I didn't know I would EVER be able to kneel again! thanks for enlightening me to this! hopefully it will help the tightness I still have (4.5 months after surgery.)
Omg how I wish I’d know about you before. I had both knees replaced, R in fall of 2018 and the L in January of 2019. I had struggled with so much pain for a year or more. Had no trouble walking but never could kneel or bend down without a lot of pain. But as time goes on , even to walk became sore or painful. I wish I had known about this solution. I am so happy to try everything you are teaching us. Will let you know about my progress. I’m now 77 years old but way to young at heart to give up .
Thank you for this encouraging video. It is absolutely vital that i be able to kneel after tkr as i am Muslim and required to pray minimally 5 times a day (which includes prostrating while placing the forehead on the floor). So, i am excited at the prospect of being able to fully prostrate for my prayers again after tkr, if the Creator wills.
Hi Tony. Bending is a big problem. Done my partial knee operation on 26 October 2021. I'm going to do them- but very stiff. Thank you 😊 from South Africa 😀🙏
It is very patient dependent. Once the wound is closed and there are no staples, most patients are able to start kneeling. Many therapists use prone knee extension as a treatment to improve terminal knee extension.
Pauline Matthias that is a question for your surgeon. Locally, our surgeons allow it. We work kneeling on padded surfaces as soon as the wound is healed. But different implants may have different limits.
Tony I am 6 months after TKR. Still trying my best to bend down. I am stiff. I am still wondering (writing to you again after two months, how soon after TKR this gentleman could do it), how do I go about it! Waiting to hear from you! Thank you.🙏🏻
Sorry for the delay. You probably already know but everyone is just so different. Some never kneeling, others are doing it as soon as the incision is healed. Nobody can really say when is the best time to start or if you should start at all. The tightness and stiffness is frustrating for a lot of people. Are you in therapist? What does your therapist suggest?
I am 14 months post op RTKR and 12 months post op LTKR and it is still very uncomfortable on my surgical scars when I kneel. Will this go away? Suggestion on how to work on this? Thanks for your videos!
@@beverlysmith8025 I am 30 months months after TKR still at times bending down on my knees hard. I do go down with effort, getting back is often hard. I feel tight bend, doing exercises, still painful,

My knee feels like it has blade on the inside. There is no way I can kneel. It’s been almost 14 years. My knee and leg is painful from day one
This excersice doing which month after surgery
I don't remember but depending on the surgeon's recommendations some people can start doing this as soon as the incision is closed.
Oh my
20 years following my bilateral TKR, I still can't kneel.
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you have managed 20 years without it so kudos to you!
I was told not to kneel by my surgeon 20 years ago.
What about stairs?
I’m 3 months out and still have tightness on stair’s
Wow
No kneeling for me after TKR. Maybe on a stack of soft pillows.
I don't think I can do that at all
Can you crack your knee cap by kneeling after knee replacement?
No. It's no different than kneeling before surgery. Can't crack it then unless you take a nasty spill.
