HP PROBOOK 4530S take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly

  • Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP PROBOOK 4530S laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
This video is like insurance for your laptop. With this video and some skills you will be always sure that at least you can try to repair your laptop. If it's broken you don't have to sell it or throw it away. You can find some new or used parts somewhere and change it. It maybe will be your new job or hobby. And if it didn't worked out you still will be able to ask somebody else to fix it.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!

Excellent. I had given up on my fan/computer, and figured either the heatsink must need new paste, or the motherboard was shot. But following this video, I was able to get to dirt inside the heat pipe radiator, just after the fan in the airflow (or lack of airflow). I'm sure this is my "run away fan" problem.
Thanks. Much cheaper than a new computer.

I had to replace my cooling fan today. It certainly is a lot of work just to replace a cooling fan on a laptop. On my Dell it would take a few minutes. I followed this video and the service manual from HP’s website. I had to do this repair on an extremely cheap budget, and unfortunately the replacement fan is much louder than the original.
The HP parts center wants $45-50 dollars for a new replacement fan. I got mine from ebay for $6.00. I’d probably recommend buying from the parts store; they "might" provide a better quality fan than the one I received from china. Alternatively I would recommend buying a new laptop rather than trying to repair the HP ProBook 4530s. That is if you have the money available.
The hardest and most time consuming part (at least for me) is getting the keyboard and also the top cover off, without breaking or messing up any of it.
Thanks for this video, it did help!

Some dogs can never be trained. My skill of disassembling things is so good, by the time I put it back together, I always ended up with extra screws sitting on the table. :D.

I find extra screws with every disassemble of the same notebook. And i never find that holes to place them back on next disassembles.

Thanks for sharing this. I found this particular laptop unusually difficult to work on. It uses Torx screws (#10), and the problem you had getting the case open was the same for me. I would suggest that instead of using that sharp knife (if that's a Swiss Army, it's very sharp) you use a iSesame opener or something like it. I thought there was going to be blood before the video was over. :)

Hi, if fan isn't very dirty, you may need just to open this cover and try to clean it with airblower and if it will not help, you may need to take it all the way apart to remove fan and heatsink. It is basically depend on how dirty is your fan/heatsink.

Thanks a ton for this. Wish it could've been sooner though...I had to upgrade mine's internal hard disk to 1TB which was available online at a bargain; but I was too afraid to do it myself...searched here but found nothing- ultimately it cost me 500 bucks (=$10) at service centre just for those 30 secs of wizardry!!

I think this laptop is amazing, I've just bought one. It's on the older side of the brands since this is a 2009 model, but with Windows 8 installed on the system, it really contents and beats some of the 2015 laptops, that being said the AMD dual core processor does tax it's self quite a lot to do the most minimum of tasks, but it is a cool running and brilliant designed laptop, sadly HP loose some points as they made the laptop with the slide off inspection panel on the bottom, and then fucked it up by then having to take the top part of the chassis off when they could have implemented an access point from inside that nice slide panel.

    Hello,
if you are talking about 2nd gen and 3rd gen processors, it is usually not possible to change 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd, because of the motherboard.

  • @regazzz
    @regazzz  11 років тому

    Hi,
it is pretty easy. Take peace of paper, sign all screw holes on it, where they are located, like a map, put screws there - put screws back. All cables and wires - either watch video, or make your own pictures prior to removing them and everything will be fine.

  • @regazzz
    @regazzz  11 років тому

If there is a little damage, you can use a clear tape, but I don't think it is necessary, unless without clear tape you can't put it back.

Good vid, but I agree on card vs knife. Also, that static strap does you no good without being hooked up to a strap connected to ground on the wall socket or at the very least to a ground strap clipped to metal frame (such as alligator clip) on whatever you're working on. That's what the metal nipple on the strap is for. Just having the loop on your arm with no attachment does nothing. Here we use anti static coating on the floor with heel straps and wrist straps plugged into a wrist strap distribution block connected to ground on a wall socket.

Maybe also CPU, but you need to dig in to specs of motherboard and CPU you want to use... determine what chipset it is and what CPU can be used ... also look for what TBU is ok for this laptop.

your disassemble skills are unmatched. I have a question pertaining to the HP Probook 4530s that you so quickly tore down to bare chassis. I need to replace the cable from the motherboard to the screen. Do I really need to tear it down all the way to get to the connector on the mother board?

  • @regazzz

It will be hard to remove... it is all about your creativity. if it is sticking out, you may grab it with pliers :) (but in this situation you will not ask me here) maybe you can glue it and remove it when it will get fastened, but it is dangerous, because you may glue something else too ...
In the worst case you will need to change audio jack (good news it is not on motherboard and replaceable).

I have a question, I have the same laptop and my hard drive failed and I have no back up, how do I go about this predicament? The actual laptop is 100% functional but the hard drive isn't :$

Unfortunately I couldn't go any further passed 00:22. I took off the screw and then I tried to take off the frame, but it was really tied up with the rest of the body. Since you took it off so easily (less than one sec), I figured something was wrong and didn't continue. I'll try again next week.

The battery lock is used to take that bit off too, if you slide them all the way with the battery out the frame should just pop off

Viktor Lisonek My next week turned out to be "in two months", but YES! I finally did it. And it just popped off, just like you said. I couldn't open last time because I wasn't pulling the battery lock all the way through. Thank you!

Is it normal for a laptop to be so hard to open and have access to components? Whenever I open some plastic parts in my break.
