I agree about very stressful looking for an apartment. Luckily my daughter convinced us that we should look at purchasing instead. We did that and found 1 bedroom condo at a good price. It needs a little work but will be worth it.
this is the problem here in Vancouver, it's very hard to find a decent size apartment. The biggest apartments are in New Westminster, but you need to take the train, which is really not a big deal.
I definitely can relate… East Hastings is a no no 😅 happened to us too almost a year ago. Vancouver house hunt is not for the weak. Welcome!

Something you should think about while apartment hunting. Landlords raise rents. So you might not wanna get an expensive apartment. Cause if they raise the rent anywhere from $200-$400 unless you move Your gonna be paying that rent plus all the extra stuff you have to pay for.

What if you are a newcomer.
You don’t have a credit score, or a job yet or previous employer
How do you go about that
When we rented ours, we were new comers as well and didn’t have credit score but we had an employer since we came on a work visa.
Another alternative is to know someone who has been here for a while and preferably has a job, that person can stand in as a referee for you. I also mentioned this towards the end of the video. I hope this helps.
