps trying to pick out every individual book on Austin & Richard's bookshelf. Out of sheer curiosity, are you dividing the bookshelf into the Austin Side & Richard side by who loves the books more? Btw, great video! I love the content you put out.
They do - there’s a small share of the monthly membership premium that UA-cam gives to creators, which is to my knowledge not better or worse than any regular view coming from an ad.
This is like a safe place to me, to hear people talking about books whit the enthusiasm that you talk about them is something so amazing. I'm a little bit new to this channel but you are by far my favourite book channel even if I haven't read most of the books that you read, but I still watch your videos (except the parts with the spoilers). You introduced me to red rising and to Brandon Sanderson. So I'm so thankful to you The four p's
The point about community is very true. I have been a pretty consistent reader since I was ten years old and despite being kind of young (29) and being an avid youtube viewer, i didn't discover booktube until just over a year ago. I didnt even consider that it would exist as I always felt pretty alone in my love of reading. None of my close friends read. I didnt meet very many people who read. But now I have discovered so many cool people who share my love of reading. And my reading has only increased since! Thank you for what you guys do -keep reading alive!
Gents! Awesome video 👏 thanks so much for sharing. Started a book tube channel in March with a good friend and it’s been great so far - a lot of natural learning mistakes, especially with the AV stufffff, but we’re loving podcasting and talking plot, and using it as opportunity to hang out and talk about a shared passion. We’re working to ramp-up the production value, but for now we’re focused on having fun with it and honing in our style. I’ve been watching your channel for the last year and LOVE it. You guys are clearly passionate and have a solid dynamic. I look up to your channel and draw inspiration from you constantly. Thanks so much for all of the advice!!!!!!!!
Cheers guys! As soon as I read your first sentence, went over to check out your channel. Left a comment there - appreciate everything you said! Thank you!
You can save the file to your own device or area of your choosing on top of having it on UA-cam, though not sure how “ownership” persay works there - definitely something to look into
The Four P’s! Great video guys! I’m still a tiny channel but everything you talked about here is some great value that I’ll definitely reference back to in the future
I disagree with the ad revenue take. There is a late 50s “retire on moderate income” guy whose channel is almost 2 years old and he consistently makes ~2k every month in ad revenue. He does 10ish min long talking videos 2-3 days a week with no editing but he has a great personality. He is very happy making 2k monthly from UA-cam. One of his big advantages is that he records out in beautiful nature so it provides a nice visual stimuli while he is talking. I think you guys could do 30-45 min videos 3 days a week and make more money. Btw I didn’t have any ads for this video and I’m not sure why. Did you demonetize the video?
What would y’all say is the minimum amount of subscribers to have before starting a Patreon? I’m not ready to start one, but am thinking about it in the future.
Great question - our lame answer is “it depends” but a more helpful answer would be to test the waters and mention on social media/one of your videos that youre thinking about making a patreon and offering ___ or ___, or better yet see what people would like to get while they support you! Could be as few as 100 loyal subscribers to 10,000 more casual subscribers, so subs arent always the best measure although it helps as an indicator. Hope this helps - Rich and I started our Patreon at roughly 4.5-5k subscribers and it worked great for us.
It’s interesting how this kind of a video is possible. Of you do this kind of a video once you’re more established and have a somewhat following, then it tends to come off good. If you make this sort of video and you’re not that big then I think you come off bitter.
Just wanted to give some feedback. I mainly follow Mike’s Book Reviews, BookBorn, and you guys on BookTube. I honestly follow you guys more for the entertainment, than the actual book talk. And I don’t mean that in a negative way, y’all are just way more entertaining than anybody else I’ve seen. That’s probably because there’s two of you and you’re relatable (I’m a 24 yo male). But even tho I am binging all your videos, I probably wouldn’t join the patreon because a) I have never spent money to consume UA-cam content before and b) I assume the patreon value is mostly in the book talk, not in you guys messing around and roasting each other (or putting out ridiculous gym-merch videos). Anyways, just wanted to give you a data point. Y’all are the best! P.S. Would LK love some more movie reviews if you ever did them.
Absolutely love your channel. Really interesting video. If you're curious, I found your channel by seeing you guys featured in Matt's Book Review channel end of the year video where you mentioned the new red rising video. I thought you guys seemed awesome and wondered why I hadn't heard of you guys and subbed straight away. The rest is history 😋
One of the reasons I am so interested in your videos is that they’re not surface level. Things like subjectivity vs. objectivity and the theory of escapism are such original and thought provoking ideas for videos as they relate to books and the way we consume them. I’m tired of the same surface level crap from every UA-cam video I click on all saying the same stuff. You’re the most original booktubers out there at the moment!
What a compliment - thanks so much for the feedback. We love doing those kinds of videos and this helps affirms to us for future ideas that you’re enjoying when we talk about these topics!
Lovely video and so interesting to hear about the 3 hr convo that started it all ❤ I was thinking of getting the bookmarks but the shipping from the US is a bit expensive 😂😂 don't worry, one day I'll buy them ❤❤ What gets me is the cringe booty pants and the pose that slays it 😂😂😂 incredible work yall
Thank you so much 😂 - and let us knownif the bookmarks are showing you outrageous shipping, because we send those out ourselves and it should cost $2 international, $1 national - hope its not charging you anything crazy! And yes the booty shorts are our kost prized possession lol
@2ToRamble omg you're right...I think I must have confused it with the beanie or smth (because I remember the shipping being like, 13 usd - which makes sense for a piece of clothing to be shipped to my area). Omg if it's only 2 dollar shipping I'll definitely get some bookmarks soon!
As someone who has zero interest in creating their own channel, this video had no business being THIS interesting, but here we are, lol. I am curious... does it hurt your guys' analytics if I watch at 2x speed? Or if I pause a video halfway through and then watch the rest later? In any case, thank you both so much for creating this safe haven here. Your videos have dragged me through some rough times, and that means more to me than I can say. Keep rocking on ❤
What a compliment, thanks so very much! I believe UA-cam counts that as watching half the length of the video since UA-cam tracks it in “real time” meaning however long someone is literally watching our video - so if watching at 2x speed it counts as half the full length video while 0.5 speed would count as twice the length of the video. So now youre obligated to watch us speak at 0.25 speed if youre a true supporter and you can watch us take 10 minutes to say “Weeeeellllllllcooooooooommmmeeeeee baaaaaaaaaaaack (Long pause, breath) Tooooooo anooooooth--(*cough break) eeeeerr epppiiiiisssoooooooodeeeee ooooffffffffff ttthhhheeeee tttwwwwwooooooooo ttoooooooo rrrraaaaammmmbbbbbllleeeeeeee ppppooooo…..

Thank you so much for the video, I’m not done with the video yet but because of you guys, John/Jakob from Talking Story, and the Chatting with Nutts episodes I have been wanting to start a channel. I don’t even really care about numbers but I really love the community. I also want to use it as a learning experience but again, thank you. Also, I really relate to the book discussions but I can’t even get people around me to read the books I love.
