    This was super interesting. Even though I can't afford the price tag I enjoyed learning about the setup on the Inspire and comparing to other AP platforms.

      ***** Thanks for the feedback. The price tag is very steep on this one but so far I've been impressed with the unboxing. I'll be taking it to the field this weekend and will share how it goes.

    Great video Dennis, even when the price point is completely out of my league the Inspire 1 look like a great "Drone."
    I also like to point out that is refreshing when you actually complemented the design and overall stability of the Inspire, that's what I like about your videos, you stay true to the hobby and never sway one way or another with pointless criticism to the product.
    Keep it up!

      regzgz I appreciate the feedback. People generally say I'm too "nice" when I review a product but in the case of the I1 I've been incredibly impressed. Thank you for the good words.

      Gary LaMantia You going to use it for photogrammetry? I'm going to give it a test soon and will share my results.

    Hi Dennis. Just a quick tip that may help your friend. As for the use of the android system. If u take a look at Dave slack video about the Phantom 3 u will see that he has had problems with the use of android with connection and latency issues. After he changed to an iPad all the issues and latency were gone. I would only expect this would apply to the inspire as they use the same light bridge system. I know purchasing an ipad Sucks cause I'm an android user (aftrer many years of apple use, changed to galaxy and never happier) as well. But I have found the apple system was more of what DJI has built their platforms to be used with. Just my two cents. Great job as with all of your videos. !!!!

      ThailandVenture Thanks for that bit of info. What sucks even more is that the supported iOS devices are not the cheap ones. I don't want to get an iPad Air or iPad Mini 2. I guess the iPad Mini 2 isn't that expensive, but I really wish it ran well on Android. I too like Android and will look into this some more. Appreciate the comment.

      daniel topete I would definitely think it's possible. I'll be doing some testing soon and will share my results. I recommend using Pix4D or Agisoft Photoscan.

      Brian Ballard That's a great idea. I'm booked with a couple of projects right now but when time frees up I'll see if I can put something together. Thanks.

    3dr and DJI are going the Windows update marketing style to keep customers on a tight leash. Can you fly it with a simple Tarranis? or 9x? I don't think so. Nice design but the makers are like street dealers wanting you coming back everyday. LOL!

      I think if a serious photographer was interested they will wait for v2 with GH4 or better cam though DJI will update that as well I guess. I does require online connectivity for upgrades that is my point and concern in regards the closed nature of control system. The price is good, by far the best in rtf 4k

      @dennisbaldwin  9 років тому +1

      Hoverbot1TV I hear you. I struggle with that too. I don't want to work with something that locks me into their tech. I like the open source movement much better, but there's always that group of users that don't want to tinker and just want it to work off the shelf as ***** points out. Will be interesting to see where this all ends up.

    Negative! DJI does not recommend charging the battery and charger at the same time. The charger barely charges the battery. Charger may become overheated if charging both items at once.

    • @startazz
      @startazz 9 років тому

      Pete Larson Yep your correct Pete because the Inspire 1 manual states that you should NOT charge the transmitter and the Inspire Battery at the same time.

      @dennisbaldwin  9 років тому +1

      Pete Larson I've heard that from a few others as well. I've successfully charged both with no overheating problems, but obviously won't be trying that again! Thanks for sharing.

      startazz Thanks guys. I won't be doing that again.

    The inspire is well thought out platform with a camera that performs well, really well actually. But for mid to high level photographers and film makers, the inspire 4k camera despite its capabilities will not win over a loyal canon, nikon, sony, Lumix... Ect..ect user. Maybe in time, but not this decade. Two of my friends have inspires and I was going to buy an inspire but chose to wait for the buzz to simmer down and the firmware that will fix the bugs or even wait for v2. In other words I didnt want to be a paying customer/beta tester that dji is famous for when ever they release a new ground breaking product. There were alot of issues early with the inspire (props,fly aways,firmware.. Ect) but now is a good time to get into an inspire. We tested the phantom 3 and inspire head to head and the inspire was better and clearly the victor. But $2500 better....? Your bank account would have to decide that;-) Thanks for doing this video revitalizing my intrest in this machine. Maybe I will get one now. But what I bought while my friends purchased inspires was the Align 480L with G3-gh gimbal. Maybe I'll do a video on that one. You could watch one of my vids for a change.....Lol.
    Thanks Dennis

      Keith Rolston Man great points. I appreciate you sharing your perspective. My biggest frustration with DJI and now even 3DR with SOLO is the vendor lock-in. You end up paying a lot more for custom batteries vs standard lipos. I get what their doing and it makes sense from a business perspective, but I still enjoy building my own rigs. I'm definitely not the ideal demographic for an off-the-shelf drone yet the Inspire 1 is really well-polished and has great features.
