"She was good for a girl" is what she was trying to say. While she's better than most guys. Warpaint are 4 Planets orbiting around each other and in between their individual gravities .
I loved the end of the interview how Jenny was struggling to find the right word to articulate her feelings. I laughed because I totally relate to that process. That is a creative mind at work my friends...being exacting in wanting to express your feelings. I love the down to earth nature of this band....the word charming doesn't even begin to define just how cool I think they are in interviews.
so much unnecessary negativity in this comment section :( I love how versatile this band is! (Wealth does not equate talent). Happy to finally get some backstory/insight into Warpaint!
thank you so much for this interview, the questions were really good and creative! I have watched so many interviews in which the Warpaint girls had to answer the same old questions again and again, this was really refreshing! Keep up the good work :)
Totally agree. It's not easy to do a good interview, Good job, man! Of course it helps if your interviewers are open and intelligent, which the ladies were/are.
I've long been a huge fan of this group, and their whole approach/sound. I'll say it: Stella is the Foundation that makes the whole sound gel together as a cohesive whole. I love the two of them together as a rhythm section. And I *Love* that they approached their last album by splitting the band into duos to craft their material, 2 people at a time. Brilliant approach. The fact is, at the end of the day- these four Women are effortlessly cranking out the type of restraint & power that Most musicians of All Genders aspire to, in a group collaborative setting. Well done. In the words of David Lynch: Keep. Going
Fun fact: here are videos of the 2008 performances at the Troubadour they mentioned as being the first time they saw each other play: Warpaint: ua-cam.com/video/7kIFWzxrueM/v-deo.html Stella, John, Josh, and Flea: ua-cam.com/video/JhozCTqlaY8/v-deo.html Love this band so much
She much better than josh. And yeah I was shocked as a drummer how good she is. And it's not sexist. Women dont pick drums so much. It more of a physically demanding instrument. Men have problem with it as well. So for a women as good as her it great
It's so funny, I was immediately attracted to jenny lee, but I was also thinking to myself "she looks like the girl from a knight's tale..." Lol had no idea they were sisters/bandmates
Probably not just Stella's fault, but from 'Elephants' to 'New Song' it got gradually worse. Maybe it makes sense to work on songs for ages. They have become professionals.. not so unique, not as interesting. Really sad. Good thing they get creative during concerts and play old songs!
Yep, their first EP and album were the Best, like I haven't heard something as unique in a while (right now is billie eilish of course) but their next records were really dissapointing..
@@michaelhauser6440 they were hanging out with rock stars in west LA long before they were famous, the original drummer was Jennys sister who’ was an actress, they’ve always lived comfortably.

Stella is one of the greatest drummers of all time. Can´t be compared to anyone. She´s the drum goddess.
My favourite rhythm section!
Mine too! Did you see their live perfomances when they jam? That's magic, they should make a live album, for real.
Is it 'did you see' or 'have you seen'...? Sorry I'm high lol
What's their rhythm method?
stellas just super cool
Perfect sponsor for the watch !!! ♕
Best rhythm section in the game right now hands down
I was obsessed with her.. I played drums too in high school so she was my hero then :>
What a great interview from the rhythm section. Im so happy they found Stella. She's a kickass drummer and such a great fit. I love Warpaint!!!
Stella is one of my fav drummers.
kinda new to this band ...gotta say that drummer is very impressive

Finally a decent interview about music without stupid questions or bored answers

A very tight rhythm section and totally hot.
Australian accent. cool, another Australian making it internationally
As much as I want to dislike them and write them off as privileged hipster kids,...Every time I hear them speak I can't help but like them.
Why..how were they privileged? I rock out with them but I dont kno much of there background
