my dear granddad passed a few weeks ago. his mum was from Hawick and was deeply proud of her hometown. I never met her but I was told her accent was quite "special". count my absolute surprise when I heard our narrator Scott say that his great-grandfather came to Hawick because of the war - so did mine! that's how he met his sweetheart Annie. I wonder if our great-grandfathers crossed paths in this little town. thank you so much for sharing Hawick with us.
oh, i've also recently inherited a beautiful painting of the river that runs through the town that was gifted to my great-grandparents for their wedding day in the 1920s. it hangs on the wall beside my bed and it helps me calm for the night. i hope that one day I can visit - i'm not naive, I know no town or place is perfect, but i just know that it will feel just a little bit like home.
Well done! An excellent presentation. It looks such a pretty town. Why oh why did my parents ever leave!

My great great grandmother immigrated from Hawick. I have her school certificate from Drumlanrig public school given on November 25th 1889. I'm in the process of finding more information. I emailed the local museum/archives office and they sent me some information to help me in my search. I'm excited.

That spelling Jean. Well done, or as they say in Hawick- weel din
It looks so very, very pretty. I can’t see any litter or graffiti. The presenter seems pleasant, down to earth and honest. No axe-welding maniacs in the background, I would be proud of a town like that.
