  • PANCH Andy Narell Project 2013 - Live at Winterthur Switzerland
Ferrum Helveticum led by Claudio Pini. This large steel orchestra hushes even the harshest critics of steelband music. The orchestra plays Latin and Calypso, all seasoned with a pinch of Jazz and arranged in Bigband style. Hefty unisonos, rhythmical bass lines and virtuoso solos let the audience forget that they are listening to a steelband. This orchestra is a far cry from your palm beach cliché and is on its way to make itself a name outside the steelband scene as well.

PANCH Andy Narell Project 2013 presents the concert of the swiss steel orchestras Extempo from Winterthur and ferrum helveticum from Berne. Both bands invited guest players and participated in a workshop with Andy Narell where they learnt each a piece of music arranged by Andy.
"I had a great time working with everybody and the concerts were really cool. Good crowds, nice music and great vibes." (Andy Narell)

Andy is using advanced harmonies not normally heard on the steel band in Trinidad. Boogsie and Ray Holman are two of the arrangers who use those types of harmonies.

Charles Barry He is a jazz musician and knows how to go beyond the simplicity of the normal Trinidadian arrangers. I sure you know that you have some arrangers who can't read or write music and it shows in their music. I personally believe that you should be able to read sheet music, write charts, listen to steel pan music, know music theory, and listen to steel pan music.

@@numanuma20That's foolish talk!!! Trinidad and Tobago arrangers have been proven to be world class and most sought out worldwide. Andy learnt his craft from the best in the business and they all came from TnT. He is in constant communication with all the top Trini pan inventors, tuners, players and arrangers in the business. The entire steel Orchestra was invented and assembled by Trinidadians so stop being malicious and absurd by stating what you did.
