Just bought that telecaster a bit over a week ago as my first guitar. I asked the guy at the store to demo a few for me since I don't play yet and I liked the sound of it. End of the day I liked it and just wanted something to get going with without breaking the bank.

Talk about hugely upgradable. I’m watching this while playing my LPB Squire CV 60s Strat which is 100% upgraded: Locking vintage style tuners, loaded Fender Texas Special guard with copper shielding throughout, heavy brass trem block, Highwood saddles etc. Plus a perfect setup, floated trem with zero tuning issues and 1.5 mm (low E) to 1.25 action. Freaking LOVE IT!!!

I bought the exact tele and arrived today. I owned several mim which my present one is my favorite guitar. This is not as good but I am quite happy. Tuners are decent and have that notch which is cool. Ceramic pickups are hot and trebly. I like them but had to lower then to mellow the tone out. They do the twang just fine. Compared to the mim they are fine and won’t replace them. Intonation was excellent and I’d umlike light weight u can’t beat it. It is about 80-90 percent as good as my mim but that lightweight will help. I play in a band and will play this live. It is plenty good for live performances. If u love the tele, look but love heavy music than ceramic pickups may be a bigger plus than the regular alnicos. One price u will, pay for cheapness are necks. The frets do have sharp edges which is hit or miss with a lot of fenders and the wood looks, like it is brand new. I filed the frets ends a bit which helps and plan on adding a nice stain to darken the wood to more vintage look and to add smoothness

Where I see the Squier Thinline standing out is in 60's based Pop and Rock. Lots of strumming and chord picking going in that style of music. Indie music as well.

I loved the Starcaster so much, I bought another one. Squier outdid themselves. I remember Squier being an absolute embarrassment to play in the early 2000s, but not anymore. Their classic vibe is a steal, not to mention their paranormal series gives you the best of both worlds. I have a CV Jag and Offset tele from them. If you open them up, they left room for upgrades and modifications right out of the box. The Jag did need a full setup. The starcaster and tele did not, came perfect out of the box.
As for the starcaster again, these are great. I'm going to slap a bigsby, pick guard, and update the pickups on sharkfin headstock one. The one deluxe version I think I'm going to keep it close to stock.

If that Starcaster had a Bigsby, I’m in.

Both guitars sounded great. Squire coming out with some great affordable options. The Troublemaker series still overtakes the Starcaster for me

So a Gibson 335 walks into a bar and sees a fine looking strat drinking alone…

Seeing "normal" headstock on a starcaster is weird as hell

      My reason for ordering it.

I wonder if the Tom DeLonge signature Starcaster sales had anything to do with it. Never been a fan of the headstock, but yeah- it's kind of it's thing.

@slawaschwed I didn't order one, but that's why I never ordered the "normal" one. Which is weird, because I could care less about the headstock while playing, but...

@@russellives6069 It's a true mystery about headstocks. Seems to be a decisive trigger for many, including me.
