I used to think caviar leather from Chanel was indestructible. I was wrong. I def feel like Chanel has downgraded their quality leather. Complete disappointment!
Thank you for sharing this! Chanel will not be getting my money after all the ridiculous price increases and downgrading in quality. I wanted to get the classic card holder and when I saw it in store it looked soooo poorly made that it looks like the cheap dupes they sell! It looked nothing like the one my friend got from 10 years ago. Honestly what a shame.
I can totally relate. I experienced similar incidents with YSL handbags and wallet and YSL told me the same thing that it was normal wear and tear. I do not use my Chanel SLGs for everyday use. I will keep the black one . I had mines for over 10 years now. Try to sell the lighter ones.

@@xokimtran definitely agree with your statement while caviar may be harder than lambskin you should still exercise extreme caution when wearing your bag.
Chanel quality are horrendous. Not only color rub off, leather peal off. I suspect Chanel use cheap leather and cheap dye. Every one said Chanel and LV quality horrendous. But at least u don't hear LV leather peal off. 🤔
The leather peeling off really is so awful! It completely negates the idea that caviar is harder wearing and sturdier than lambskin. It obvi doesn’t matter anymore. So frustrating for us consumers!
I'm here to sadly tell you that last month I experienced peeling with lv empreinte leather in an slg that I bought new from boutique. It was not even used yet when I noticed it. It didn't happen once, but it happened twice when I went to go exchange it for another one and showed it to the SA as I was inspecting the second piece. 😭
@@kristidao6107 I have alot alot emprinte leather LV. I never have peeling. Glazing issue yes. But at least LV after care customer service are great. They will exchange for u for the new one. Chanel don't have after care customer service. I am currently sueing Chanel. VCAT come back to me after 10 month I apply becoz covid backlog. I am sure I will win my case. Chanel don't take any responsibility when it come to after care. If Chanel Australia block me. I go another country buy. Well not leather Chanel. May be something like douville fabric. But I am not thinking Chanel anymore atm. Only hermes and LV
@@nikkithompson1980 I agree that in general LV empreinte has not had any issues. I have another slg and a speedy 20 in empreinte and both were great. I think it might've been the color for that piece that ultimately caused it to have so many peeling issues with each piece that I saw. I also agree that LV after care service is far ahead of Chanel and even YSL. My bf's PO cracked after a month and even though it was hotstamped and everything, they still graciously gave us the option to exchange or receive a full refund. Yes a refund and not only gift card option! Same I think no more Chanel for now as well. Prices are getting too much and quality keeps going down.

The fact they apologies and fully refund me back after 1 year drama coz I sue them. They know they will loose the court case. Coz they know their dye are cheap. Yes, no more Chanel for me too. I have 6 mini rectangular and 1 GST tote, all of them will be just a collection and I not going to use them. I did use 2 mini rectangular caviar and GST that I bought many years ago and they still look brand new with many use but I will retired them with the brand new mini that I got and display them on my cabinet. I have alot LV bags and 1 Hermes bag. I just use those. And Chanel just for my joy looking at them. But never said never if I ever go to Europe and see mini that I love in the future.
So unfortunate to pay 500+ bucks for this piece and it peels in 1 month :( I suggest you sell your other cardholders and get one from hermès since their quality is better than chanel’s. I have a flap cardholder from Dior and I used it for almost 3 months, and, despite being lambskin, it didn’t show wear as your chanel :/ only markings from the cards being pressed against the leather, which I guess is usual wear.
It also happens to my gucci marmont card holder, it is also leather. I think it’s not about the brand but the painted animal skin 😂. I also felt like you before so I thought to just buy card holder made from canvas.

I have def had the same issues with a YSL handbag before too! The sharp corners just rub and scrap the leather off. So annoying.

You have other things in the bag such spas keys that would damage the card holder too.
I was looking at 1 brand new in store and there is a small cracked already.
😱😱😱 this just makes me so sad that Chanel isn’t doing more to improve the quality of their goods
